    Honestly I’m so glad you post this videos, I discovered you channel like 3 days ago and can’t stop watching them, I kinda got scared because every video said it was posted 1-2 years ago and i thought you stopped making them but I was happy to see that notification that said you posted something. I love it because you talk about things any other person does (I mean, you could get money from this, but instead you just share your knowledge with everyone), and I’ve learned a lot. You’re like the personal coach I will never have haha

    Yeesh, trying to figure a character in ten minutes scare me. One of my weaknesses in acting is the cold reading. I worry if I don't spend enough time on a character I had prepared for, I won't get the part.
    However, these 4 Ws should work.

    Hi and thank you so much for all these valuable details you share with us! 😁
    What im not sure about is this- where do I find the character facts? I mean, would I usually be given the whole script if Im auditioning for a small role? If I just get a background of the show/movie, and get given a snippet which will be my autioning piece, would I get any more details?

So I wanna be an actor but the only experience I have is through high school drama is that a good way to start I am in grade 11 and I have 1 more year I can take drama. How do I start acting in movies I live in Vancouver so I don’t know how and where to start?

    I have an on camera commercial workshop (supposed to be April 18th but has been rescheduled) and I'm really nervous because I have never worked on screen before. Is this a good place to start, doing a commercial workshop that could potentially help me book commercials? I know a lot of people who go to the place that this workshop is held are at agencies and get booked jobs. I'm just terrified I'm going to do badly at it. Is there anything I can do to prepare?

    • @TheActorsAcademy
      @TheActorsAcademy  Před 4 lety +3

      It all depends on the class. Do note that a commercial class won’t applying the skills needed for TV & Film projects. If you are just wanting to do commercials though, then it just depends on the class. In terms of nerves, if you want to be an actor and have the best chance towards success, than you need to work on getting rid of those nerves. Accept that you will sometimes do good work and sometimes do bad work, but in the end what does it matter? So what if you do bad work in class, you don’t lose anything. Think about it this way, if you were going to begin learning piano, would you be good in the first month? Probably not, but you wouldn’t put yourself down about it, you’ve already accepted it will take time and you wouldn’t mind this. The same should apply towards acting, it’s just another skill you are working on.

    do you know how to sing as an actor

    • @TheActorsAcademy
      @TheActorsAcademy  Před 4 lety

      It can be beneficial for an actor, since music is very popular right now. If you have a popular skill that is being cast for, it has the potential to help get you in the room more for auditions, so if you can sing it is a plus, it’s not a guarantee that you will book a particular part, but it’s a plus 👍🏼

    Do you think this coronavirus
    with it"s social distancing
    will change the theater
    rorever. Paul Bacchus esq

    • @TheActorsAcademy
      @TheActorsAcademy  Před 4 lety +1

      Probably not. I think there will be some smaller theaters that will be forced to close, but I don’t think we will see the actual theater ‘experience’ change (talking after the virus is dealt with). Now depending how long this lasts, this could change. For example if it lasts long enough where theater companies get used to rehearsing over Skype/Zoom this could be an added process to some companies in the beginning stages of rehearsal, but again it hasn’t lasted long enough for it to become a comfortable norm. Depending on how long this lasts, you may even see performances streamed live, but it’d probably be from bigger companies, if at all. I think it’d be harder for smaller theaters to bring the audiences they need in. Who knows. Overall though, when everything’s finished up, I think you’ll see things pretty much back to normal, at least that’s what appears to be the case so far.
