Since some of the utter idiots at War Thunder top tier are too stupid to fly the Harrier and AV-8, and especially the premium AV-8A and new Sea Harrier FA.2, here is a simple guide (full of memes). This video was originally intended for the Sea Harrier and AV-8B+ since they faced F-16s and MiG-29s, but branched out to also include the FRS.1, Harrier GR.1, and AV-8A. So, how have you been enjoying the AMRAAMs and R-77 in the new update?

Fun fact about the swap from 9Gs to 9Ls. The 9Ls did not fit on the existing hard points when they arrived, so 809 squadron’s riggers decided to fix the problem themselves - by filing off the bit of the hard point that was obstructing the new missile. In war…if it’s stupid but it works, it’s not stupid!

As someone who has a combined 2000 battles in the Harrier, I can confirm that this is in fact one of the videos of all time 👍
The Gr1 has to have THE single biggest fall from grace of any plane in war thunder.
You can actually notch fox 3 missiles by appearing stationary in the air next to a hill or something. You can do this in the the Harrier by using the VTOL, meaning you won't need much chaff when dealing with them.
I should've watched this sooner, I can't even say the usual stuff because it's stale now, but this is another genuinely great video, its actually really crazy how quickly you pump these out

the trick with the SRAAM is you give it the highest angle between your plane and the enemy as possible so that the thrust vectoring doesn't end up overcorrecting

Britain didn't "ship" the Sea Harriers by Cargo Ship to the Falklands, at the early stages of the war, there was no land based airfields to operate from. Sea Harriers at the start of the war operated from HMS Hermes and HMS Invincible which were full fledged Carriers. The reason they sent Harriers on Cargo Ships was because Hermes and Invincible could only carry a meager 20 Harriers combined and inevitably there would be losses. So 5 Sea Harriers from the FAA and 6 Harrier GR.3s from the RAF were loaded up and later transfered to the carriers when there was losses (whether from accidents or losses). The Harriers were flown off of Atlantic Conveyor before she was hit and sunk by a Exocet (although she did take down a lot of heavylift helicopters with her). A few Harrier GR.3s were actually based at San Carlos to perform strike missions but that was after the landings at San Carlos and a full month after the conflict began. Most Harrier flights were from the two Carriers Britain had at sea.
