New Zealand Immigration Minister Erica Stanford has announced new changes to the Accredited Employer Worker Visa scheme to attract skilled migrants, prioritize local workers, and align with economic needs. Changes include English language requirements, minimum skills criteria, and disbanding the franchisee accreditation category.

Thank you for your information on visit visa...dear fellows listen to me well here: I applied this year January and visa officer Clavijo had no clue and refused the visa on making mere speculations. I originally a university teacher settled here in China afteR my Phd AND also provided all the docs along with pay slip with great bank statement. These KIWI (seemingly innocent dont know how to assess an application) and using such methods to make money from the most eligible candidates who merely wanted to visit. So beware , this visa or ETA visa..both are innovative means to gather poor third countries money and fill ones own pocket. Neo colonialism didnt yet end dear friends. you don't understand the fact that indians start off as a low skill migrant but further down the line once their residency etc is sorted, most of them try to upskill or start a business which leads to employment. Now you might look at UBER drivers and Security Gaurds etc most of them are Indians they do that as a second job Hence pay alot more Tax (33%). Long story short most indians that starts from the scratch do a lot better than an average kiwi ten years down the line. They do contribute to New Zealand economy through taxes, employment, businesses and even the jobs that no kiwi wants to do. MOST IMPORTANT!! they don't even stay on govt benefits even after paying the taxes for so long but a lot of kiwis do

The Accredited Employers Visa was abused by some employeers who hired their own people from India, Republic of China, and a few other countries as they lied to Immigration Service.
That means a Indian permanent Resident business owner hires labourers for building sites and there is not enough work for them .
The workers have little English skills and do not know their
employment rights in New Zealand. The work contracts are written in English as they should be and are legal documents, the migrant workers are unable to read them. This is one of the reasons Minister Erica Stanford wants changes to be made.

100 percent right. As a software engineer, I have to compete with punjabis, who can't form a sentence in English for the petrol station job. And i still cant get it. Employers don't hire anyone above 35 years of age.

Glad they have made it harder on the accredited employer work visa. It was taking jobs not just from the locals but even the poor Indian fee paying students. They were finding it hard to find jobs too.

Good decision, most of migrant exploitation cases are from Indian employers who has been exploiting their own people . Harsher penalties should be implemented for dodgy employers who exploits migrant workers. Overseas job recruitment agencies also should be banned!!! Enough is Enough

It’s a good idea 👍 to many have been abused and paid under award wages by their fellow countrymen who run businesses not just from India 🇮🇳 by the way certain other countries do the same to their fellow countryman and good English is a must for all people that come to work or study 📚 especially for low wage jobs except probably farm workers picking fruits and veggies 🥒 and milking cows 🐄 and very skilled workers like engineers doctors nurses etc etc
