There's many reasons why someone would be watching math videos. But I will be giving one of the best reasons. Math is one of the best ways to give your brain a daily work out, which in return will cut your chances of being diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's by at least 30%.

The last simplification does not equal to -8x or -7x....first she says that we need to find two numbers that multiply that also add together to equal to the middle term...then in the last rational expression all we do is multiply and ignore that the two multiples do not add together to make the middle terms anymore...I am really confused and it hard to type out, but please anyone help me....we have (3x-6)(5x+2) which multiply to -12 but do not add to -8. Watching this video and being able to keep up with the calculation I stumble upon why so many of us were so bad at math back when. I think the last time I did this stuff was circa 2002, and I remember it being oh so hard. The teacher walked us through a couple examples akin to problem 1 in this video- easy enough in class, even if you're new to these problems. Then we got the homework, which was 33% of our grade in that wretched year long class, and all the problems were akin to problem 3 in this video; the philosophy seemingly being "Well, if we show you how to work problems you won't develop logic. Instead of us teachers teaching you stuff, just use LOOOOOOOGIIIIIIIIIC!" If I recall my class of 25 had like 6-7 people who passed (barely in some of those cases) this section. I appreciate these videos, even now years later!

Nanci Pi, MIT graduate, you’re smart and make Math beautiful just like you! You make math fun and doable. However, my son’s teacher will throw in exotic problems such as this: (2x-5)(x+3)/15-3x less or = 0. Where he has to graph the solution set and write it using interval notation. We have asked several people with our circle who are Math majors who get stumped because the haven’t had to do such problems in a long time.
Teachers like the one my son has give Math a sour taste for kids who are already struggling. What is most frustrating to my son is that the teachers seems to work the easier problem in class on the board, but leave the more difficult ones for homework. Isn’t the goal to win kids to Math? Thank you in advance for helping to sweeten things up a bit for my son and so many others. 🙏 😃
    Signed,
A concerned, yet hopeful mom who wants her kids to love Math like you do! 🥰🤗❤️

We do not really "cancel the factor". Rather we multiply by 1/(x-1) in the numerator and in the denominator. By doing that nothing changes since it comes back to multiplying by 1, if the denominator is different from 0.

I'm sorry, I can't concentrate, you're too beautiful, I'm just hypnotized watching you talk and it's not sinking in. I watched this 3 times already and I end up just looking at you instead of the numbers.

did you guys notice 1 thing in 2nd question what she said is
Multiply 2 numbers that give us positive 2 and if we add them it gives us negative 3 which is -2 -1 ( timing 6:40 - 6:50 ) ( if we multiply these we gonna get positive 2 ) and if we add them its gonna give us -3
    which is okay UNDERSTOOD
    BUT
in 3rd question, she didn't do that.
TIMING ( 12:23 - 12:30 ) she is writing -2 ( 5x -6 ) ( 2x +1 ) but if we look at it as she said in 2nd question, in this we should multiply 2 numbers to get -6 but also add them to get -7
it should be -6 and -1 because if we add them we gonna get -7 and if we multiply we gonna get -6...
but she didn't do that and it's quite confusing. in the 2nd question, she is telling us to do something but in the 3rd question, she isn't doing that....

Why do we not have to add our 2 factors to equal the middle term? The last simplification does not equal to -8x or -7x....first she says that we need to find two numbers that multiply that also add together to equal to the middle term...then in the last rational expression all we do is multiply and ignore that the two multiples do not add together to make the middle terms anymore...I am really confused and it hard to type out, but please anyone help me....we have (3x-6)(5x+2) which multiply to -12 but do not add to -8. What did I miss? please help!????!!
