I got a cheap gy6 150 farm style quad for £60 non running but it seems like it needs a few bits doing to it to run
Gy6 motors. Are pretty bulletproof. And easy to work on.
Cheap Chinese is what we bought to get my kids started, I’d recommend it too before you go drooping thousands and thousands for name brand quads. Like you said either you know how to work on them or learn and it won’t hurt as much if they break or the kids fall 😂 as they don’t have as much power. Mine love it and have since upgraded to a bit better quads.

Id recommended a good ole yamaha blaster for half the cost and 10X the reliability. Also kids only get bigger. Id stay away from these new
These are more of a bike that when you see for 100 dollars you buy em and get em going and beat the tits off em woth the boys on a weekend
Yeah they started out with new Coleman 125cc each now they have a blaster and a 250 trx ex. But prices here in the Pacific Northwest are outrageous. The Coleman’s were 1300 each new and the blaster was 2300 it needed new reeds, oils and tuning lights still aren’t hocked up and the trx needed a new carb and rear tires and it was 3000. So to start out I’d still say cheap Chinese and then something a bit more stronger and more reliable once they get the hang of it.
The 250cc ATVs run a LOT better after removing the muffler and tuning the carb.

Actually, there is a bump in the exaust.. about 6 inches long.. about 8 inches after the motor.. thats a catalytic converter... i just cut one open last night.. runs much better..
