Beautiful art Mike... It's a pity in some way that talent like yours is seldom seen today. We use computerised systems and while they deliver a quality result, there's nothing like proper hand-engraving.
To those asking about his equipment, the handpiece used is a Lindsay classic engraver on a grs ball vise of some model. Can't account for compressor used but its a quiet one. And for those thinking of rushing out to buy one a setup like that one only comes in around $2,500 if you buy smart. Not that most of the people in this comment section would be able to do anything with such toolage except make a mess.
Hi Mike, love your work I am engraver here in Australia and wondering what the ' chinese white ' is you use for setting out, and where you can purchase it online. At present I rub plasticine over article then lightly smear talcum powder over it, but would like to try your method.
Do you mind sharing what equipment you're using? The Lindsay hand piece is pricey but seems like it's worth the cost - not really sure what else needs to go with it. Thanks for sharing!
Hi, very nice work that you are doing. Can I ask you want is the white thing you put on the surface so that you could draw on it? Possibly a link of where i can buy it online? Thanks so much yeah.
Sounds like a petrol motor on that? Also a new way to engrave i suppose. Id like to know if that was a craft knife with a point in it that you used to draw the graphics? Thanks and good job
I learned today that Chinese White is a white water color paint. Perhaps Chinese White has special properties making it particularly good for engraving, but could any white water color paint be used?
Stout Marketing I tried to make one out of my wife's old rear end but it wobbled around way to munch and it just kept going towards the center of it all! Butt good luck and take care!
it's an airgraver, very expensive bit of kit, google it. huge choice of options, you deffo do NOT want one if you are just starting out. they are pneumatic, compressor etc etc. way to go getting the D's the same size :)
What is the alloy? You say, it`s a sterling silver. But, as far as i undestand, sterling means 92% Ag and 8% Cu or about so. But this alloy does not looks that great as the metal in your video. What is it?
Thank you sir, read this comment clicked on your profile and subscribe to your Channel! Also might I add your work is outstanding and it's not a copyright video LOL ... TRUE Craftsmanship!
dumb ass.. its Steve Lindsay uploading Mike Dubber's videos. If anyone knows Mike Dubber better and knows about copyrighted videos better, it would be Steve. xD
"Then it's just a matter of cutting the letters". You just need thirty years of muscle-memory to back that up. I love watching old masters.

Chinese white is a zinc white (don't use permanent/titanium white). You can get it in watercolor or gouache.
Where can I find Chinese White? Please let me know.
