    There are only a very small handful of scale layouts I've seen, that look as real as Jasons. The guy has magic eyes and hands. I can only assume this is why his products are the very best the market has to offer. The stuff just looks as real as it can possibly be. Thanks Rapido Team, Thanks!

    Finally a proper turbo on Jason's layout. I got my order in back in February of 2020. I very vaguely remember riding these between Penn Station and Rhinecliff back when I was a small child. The big windows blew me away, and I always loved when I'd get one. The premium seats were called "Custom Class" in the 1990s on the RTL I and II before becoming Business Class on the RTL III. Considering you didn't do a 3D scan, I'm super impressed you got the taper right. Our model railroad club in Queens is going to have at least two on the roster and we are super excited to have them

    The thing sounds amazing, it's like a jet engine in the startup sequence. It'll probably fit in sound wise with UP Turbines. Now on DCC are the 2 power cars wired opposite so that the rear engine runs backwards while the other is running forward

    I still remember seeing these fly by my apartment front window back in '79 when we used to live right in front of Marble Hill station in the Bronx. I was 9 years old. This was my favorite train back then. Wish I had an HO layout so I could buy one of these. Will more than likely buy the N Scale version though since you guys do the best model trains.

    Does your model have the 3rd rail shoe pickup that can be deplotyed ? :-) The RTL spent their life on the "Empire Corridor" from Grand Centrral and ran on 3rd shoe to get out of Grand Central (not sure where they kicked in turbines. The Adirondack was Turboliner for quite some time and remember seeing it often at Windsor station until it was replaced by extremely noisy F40s with boring amfleet cars.
    Although originaly marketed as a fast train, it was never really used on fast tracks, so our Turbo retained speed record because it ran on faster tracks.
    BTW, since the RTGs (and I assume RTL) had mechanical transmission from gas turbine to wheels, how did it run on electroc? electro motors in the loco driving the transmission?

    • @rapidotrains
      @rapidotrains  Před 2 lety

      They won't be working, but the third rail shoe detail will be included on the models in the retracted position.
      Hard to say what the specific technical specs were, but it's likely a secondary electric motor controlled acted as the propulsion in third rail territory. Max speed was 45mph in this mode.
