I definitely appreciate any constructive criticism I can get - it's the only way to get better at this. Thanks for subscribing and let me know what you think of the other stuff - gotta warn you, though, the early vids are pretty bad. I cringe a bit when I watch them but keep them up in case they help students and to remind myself how far I've come.

Never stop making this content used u at GCSE, watched u at A-level and still refer back to your vids at Undergraduate level... your work is well thought out, precise with being over complicated and it is quite funny how these videos have gone from challenging me to think beyond the narrative to supplementary to my addition reading to now a starting point for understanding the period. Your a key part of my growth as a historian and that is eternally appreciated

Believe if i'm not mistaken, "normalcy" was a word coined by Harding, one of many new words coined in early part of 20th century, making its way into the vernacular language.

That's the first negative I've gotten on the mug... I do hold it more in this video than in most videos I've made, though, so that could be it. I'll make sure I've got a place to set it down in the future.

Much appreciative of the tweets and mentions! I had to google Tim Hortons (we Americans learn very little about that uninhabited country to the north of us) and now, I'm craving donuts. Would certainly sport that mug on CZcams if you were ever to send it!

But if you outdo him... what will poor Hip do? Start to sing? (Search for The History Teacherz & History for Music Lovers.)

I doubt he'll have to stoop that low! Haha! We've got a good thing going because we appeal to slightly different markets on the student end. His videos are much more helpful to someone preparing for NY Regents and other state tests, which is a pretty HUGE market, while mine tend to target AP students, new teachers, and students specifically preparing for the SC test. I'm hoping to be about where Hip is in five years - by then, he may have his own TV show and leave me CZcams!

The wilson's solution for world war I was not good. The 14 points didn't work. And a I think because the idea of wilson is that the end of the war had to be without winners and loosers. Its kind a unuseful pacifism. And then the difference between fd roosevelt and what makes fd roosevelt the best democrat in office ever is that when going to world war II he clearly said this time there will be winners and loosers. And it was what happened. The era of any kind of empire was ended even for britain and france. Fd roosevelt is very important not because the new deal but for this statement of the world war

That, while an undeniable fact, has been caused to an extent by increased lack of willingness to cooperate between the two parties in our government. back in the day when there were more the two parties and money was not such a large part of politics there was a lot more compromise in the congress. things started to get bad in the Gilded age if you ask me, and from then on its been a slow downward spiral

    • @samlelacheur3019

In my opinion, instead of trying to look at an entire presidency, one should analyze domestic policy (social, economic, etc.) and foreign policy (diplomacy, nat. sec., war, trade, etc.) separately. Like you pointed out, LBJ's foreign policy was disastrous, but great society was very important. Similarly, the Nixon administration was very strong on foreign policy with Kissinger and the like but had issues domestically. Also, of all the "Forgotten Presidents" Chester Arthur was probably the least corrupt...

Tons of parallels between Warren Harding and Donald Trump. From the "America First!" rhetoric (in reaction to intellectual internationalist predecessors) to two men who were/are big womanizers to two administrations rife with corruption.
