A Yeoman Warder (Beefeater) tour guide keeps the crowd smiling and laughing during a Thursday, December 9, 2010 visit to the Tower of London by Jerry and Judy Clark
I had this guy lead my group around on a school trip, yet sadly it was just that, a school trip. He had to watch his tongue due to the impressionable minds around sadly, he did make a joke saying "don't forget to leave the unwanted ones here, they'll fit nicely under the stairs" to one of my teachers.
i have an uncle who left the army as an RSM. Army humour is the darkest, sickest, but funniest you will hear. I assure you this legend of a bloke is holding back... hard!
Every history teacher out there should learn from this dude. I love history myself so most of what he said I already knew but he makes it so funny anyone would be amused while learning a lot.
Utterly brilliant. This man deserves another MSM for his cameo performance - irreverent, funny, engaging, superbly informed and able to put over his story in a flowing entertaining manner that an ex-military fellow tour guide immediately recognises. Unbeatable and worth his weight in gold.
When I was small child I visited the tower with my parents about an hour before they closed. They still wanted to charge full price which my parents were not prepared to pay for such a short time. One of the Yeoman Warders come after us as we were leaving and took us in free of charge as he said "this is the boys heritage. He deserves to see inside"They are all in my opinion wonderful people and ambassadors in what must be a very tiring demanding and frustrating (stupid tourists) job.
This chap should come on prescription to the nation! Imagine just how much more interesting history would be in schools if there was some-1 like him teaching it. It must be quite a challenge, when you have many different foreign nationals visiting the Tower,to be understood, & unconfusing. He is a genius at what he does & worth double whatever the entrance fee is.It's said that if the ravens at the Tower ever left then England would fall.Same applies to this man.Absolutely brilliant.
A great advert for the country and for the British Army. It's men like this who possess great character, personality, humour, intellect, recall and sheer presence that characterise all that's best about the British people. If ever history could be made fascinating and memorable here's the man to teach it. My sides are still hurting from laughter - absolutely unspeakably brilliant.
I hope all of you may view all four parts. I had to break up the video due to CZcams constraints on both size and length. Our trip to London in Dec. 2010 had many highlights, but the Tour of the Tower of London and this fellow's humor was surely the peak!
Priceless, absolutely priceless I have not laughed so much for years except when the mother in law died ! Thanks for putting these videos up - jec0066 - I luv ya !
Not a lot of people know this but this Yeoman Warder is Bill Callaghan. He has been told off by the management of the Tower for his non PC manner. If you like Bill's style drop him a line at the Tower and let him know. Guys like him need our support.
Most unfortunate indeed. I have experienced the absolutely mind expanding experience of Bill Callaghan. If his Bosses consider him 'less than desireable' in who he IS, and what he DOES, then, possible, HIS BOSSES might be 'less than desireable, or adequate'.
What he wont tell you . He and all warders of the tower are chosen for their outstanding service in the army or air force . Just look at the ribbons on his chest , you don't get those for nothing .
when i went there a i asked for a photo with one of them and they were very rude to me ( an 18 year old girl on her birthday :L ) Luckily i found another Yeoman Warder who was kind enough to pose for a photo ;)
@robo438 - Afraid you're born 30 years too late. My History Teacher broached the subject of Irish Home Rule. His opening line was "First, you must realise the Irish are all mad ....."Possibly racist nowadays, but it made those teenagers immediately begin listening("mad people"- our kinda people) & ultimately become sympathetic to the Irish cause:) Also, we learnt British History, not American. We won't have tolerance/understanding in our own communities British serfs/workers history is taught.
"BE QUIET! This is a palace, not a playground!" We need people like Bill in restaurants to say that to all the screaming little kids.....

At 05:46. "Just one moment, excuse me, Sir".
"BE QUIET!,.. THIS, IS A PALACE, NOT A PLAYGROUND!..
Parental discipline at its finest!.
No idea how much they pay that man, but it's not enough

I met Bill when he was a serving Soldier, he was just as mad and as funny then as he is on this video clip, top guy.

It's a gift shop now.

@rogerthedodger55 share? Not have?
do Japanese tourists get the same guys?
pretty much every teacher I had at school..
whoops, that particular comment was spoken in Part II!
@BulletFoss would only take a phone call to have that dealt with.
The videographer liked the Mel Gibson comments too. "Mel Gibson ..... should have been brought that that door and given a health slap...."
Thats what its there for.
they fired this brilliant man??
when i went there a i asked for a photo with one of them and they were very rude to me ( an 18 year old girl on her birthday :L ) Luckily i found another Yeoman Warder who was kind enough to pose for a photo ;)

They should have Yeoman warders at every tourist attraction to keep brats under control.
