Special time for us, as children of the 60s and 70s. I'm watching golf with my step dad. Many historic battles on the course. Lee taunts Jack with the rubber snake. Great memories as a kid.

I think Player is spot on. For sheer talent, Tiger stands alone, but notice Player said if Tiger had come first, Nicklaus would have passed him. He's talking about Jack's ability to deal with adversity, his mental toughness, and his character. Player has said elsewhere he thinks Tiger lacks the ability to deal with adversity, and time has pretty much confirmed that. Nicklaus is the greatest because in addition to tremendous talent, he had the mental toughness to be a champion. And he's a better man than he was a golfer.

clearly you never saw tiger come back from a huge deficit in multiple us amateurs. Tiger had more mental toughness than anyone. Has jack ever won the us open with a broken leg? You stating tiger cant handle adversity exposes how little you know so good job

@BdubZ sorry Nicklaus is the GOAT. Tiger never played persimmon a Balata ball. Nicklaus never had a posse to attend to every hangnail that "afflict" modern golfer. You're all wet

Tiger couldn't hold a candle to either Mr.Nicklaus or Mr.Player.

The Open Championship is THE CHAMPIONSHIP, everything else is a practice round.

no he's not. Lee Trevino is the most talented man to ever hold a golf club in his hands. END OF.

I watched Lee Trevino in the 1970s in the Open, and you are right, he was sheer perfection. Every shot with wonderfull control all day. Woods never had that long game control.

Trevino in his prime could hit that low fade with perfection. His personality on the course always made for a fun gallery experience as well.

+Jim Torode Trevino never hit a fade, his shot was a blocked push, very straight. He said himself he didn't fade the ball. I watched him to the Open in the late 70s, he seemed to me to hit the ball dead straight.

And clearly you do not actually see real talent in a golfer. Jack Nicklaus is far and away the greatest player to EVER live. PERIOD!!!!
