  • ‪@oldguyandabike‬ takes a quick look at the Trek Blendr system for integrating a rear light, seat pack, and more to your bike. Is there a catch? Just one.

Thank you for showing me how to attach and detach the fender from the mount. When I bought the fender and the mount at the bike store, they had attached one to the other, and I wasn’t quite sure how to get the fender off so that I could mount the Blendr Fendr to my Trek saddle. Great video, thank you from Simi Valley, California.

I am so glad I came across your video! I agree, the Trek site is terrible explaining this system. I purchased my Trek last summer and just now realized I have an integrated Blendr stem and the seat I purchased has this system as well. The only thing the sales person advised me of is that I can clip a saddle bag on the seat if I wished to. I've had my light strapped around the seat post and could have had it clipped on the seat all this time. 🤦

9:57 I just saw that exact thing on AE. A bracket for the saddle rails that has a Blendr-compatible mount on it.
    Aluminum and weighs 35g
    Not bad

Yeah, Project 1 custom. We found it in a bike shop where someone had ordered it and backed out. It's like a new bike. Going up for sale soon as that is a few generations of road bike old now. Mrs. Grannygear has a short attention span, same as me, when it comes to bikes.

I like it. They should make an adapter so it can fit Specialized saddles. Nice way to stick it to Spesh for doing nothing useful with their SWAT saddle mount.

I’ve been meaning to ask you, on a different topic. Are you still using and endorsing aMTBer 53/11 wax lube? I made a commitment to it close to a year ago and always wonder if I made the right choice. Only because I have a 380$ cassette and expensive chainrings. I have preemptively replaced my Xtr chain (MTB) and I also use it on my road bike. I’m at 5000 miles total for the year. Should I worry? Everything seems great though the product is expensive. Can you post an update? We are following your footsteps my good old man and I wonder if I’m alone?

Hmmm. I am still very much using it across all the bikes in the house. Have you been able to measure wear on the chain? That is a pretty good indicator of how things are going. Replacing a chain is sure cheaper than that cassette.

That rear light is not designed well in my opinion, and at 8:50 you illustrate exactly why. The lip on the rear of the light which engages the clip on the mount is only 0.1 mm high, which is inadequate to engage the clip securely. Otherwise, I'm all in on the Blendr systems. Gorgeous bike.
