IDF-Hamas Street Battles In Gaza, Israel Defends Rafah Assault As "Precise", US Warns Of "Anarchy"

- Israel stepped up its bombardment on the eastern areas of the Rafah city of Gaza, killing people in an airstrike on a house in the Brazil neighbourhood. Residents claim Israeli tanks have cut off the Salahuddin Road that bisects the eastern part of Rafah, which remains a "ghost town”. Israeli tanks, under cover of heavy fire from air and ground, pushed further into Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip on May 13. The armed wing of Hamas said its fighters were engaged in gun battles with Israeli forces in one of the streets east of Rafah, and in the east of Jabalia. Meanwhile, the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned that an all-out Israeli offensive on Rafah would provoke "anarchy" without eliminating Hamas.

Palestinians in gaza were already informed more than a month ago that the idf will be operating in rafah and thay they should leave.
Yet they chose to stay, hoping that their presence in rafah as human shields for hamas will delay israel's assault and allow their terrorist hamas rulers to prepare more or escape from rafah. They also obviously aimed at forcing countries to pressure israel to accept a ceasefire by painting the scenario that any israeli assault in rafah will result into a human catastrophe.
The deception worked. Israel now has a more difficult situatioin in rafah at hand.

Saw the pictures of safe zones some 7 days before the operation started. Why didn't they go then itself? Why wait until the operation start? Why the hospitals were not provided with sufficient equipments, when they were able to procure and store such a huge amount of weapons in the modern tunnel networks? Why complain now?
