quick tip. before you take apart the motor casing, use a sharpie to draw a line down the side touching every part of the case. That way you can easily see how the pieces fit back together. Great vid!

I oiled my fans a few days ago, just noticed this video today. Thankfully, my fans (two different brands) had fewer screws and I was also able to access the two ends of the shafts without taking the motors apart. Not a difficult task, but perhaps a bit of a chore to fit the pieces back together. My suggestion to anyone afraid of taking their fan apart is to take a video of the process. If you can't put it back together, just refer to your video to see where your pieces should be.

Dear Vins & Annette, My stand fan stopped after 1 year of use, watched you video, it helped. At 1:37, I was unable to open the fan motor cover after many tries despite four front screws removed, this Aerogaz brand stand fan has no screw at the back of the cover. Initially I used WD40, it did not help, then I dripped Singer Oil from outside into the rotating rod (without removing the motor cover). Waited for a few minutes for the oil to settle in. Then, I manually used my fingers to turn the rotating rod, at first it was very stiff, slowly it can spin smoothly. Re-installed all external parts removed. Plugged it, power on, it worked ! Many thanks. CKL 13/07/2023 Thu 1008 Singapore

This is a very clear and concise video. My 15+ year old fan was not spinning and I followed your step by step instructions. Only difference in my case was that the pin didn't come out that easily, I had to knock on it and use pliers to yank it out. I also substituted oil for wd40 as this is all I had on hand. Honestly my fan now spins faster and makes more wind than before! As good as new! Thank you so much for this video. Liked, subscribed and shared.

Their fan was just done is all........this didn't help my stand up fan but........a metal floor fan I paid quite a bit for???? different story, I couldnt get the face off so I sprayed lubricant real slow where it rolled down to get all the rusted areas and low and behold.......wa la !! Thank you. I have the Honeywell Pedestal Fan and it looks like you have to break the plastic to get easy access to the motor, but once I got close enough to it, I added a few drops of oil which was enough to loosen the friction from the dust and get it moving again. Saved from the trash!

Bro thank you very much for this... I used to just spray the bolt part with a spray lubrificant... but after 4 years the motor just stopped.... it got current in in but the blades wont move....
So I did this... I removed everything like you've showed and oh boy... the bearings were stuck with gunk from over the years... so I picked a small file and cleaned the bearings... sprayed them with graphite, lube them up good with vasseline... and now guess what... Is works like new... no noise, no heating of the motor.... So fking great man... Feels so good to fix stuff :)
    Thanks!

Thank you very much. I have this retro-style electric fan that suddenly stopped spinning. I thought the motor had burned out because I use to turn it on and forget about it, sometimes for days and days. This is not a cheap fan so I really wanted to fix it. I called the manufacturer, but they said they no longer service those fans. I then called a local elecrician who said it would cost $85 just to look at it. Strike two ! Actually I bought two of these fans back in 2010 so they matched perfecty in my living room on top of my stereo speakers . Buying a replacement would not be easy. I looked online, but could not find an exact match. Even if I had found a replacement there were other things that were higher on the priority scale.
Finally I decided to Google it. Not sure why I hadn't though of that before but my mind was set that I had blown the motor ? I followed the instructions step by step as best as I could, making sure not to get the screws mixed up. It only took me about an hour to take it apart and put it back together again. After all the work was done, I turned the fan on with my fingers crossed. I did not want to burn the house down. To my surprise, everything worked perfectly ! The fan is even more wisper-quiet than it was before. What I should have done was clean it up a little before putting it together. So I might have to do that. Thanks a lot for this video !

Crazy how people throw away things that just need a little TLC and maybe a bit of oil. ; )
Thanks for the vid, I just got a brand new fan from the curb.

Mine was a tab different in where the parts were. The hub bearing was actually out of the rear part of the motor. I must've tried to put it together like that and it wasn't until I watched three videos showcasing the same thing like no fan blade spin So thanks to your video I was able to figure out where I was going wrong. So in the rear I just had to lift up three tangs and put the hub bearing in there snug as a bug in a rug. LOL :)

I tried sewing machine oil and 3 in 1 with silicone. None worked for a long period. Most was about 2 weeks. So I bought some brake slider grease in a small package. Cost around 2 dollars. Used a Qtip to apply the grease on the parts shown. So far so good.. Update; spread the grease heavy on both sides of the spindle. Especially the back.

Very correct, sewing machine oil will wash the original machine oil and will dry very fast, and the axis will overheat and the fan will be broken, that’s my experience,
The key is a good quality grease

So cool to watch, so frustrating to do. The blade assembly part of my fan seems to be stuck on the rotating axis. As it's made of soft plastic I'm afraid to apply too much pressure and break it. I used a ton of WD-40, without success. I'm letting it soak in it for the night, we'll see tomorrow. 😞

@@VinsAnnetteSingh I did it! I was able to unstuck the rotating blades from the axis! 🥳🤩
I also cleaned all the parts of my fan, added oil where needed and... it still does not work. 😔😭
I now think it might be the capacitor. 🤦🏻‍♂️😔

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately this video gonna be useful for those who purchased entry level fans that tend to fail a year or two after purchase. Had a Morries and Mistral, where the fans just stopped working as early as 6mnths in, which is ridiculous. Been using Mitsu or KDK/Panasonic to save all of these hassle but then again, I may pick up an affordable, whack it and see if I can do this when it fails one day soon.
