  • This video shows how to groom and demat a Jersey Wooly rabbit. Our model is Mushroom, a rescue rabbit. The video was made to show his newly adopted bunny mum how to care for his long hair. Kim Cooney at The Rabbit Sanctuary demonstrates how to use gentle pressure and pushing motions to steady the bunny on the table for grooming. She uses vet fleece / vet bedding as the soft pad to groom on. Kim shows us how to pull apart a mat in the fur without hurting the bunny. She also demonstrates her use of gentle pushing and pressure on various parts of the rabbit to keep him steady on the grooming table.
If you have any questions please ask in the comments below and Kim will respond.

Wow thanks so much for your wonderful video! What a good little boy for letting you groom him with such long fur.
My boy is moulting at the moment, so my house has lots of fairyfloss tufts everywhere.
I have been grooming him everyday, and the only way he will let me do it is if he has some treats to nibble 🐰🐰🐇🐇

Such a sweet boy! I've got a dog with a long double coat, and i groom her in pretty much the same way.

Very nice video and technique, thank you! I'll try to copy how you hold him at some moments. I have an adult extra-fluffy rabbit (Not sure about the breed, some say he is a double maned lion head, I thought he was an angora at first, so no idea...). He is difficult to handle because he doesn't really trust humans and hates being handled and even touched most of the time, but his hair requires it, my poor boy. The worst area for me is the chest and between his front paws, it's extremely difficult for me to reach, he gets all stiff and when he sees an small possibility to run away he struggles a lot (wihc is dangerous with the grooming utensils around!)
