Why is it that all Russian songs on CZcams that have absolutly nothing to do with The Soviet Union have Soviet propoganda as images? Korobushka is a love song about a Peddler!
+Oscar Floyd (Sorry for the late response but I have to clear this out of the way) It’s because the soviet union (USSR) played a large part in Russian history as it lasted for nearly 7 decades, Sometimes people will mistake this music as being made by/for the Soviet union’s army (And it’s choir). This is a common mistake with history and folk songs like these…
Oscar Floyd oh yes ALL russian songs are not about the soviets especially the sacred war and march of the defenders of mosow or the partisan's song or smuglyanka or i could go on
Hi everyone! I am dutch but I am obsest ( sorry if I spell I wrong) with russian art pieces like these. In my opinion: russia is a mighty country with a rich history and a rich culture
Axel Zwinselman This is a cover, its not the original song. I would know :P I'm Ukrainian, my mother used to sing this to me to bed. She also sang "Dva lisoylee goosya" aka " two merry geese" to me. If you like the Russian culture, I suggest looking up the original song :) Korobeiniki " the peddler"
Memories! The Korobushka was one of the top-ten folkdances at the dance-classes all over the country. Among others the Israelian Mayim, the Greek Misirlou, the French Branle du Quercy, some Italian tarantella, a macedonian dance, which name I forgot, the Scottish Dashing White Sergeant, etc. We were naive but happy in the fifties: and quite international!
Well, it's good to see that there's people on here civil enough to admit when they've made a mistake (like me failing to explain how I was thinking when I first responded to you so as to avoid hostilities to begin with. ^_^'). I like your avatar, by the way.
Certainly a good reason to love these kinds of dances. If only I had a REAL balalaika or a bandura vs. having an acoustic guitar. Although I've been told that those balalaikas are almost as tough as playing a banjo.
Korobushka/korobeiniki on one of my Grandfather Aleksandr's Vinyl discs. Not this exact version but there is one version similar to this. He has Red Army Choir, Dimitri Dourakine, and some of his old recordings. I wish you could put a Vinyl disc on computer.
I don't know why but this song gives me such joy, the song's so full of life but the poem's so sad, I feel it shows a simple life, a peasant's life but without all the condescension that's attached to the peasant life these days
Love the music. Music has a intricate and beautiful history of its own, not marred by war and deception to further itself. Korobushka, apparently, has Gypsy influence - very catchy and dance-like. I'm getting lost in the sound, rather than the pictures. Let's enjoy the music, shall we?
J311yman o.o Everytime I hear an American say "Korobushka" is my favorite song... as a born and raised Ukrainian.. all I am hearing is "Container is my favorite song".
Well, it's been said that Korobeiniki was the Soviet version, and Korobushka was the Tsarist Russian version of the song. I suppose the Red Army Choir may have made changes to the tune and the song.
@TheJudgeMan1 The description says 'various poster pictures about ww2 from soviet propaganda department'. That photo was taken for propaganda purposes, and so fits this description. P.S. they aren't cartoons.
I always wondered what the difference was between Korobushka and Korobeiniki, they seem to have the same melody, but it sounded like Korobeiniki had different lyrics behind it. Maybe the Soviet version of the song (which was the version used for Tetris, I assume) was different under the Soviet way of life? Someone please clarify this.
Think about it this way : Without Tetris (wich is a Russian game), he wouldn't even know about the music (even if he's wrong with the title). It's the same for me, I know about Korobushka because of Tetris, and now I know the proper name & co. You must be proud of your great grandfather, maybe because of him, this song is playing today and before in Tetris ;).
From Wikipedia: "Sarcasm is a sharp, bitter, or cutting expression or remark; a bitter jibe or taunt, usually conveyed through irony or understatement." That may have some relevance to you.

This song is unproperly titled then. These lyrics are to Korobeiniki
+Oscar Floyd korobushka is a different version of korobeiniki

I came here because Russian music is amazing.
"Stacking L-shaped blocks since 1939!"

Wow did not know the Tetris song had Russian roots, wow. The original is really great.
Tetris song is actually Korobeiniki. It looks like this but is slightly different. Still Russian though.
southeparkfreak They're the same song, I think, but slightly different tunes.
Tetris was made by a russian guy Alexey Pajitnov and is to this date called a soviet tile matching game .. :D.

This song is very similar to Коробейники, Korobejniki. :P

No, This song was arranged into the Tetris theme A.
