  • In this video I will go over a very important point about your putting stroke that will dramatically improve the way you hit your putts. This will allow you to better judge the speed so you can eliminate those 3-putts!

    This dude is just awesome. There are very very VERY few "golf instructors" i will watch because 90% of it is actual garbage but this dude right here i can say without a doubt video after video ive watched is 100% correct. Be careful of people telling you stuff on here because i watch people watch this instructor that instructor and they try and apply it all to their swing & they get 10x worse.......... If you are trying to learn your in the right spot!

    Great instruction, and timely. Noticed your legs are VERY stable (a weakness I have when putting) and wondering how you lock them down during set up and address. Do you tighten the legs or angle the knees in, slightly, to add strength? Have also begun focusing more on making sure my left wrist and palm (right handed putter) maintain their angle against the putter handle and that my right hand stays firmly connected as well. Historically been told I'm a 'wristy' putter in that I lose the connection with the handle during the stroke and therefore the putter face as well.

    Nice drill you can practice this at home also using coins to mark the stroke lengths.

    Agree but all this depends on good contact. I would also say the biggest issue with distance control is poor contact. Hitting a putt solid vs poorly greatly changes the distance. Watching people putting 5 balls from 25’ I see several very short and several very long. Do a video on solid contact with things like not moving hips (rarely covered by anyone) and extending toward the target.

    Great technique demo. Controlling distance, however, really wasn't covered. Also if your 4-ft put has that wide a path (@9in back to outside of your foot), how far back do you take a 30 footer? Or do you change tempo?

    • @JKMGolf
      @JKMGolf  Před rokem +1

      The whole video was about controlling the length of the backswing and follow through. If you watched the entire video I talk about what to do with long putts. Controlling length of stroke has everything to do with controlling distance

      @@JKMGolf Hi Jonathan, do you mean the longer distance, the wider for the two tee pegs? The only thing doesn't change is the same tempo?
      Thanks

    I notice again that you putt using the claw approach. Can you explain what you think the advantage of this grip is because I may want to try it.

    • @JKMGolf
      @JKMGolf  Před rokem +1

      It essentially takes away mobility in the trail hand. Less likely to twist the club face open or closed

    This is interesting, it is the exact opposite of the top speed golf video where clay says top players have shorter back swing and longer follow through

      @JKMGolf  Před rokem

      I use the Clay method. 1:2. Feel it roll off the face vs popping it. Some talk same timing of the swing, so the same tempo for short or longer swings. Also, feel the club stop and be dead weight in the back swing, accelerate to the ball but at impact the acceleration is zero and negative just after the ball, ie max velocity at impact then slows. Claw grip… impressive
