Lyrics:
Face to face
my lovely foe
Mouth to mouth
raining heaven's blows
Hand on heart
tic tac toe
Under the stars
naked as we flow
Cheek to cheek
the bitter sweet
Commit your crime in your deadly time
Commit your crime in your deadly time
It's too divine
I want to bend
I want this bliss but something says I must resist
Another life
another time
We're Siamese twins writhing intertwined
Face to face
no telling lies
The masks they slide to reveal a new disguise
You never can win
it's the state I'm in
This danger thrills and my conflict kills
They say follow your heart
follow it through
But how can you
when you're split in two?
And you'll never know
You'll never know
One more kiss
before we die
Face to face
and dream of flying
Who are you?
who am I?
Wind in wings
two angels falling
To die like this
with a last kiss
It's falsehood's flame
it's a crying shame
Face to face
the passions breathe
I hate to stay but then I hate to play
And you'll never know
You'll never know . . . - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Michelle Pfeiffer ...still the best Catwoman to date.
But one of the worst Catwoman origin stories. They should have stuck to the source material.
get2rog Second favorite for me. Anne Hathaway dethroned her.
Mike Paul Ybh I still haven't watched the dark knight movies yet.Started watching the first one and decided I had to be in the right mood to appreciate it. Maybe I will get round to it in 2020 lol. B vs S kinda put me off even though I know it's Bale and not Affleck in the dark night trilogy.
.
Hathaway was no Catwoman. A more un-Catwoman creature would be hard to find.
Julie Newmar. Pfeiffer is a close 2nd.
You know, Mistletoe can be deadly if you eat it
But kiss can be even deadlier... If you mean it.
Idleblade Does this mean we have to start fighting?
A favorite movie!
@Idleblade
I was going to write that line because this song comes on in that scene.
I really like this song...and era...and film although I preferred 89 Batman and BatmanForever to BatmanReturns but it was still a very good film and I feel so much nostalgia watching it and listening to songs like this.
Meowzzaa
CD DB time has gone way too fast.
I always felt this song is such a great comment on the whole split personality thing that Batman and Catwoman had in the movie. They lyrics are spot on.
Agreed. "The masks they slide to reveal a new disguise" is a lyric that shows this
Siouxsie And The Banshees > smokey and the bandit
I feel this is the perfect Catwoman song
She may not be Michelle Pfeiffer, but the way she sings this song sounds distinctly Catwoman.
true x)
Honestly I think Soucie Souix would have made a better Catwoman than Michelle Pfeifer!
Take me back to summer 1993 when I watched this everyday and wanted every batman toy from Target.
92
I second that. My brother and I watched this movie constantly. My favorite character was Catwoman. :-) Miss the damn 90's terribly.
Ram Mos. Batman Returns toys was only at Kmart of 92
Bonnie Rabbit I remember seeing Batman toys at Target and Walgreens as a kid
I remember watching batman return constantly as a kid I had all the toys and even had the Batman Returns t-shirts
Michelle Pfeiffer will always be my cat woman
"A kiss under the mistletoe. You know mistletoe can be deadly if you eat it".
+Allen Greene but a kiss can be even deadlier if you mean it
+Richard H "Oh my god........ Does this mean we have to start fighting?????"
SAME.
Julie Newmar is mine. But Michelle was pretty good too.
This song was played at my wedding. It was interrupted by a squat man in a top hat surrounded by flightless water fowl. My new wife and I changed clothes and took care of business before this song ended.
I think Siouxise would make a great Catwoman!
She was actually going to play Catwoman in Batman Returns but thought that she was too old and the studio wanted a known actress so they gave the role to Michelle and let get record this song :) I would have loved to see her in the role tho!! Look up get photo shoot as Bastet, the Egyptian cat goddess. Very gorgeous.
+Cody laVada Michelle pfeiffer is only one year younger than her XD
+Sinsdevice ... which means "too old" wasn't the real reason.
Real reason is that Siouxsie has *never* been "classically" beautiful, even when she was young. She's always been dangerously hot. So she'd be miscast as Catwoman (heart of gold, and all that). She needs to be a pure villainess. Poison Ivy perhaps.
La Fille Des Bois she dose
Totaly!!!!!
went as Siouxsie for Halloween because she is my Icon.
Batman Returns one of the few holiday season movies I enjoy
Batman Returns and Die Hard are Christmas movies
CHANGE MY MIND
also Siouxsie in a catwoman outfit meow purrfect
Another life
Another time
We're Siamese twins writhing intertwined
Face to face
No telling lies
The masks they slide to reveal a new disguise! PERFECT!
Does this mean we have to start fighting?
I first heard this song in the theater when the credits rolled on Batman Returns. I heard an equally haunting song during the closing credits of Bram Stoker's Dracula. Face To Face and Annie Lennox's Love Song for a Vampire perfectly complemented both movies.
+William Norton ALL great songs indeed
+William Norton True!
My thoughts exactly!
I miss the 90's back in 93 or 94 I use to watch batman returns over and over on HBO lol
Good ol days
Siouxsie Sioux looking even better the older she gets
This was the absolute perfect song for Catwoman, in that film.
Depressing, lonely, dark, love it.
...you remember that beautiful scene when this song was played..." a kiss under a mistletoe ..." i love it...
I would certainly like to see this sequence in high definition.
One of Siouxsie's best. Hot!
I had this song on a cassette single when I was a little girl and I played it such it eventually broke. A beautiful creepy song. Also my favorite Batman movie ever 💓
1 of my favorite Siouxsie songs. The instrumental along with the lyrics&how she sings it is hauntingly seductive &dark. Just my cup of tea.
Siouxie, a true Gothic Goddess
I’d watch this movie through the end credits just to hear this song in its entirety!! The day my dad came home with this movie on home video after its release was one of my best childhood memories!!!
1,000 Likes without a Comment hahaha- i did the same thing!! Haha so funny
Ah Siouxsie Sioux we love you.
I'm remember watching Batman return when I was very little. I watched that every time I get off from school. Just listening to this song take me back. But also on how 2016 turn out. Let 2017 be a better year for everyone
Carlos Fontanez me too and my name is Carlos as well
Always love this song!!!!!!!!!!!
"Mistletoe can be deadly if you eat it."
"But a kiss can be even deadlier if you mean it."
I still don't forgive Warner Bros for completely changing the franchise from dark to campy. I wanted Michelle Pfeiffer back as Catwoman.
If that state of affairs had not occurred, we may not have ultimately reached where we are today via the "Dark Knight Trilogy" and onwards.
Geoff Beresford Yeah that's true. Warner Bros knew they made a mistake.
+Geoff Beresford Schumacher was pretty much handcuffed by the studio to make it campy and for kids. He did want to do something like Year One.
Yeah, they had a choice: (1) Keep going with the dark mood that Burton has established and stop marketing junk toys to kids or (2) or give in the busy body mothers and tone the movies down so they can sell junk toys to kids.
I saw someone online (forgot who or where) who wisely pointed out that they COULD'VE made more money selling expensive collectibles to adult fans and keeping the series like it was in the Burton directed movies.
other way round they were campy... circa 1960's batman. in the 1980's frank miller reset batman and turned him uber dark and they havent looked back since... thought i will admit batman TAS was pretty balanced.
I’ve grown to have a great appreciation for her vocal control, put to excellent use on this song.
Pure nostalgia.
LOVE this song.. especially the parts where she growls... :rawwr:
Love the band, love the movie, love the girl (Siouxsie), I ADORE the SONG!!!!!!1
Such a beautiful song! God I LOVE this song!
Michael Keaton's Batman is a beast!
Amazing song. Siouxsie how can words describe you? Love you still as always.
I can't wait to see somebody portray a Penguin that's fitting of Danny DeVito's portrayal; the way Heath Ledger did Jack Nicholson's. Because I remember somebody said Jack's was the definitive version, and Heath matched him, if not surpassed. So far, Danny's is the best Oswald Cobblepot to date. Make it happen Warner Bros.
I love this song so much and it is one of the reason why I LOVE Tim Burton's Batman Returns to the point that it is my all time favourite movie :D
Siouxise and the Banshees is one of my favorite bands of all time and “Face to Face” fits perfectly into “Batman Returns”. I got it on BR soundtrack and it’s so much better than that “Kiss From A Rose” by Seal. Fuck Him!
Ryan Goulden Funny thing that Kiss From A Rose by Seal was also in the soundtrack of another crappy movie from the mid 1990s Neverending Story 3
His fucked up face is his punishment for his shitty music…HEHEHE!
Ryan Goulden If Seal made that song just a few years earlier that Kiss From A Rose song would have been in the soundtracks of Robocop 3 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III
yup
Damn, I just love this song so much....
purrr siouxsie,in that catsuit,wow! i daredn't even tell you what i'm thinking
Damn this song & her voice is PERFECT!!
Irvin Harvey III you have purrfect ears
Danny Elfman, Tim Burton, Christopher Walken, and Michelle Pfiefer. Hell yeah.
Michelle Pfeipfer was incredible as Catowman... but like if you agree with this: I could see Fairuza Balk knocking that role out of the park. She was in The Craft, American History X, and The Waterboy. She'd have been great with the psychotic yet sexy thing.
Weapon of Light I actually have always wanted Fairuza to be Harley Quinn. No woman can pull off a more demented laugh than her. One of my favorite actresses.
Totally agree
James Knott Yep!
I could totally see it, especially with those beautiful but slightly unnerving eyes.
she looks as good in this video as Kiss them for Me
I listened to this song on repeat almost 8 hours a night every day in october for in 2005 & 2006 lol. I was in a monster in a vampire maze at a theme park that puts on an annual halloween event lol. This song worked great in there
Best Batman movie song ever.
WOW, CAN SHE PRRRRRRR....
Favorite movie, awesome song, take me back to my childhood.
Beautiful tune and highlights how monumentally good the first couple of movies were; they'll always be my favourite. Although I'd seen Batman in the cinema and will never forget that experience, I did miss seeing Batman Returns, which is a huge regret of mine to this day.
Loved michael keaton as Batman... Got used to him with Michelle pfeiffer, LOVE THE LICK SCENE that catwoman gives batman, ahhhhhh, one of my fav movies!
Not sure about you guys but BATMAN RETURNS brought me here
this band is always so amazing.
Bought the soundtrack on cassette tape when it came out just for this song.
This song is how I discovered this band. My Danny Elfman obsession in high school led to my Sioixsie obsession in college. A beautiful song.
My favourite Batman film! I really love this song ^^
Great video, Great song, Great movie.
Michelle Pfeiffer as ever perfect - at whatever she wants, but Ertha kitt LIVED it - she WAS CATWOMAN... rrrreowrrr!
Takes me back.
Best Batman Movie EVER and the Best Song! The lyrics are a true indication of the torment that both Selina and Bruce are constantly in.....LOVE IT!
Siouxsie is so much beautiful...
I remember hear this in the Batman movie and bought the soundtrack a week later. Also like Shakespeare's Sister "Stay".
Moises Moran 2 great songs
I've been a fan for a long time and just noticed the nod to siamese twins by the cure.
I Love Siouxsie And The Banshees
Actually 1992's Batman Returns, played when Bruce and Selina start to dance in Schreck's ball.
I'm proud to own this on vinyl.
Siouxsie Sioux in a catsuit.
Nuff said.
It's, "I hate to stay but then I hate to leave."
Being born after that era and having seen the new Batman movies, I must say that Batman Returns is still the best. There's only one Batman, one Catwoman and one Mr Penguin-no other people can ever replace them.
great song.. the ideal "make-out song" indeed..
I love her hair and her outfits.
My favorite band of all time ❤
a true love song; dark, romantic, not to mention very very raw. unlike mainstream romantic songs with cheesy lyrics.
Siouxie looks so beautiful in this vid all my friends and I were infatuated with her in high school way back in the 80s
That voice sets my soul on fire... I'd do anything for her
there are many reason's to why batman returns is 1of my favorite movie's, Great Cast Tim Burton and Great Song list for the movie, sleepy hollow is my favorite followed but batman returns : )
My favorite song by Siouxsie and the Banshees. Love it.
Can you recommend any other songs or albums from them with a similar sound? I like this a lot as well.
I remember loving this song as a ten year old. I'd let the vhs tape keep playing to hear this song. here i am at 35 looking it up
Siouxsie is like a fine wine....... better and better with age.
So sad that there is only 322 comments for this video. Love them! 💖💖💖
I love this song.
Fantastic song, the best Catwoman, and I love Siouxsie's cat-claw multi-finger ring!!
Best batman film hands down... at least to me. Amazing song
Siouxsie and the Banshees smashed it with this song. Brilliant talent. :) ONE LOVE! :)
I respect Prince's talent, but his Batdance failed to be the song that the first Batman film deserved. This song, along with U2's and Seal's are the best.
Danny DeVito is a GOD in this movie!!! Best role of his, nobody can play this character like THAT! I luv this song last 16 years!
This song completely sums up Catwoman...this totally fits her character.
If they ever decide to make another Catwoman movie, this song has got to be in there somewhere.
just perfect. love the song and video!
Totally agree, the best in the Batman franchise and this is one of my favourite songs ever!! Think it was the 1st song (or one of the 1st) that i ever bought.
Like all popular classics, Batman always works no matter what context or visual style he may be presented in, either on film, on stage, or in graphic-novel. Which, of course, is the test of any great character or fundamental theme you might choose to name.
This video is one of the most beautiful videos ever. On top of that, Tim Burton really captured the song down pat in his direction. I could think of no other way to film this song without being too horribly blunt.
Excellent, excellent video.
I've always loved this song, but I'm just seeing the video for the first time in 2019. They did a good job. Fits the mood of the song. They didn't ruin it visually like some videos ruin songs.
pure nostalgia
The Banshees and the movie studio couldn't have done a better job with this song. It is very UNDER-rated, it is the perfect marriage of late Banshees pop sheen fitting perfectly with Tim Burton's more commercial goth aesthetics, along with the appeal of something akin to the glamour and bigness of a James Bond theme song (which I think most people missed). The added sensuality and cooing by Siouxsie Sioux puts it over the top. It should have actually been a hit.
One has to imagine what radio would have been like if niche genres like goth rock, post punk or dream pop had made stronger commercial inroads instead of being squashed by Grunge in america and Britpop in the UK. In an alternative universe, beloved bands like The Cocteau Twins, The Banshees, Danielle Dax and Lush would have been huge commercial superstars.
pure awesomeness
“They say follow your heart, follow it through - but how can you when it’s split in two” love love the lyrics...
You did an awesome job with this video! The scenes from the movie blend in extremely well with both the original video clip and the song. Brilliantly done!
awsome song ! and this was the best batman film all the actors were puuuurrrrfect lol
I remember watching this video in Planet Hollywood in Chicago almost 30 years ago. Good lord...
