This is what you call a MULTI FACETED ACTOR folks. They don't get much better than this.
Saw Glenn Close in the Broadway revival several years one week before lt was to close. I had never seen the show but the audience was full of devotees. Standing ovations at each of Norma’s signature moments. The finale brought tears and prolonged loud applause. I had tears and goose bumps. After the show my partner and I ran into one of the musicians at the street corner. I complemented her on the performance, and she said the audience was one of the best during the entire run: respectful of the performers, enthusiastic at the appropriate times, and completely in love with the show. She said people don’t realize how important the audience is for the success or failure of each individual performance. Glad I was there to be a part of it.
Glenn Close is so great in this role. What a fantastic voice and what a performance to be treasured always. Her phrasing is perfect. I wish that they would make a movie with her in the role of Norma. With the right director she could finally win the Academy Award. "All those wonderful people out there in the dark" would fill the seats in the theaters.
We saw the closing night of this….and I’ve never seen an audience embrace an actor as intensely as we all did Ms. Close.
Without a doubt, Glenn Close is the most wronged actress in the history of cinema. Total lack of respect, consideration and humanity the Academy of Oscars never gave her a statuette. An extremely talented, unique, special, competent, deserving, magnanimous actress ... who unfortunately never had the recognition she truly deserves. It was already for Glenn Close to have at least 3 Oscars. I hope that justice will finally be done at the Oscar 2021 with her interpretation of the film Hilbilly Elegy. I hope Netflix will make a heavy and strong campaign. The Academy will never be able to correct all the regrettable injustices that Glenn Close suffered throughout his career. This movie star cannot die without winning an Oscar. Let the entire voting public have a minimum of compassion and empathy. God bless Glenn Close. Justice for Glenn Close! 🥇👑

Unfortunately the movie has been totally trashed, so it’s highly unlikely she’ll even get a nomination.
I hope she do a Sunset Boulevard movie. I heard it's been in the making. But I don't know when will this be released. But this, the moment Glenn Close was awarded just a honorary Oscar or what they call the "Death Bed" Oscar is the moment the Academy will reveal itself to have wronged, underappreciated and took for granted a talent that is Glenn.
She is PHENOMENAL!!! Such a great singer and dramatic actress!! Wish I could see this FULL show!!!

I was lucky enough to see Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard a few years ago in London - standing ovation mid-show at this, her performance was phenomenal, and flawless! Absolutely one of my all time favourite memories! I wish they'd show the full show so everyone can experience this song in context!

The Broadway Sunset Boulevard has been filmed, but it is in the Broadway archives where every other Broadway shows are stored. It is not open to the public though 😓. There is also a Sunset Boulevard movie.

They must have, as well, the original Phantom of the Opera, with Crawford, Brightman and Barton, and they still won't release it. We can only hope that, since pro-shots are becoming increasingly popular thanks to Hamilton, then they might release it someday
I saw her on Broadway in this role when she reprised it a few years ago. The production was kinda meh, but she was legendary. I have NEVER experienced a longer standing ovation and screams for encore in my life. And it wasn’t for the show, but all for her.

There is the original film which was the basis of the musical.
Well the show is based on the film, so why not reverse the process? Why not do a film about the making and staging of the stage adaptation of SB? Keeping the songs of course.

Glenn Close really made Sunset Boulevard come to life for me. Her range and acting really fit the gravitas of a golden age actress coming back to a space that she considers home but everyone else has rendered irrelevant. It would be awesome if she reprised this role again. She’d bring a new energy to Norma!

Saw her in this role on Broadway in 2017, and it was incredible. I have seen plenty of theatre, and I've never seen an ovation nearly as long the one she got after this song. She acts the hell out of this role.

i discovered this performance a couple of weeks ago, i had no idea about the story or the movie. However, i got connected with Glenn's performance that i did my research. I just wanna say is that Glenn made a great performance, she has a beautiful voice, so warm, so expressive so she made a very rich rendition of this song and expose differente emotions the character had through the song. I loved it.

I'm watching in genuine awe. I'm performing this song for a concert in two weeks. This performance is what I want to live up to. The acting choices Glenn makes here are stunning and so fitting to the piece. The way she commands the music and lyrics to match her emotion is just incredible. An iconic woman. I can only hope to one day be as incredible as her.

A beautiful song, perfectly sung and acted as you can see she is acting the role of Norma Desmond as she sings the song. Sunset Boulevard is such a sad story about a woman slowly going mad, especially how it ends with her saying she is ready for her close up now as she is taken into the asylum.
Glenn Close's performance and Gethsemane sung by Michael Ball were my favorite parts of the tribute. Thank you for uploading this clip.

I have a theory, that we can't have a movie made with every great woman of Hollywood altogether present, because having all that talent in one room is gonna tear a hole in the fabric of reality,
so we get one great per movie or stage to keep the balance of the universe intact
It's really something special to see an actor or actress of this caliber live And if you can manage it close up. I play is a completely different experience. I miss seeing them. I got to see several.
