Add a Prep Sink to Kitchen Island

- Learn how to install a prep sink in a kitchen island; details include how to cut into a granite couintertop, a method for tapping into existing water supply and drain lines..
In my home, there was a beautiful granite countertop, still in terrific shape on the kitchen island. The thought of putting a hole in it made me more than a bit uncomfortable. However, my wife, Lynn, wanted me to do exactly that. She reasoned that because the oven, the cook top, the microwave, the dishwasher, and the sink were all clustered in one corner of the kitchen, it always became quite crowded in that part of the room. If there was a prep sink on the far end of the island, it would help to solve this problem.

Your wife is lucky to have a such creative husband.
Oh, P.S.. Excellent ending for the young lady. I'm just inspired and excited that there are still men like us out there making our wives/girlfriends feeling the way they should and beyond. OUTSTANDING work sir.
Incredibly useful video
So nice to have a basement. Different story if you have a crawl space or God forbid you are on a slab.
So true. My crawl space is ok, but having a basement just makes things so much easier to deal with. I wish we had one.
pro trick: watch series at flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching a lot of movies these days.
@Alden Phillip Yea, I've been watching on flixzone} for years myself :D
@Alden Phillip Yea, been watching on flixzone} for since december myself =)
And we have a slab . So nope....project cancelled 😂
You are VERY THOROUGH AND PRECISE IN EVERY DETAIL NECESSARY AND POSSIBLE. I just hope the guy I hire will be the same. 🤞
Beautiful, I love it! Happy anniversary, mine is tomorrow I will settle for the sink! 😜
That’s awesome! I want one now! Thanks for sharing and happy anniversary!
Great Vid! Youre the uncle I wish I had! haha
Awesome job, looked like a lot of hard work on that one.
Good job, Ron
So sweet of you ❤️
Nicely done. I can only add it is the 'tightening' that is the key here, put some tissue on the bottom of the sink, run the sink water for a while to make sure all is dry ! I learned this step the hard way :)
Must be great to have a basement. Much more difficult in a slab foundation
She: Honey I wanted the Sink the other way around.
HE : Hummmm
That was my exact thought. It should have been facing the main sink so she can simply turn around.
All that work plus diamonds? Thanks a lot, buddy.
Happy anniversary 😂😂😂😂😂
Excelente, and excellent thanks
Thank you for this
You are the best husband EVER
Nice to see hedrew 😊
Happy Anniversary and 🙏4️⃣🚰🗜🧰🛠
Thats a very caring husband.
Good job
Simple and easy
This is #marriagegoals!!!’❤❤❤
Calming video
That is way better than a vacuum.
Could combined drain-vent have satisfied venting (and S-trap been used)?
Copper drain pipes for indoor drain plumbing? First time I've seen that.
How come you didn't install a vent for your plumbing?
What do you do if you have a slab
Wow weeeee .......... smooch 😂
So easy when you have a basement eh. 99% of us have no chance of such an addition.
This intro is classic 😂😂😂
Luckily, I had a plumber living in my basement that handled that part for me
I don't think I've ever seen a copper drain line!
Curious why you wouldn't run PEX?
That's the way it was done.
Also, cast iron was used, and one benefit is that it is quiet.
PEX supply? Why bother when Cu is so much more easier, here.
did PEX exist in the '90s?
not everyone has a basement under the kitchen
Some do.
First of all, NO WAY that's an afternoon job!
Second installing the prep sink wasn't good enough! TIFFANY'S jewelry too?
LOL. Only in a well-prepared, easiest-situation and experienced professional...maybe.
This can be done in an afternoon.
I am a woman and soooooo glad I am not a man! How ungrateful! No kiss, hug or show of affection until she sees jewelry?
Great tutorial.
I was hoping there was no basement... Wanted to see how that would work.🤔🤗
You are aging backwards by the way 😂
And gate valve angle stops... Makes me feel very old...(I am)

Your wife is not wrong.
It's like I don't want to have a bathroom or kitchenette in the basement so that I am forced to run up and down the stairs...
... but OTHER people are not wrong for wanting to have a bathroom or kitchenette in basement.
But even though she's not wrong I don't want a second sink.
But maybe the plumbing if that can be done?
What if I to get my dream home and die of breast cancer in a few years?
And the new owner wants a second sink.
And a second sink DOES make sense for people who like to have "cooking parties."

I need, how to add a kitchen to your house, first.
wife is either a bad actor, or very ungratefull.. either way, good job on the sink, your home is beautiful
Holy shit I bet their entire home was covered in dust after this. Dear god.
CUTE COUPLE BUT GET A GYM MEMBERSHIP PLEASE ASAP, CHEERS.
Wouldn’t a disposal have made this sink more usable?
