You are right their videos looked different then vs now different quality, Their company used to be so broke they were close to bankruptcy. And These guys went through hell and back to get where they are at today. And this is why everyone loves them. They came from nothing to the biggest group in the world yet they still remain humble. Hope you watch the bts guide by Taylor, I really think you will enjoy it

BTS are a very versatile group, they do pop, HipHop, ballad, RnB, Latin pop, etc. BTS also have 3 rappers and 4 vocalist. The rappers are RM, j-hope, and Suga. The vocalist are Jimin, V, Jin, and Jungkook. BTS are the group who introduced the world to kpop. BTS started from the bottom, When they first debuted, BTS and their agency, Big Hit Entertainment, were considered small players in the world of K-pop (during this time kpop wasn’t worldwide it was mostly just listened to in Korea). As a result, they struggled to get recognized among their more established peers. Other kpop groups even looked down on them and mocked them without any reason. And yet BTS managed to be bigger than the Kpop industry itself and that’s why many army’s don’t view them as Kpop since they go beyond that. BTS even made their small company which was about to go through bankrupt, become the biggest company and that company (HYBE but used to be just Bighit) also goes beyond kpop now, they signed Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, etc. BTS also write their own music and they also produce. BTS also has two professional dancers which are j-hope and Jimin. Also RM and Suga were underground rappers before debuting in BTS. They went through many hardships, I really hope u get to know them and their music more 🫶 I would recommend reacting to the guide to the BTS members by Taylor and also watch the series of the rise of bangtan 💜💜💜

You probably would have connected better had the version you picked had lyrics. Unfortunately there are a few videos which require a search for English subs as the algorithms do not direct listeners there. No More Dream is one of these. This track actually is about the younger generation in South Korea which for a bunch of societal reasons tends to pursue a path based not on their own dreams but the expectations of their elders. BTS is challenging young people not to be hypocritical to themselves by saying they are following their own dreams when more often they are just following a prescribed path and telling themselves that success along the way is fulfilling their dreams. As such it is provocative for a debut track in a largely vanilla Idol world.

Since their debut BTS showed that they were different, since this song is a social criticism of the way families impose on young people what they should study or what they are going to dedicate themselves to, with it a lot of extra hours of study (this is because the place a student occupies among those of his degree is considered very important, and especially the results of the CSAT that is presented in the last year of high school).
That's why BTS asks young people what their dreams are and invites them to follow them.

The difference between BTS and other groups is they started of as hip hop lovers and rappers who formed into an idol group whereas others are regular idol groups who include rap in their tracks.
Once you hear their old tracks a few times you will enjoy them more. And find the lyrics! They were at school so talked about school life and young love. They were youths so talked about growing up and the tough times that comes with it. They have always spoken from their hearts.💜

You hit it on the nail.. they were all kids except for Jin. Ages was 14, 15, 15, 18, 18, 19, and 20 upon debut. They write 90% of their music and produce a lot of it. Hope you enjoy the guide.

      Close.
Remember, it was filmed in early summer of 2013 and came out in June.
Jin - December 4, 1992. He was 20 (since he hadn't had his b-day yet).
Suga - March 9, 1993. He was 20 (since his b-day had just passed).
J-Hope - February 18, 1994. He was 19 (also since his b-day had just passed).
RM - September 12, 1994. He was 18 (so, even though he and Hobi are born in the same year, Hobi is older by 7 months...and Joonie's b-day hadn't passed yet).
      Jimin - October 13, 1995
      V - December 30, 1995
Jimin's older, but neither of their birthdays had passed yet so they were both 17.
      Jungkook - September 1, 1997. He was 15.
So...technically/legally speaking...4 of them were kids. Korean legal age is 19.

BTS's song "No More Dream" was their debut song, and you are right that their music and style have changed since the beginning. Initially, when BTS debuted, they were supposed to be a hip-hop group, but now they are a K-Pop Idol group, so their beats were different back then. And to answer your question about the members' ages, Taylor's guide to BTS will mention their ages and give you a better background on who the members are on an individual level. As you continue going down the BTS rabbit hole, I strongly recommend watching BTS's second single "No" and "We are Bulletproof Pt 2", which is one of the first few songs that the BTS members have written. Later on in your BTS Journey you will find songs with English subs, but that won't happen until 2015 or 2016 when you will start to get into their Most Beautiful Moment in Life series and their Wings era. But as always, thank you for your honest reaction and for reading our comments. 💜

Until just recently S Koreans counted age differently. You were counted one year at birth and another year at the new year, even if you were born at the end of December just a few days before. The ages I gave in the post above are Global age, what we use in the US, counting from zero at birth. When you watch the Taylor guide or other clips where they talk about their ages, they will usually be using S Korean age and so they will say an older number.
For instance, in thr Taylor guide, Jungkook mentions joining and moving into the dorm when he was 15. That is S Korean age. He was actually 13 global age and still in middle school when he joined the team and moved into the dorm.

If you like rap, check out some of their rap. All of their songs have a backstory and the mv and lyrics usually tie it together. It's really deep and i know I would not have understood without further explanation lol. Furthermore, some are connected and go in order if you want to really appreciate it. Their live performances for asian music shows (mma and mama) and the grammys 22 really bring something extra. Some of their songs are in relation to what was happening in Korea/the world at the time ex. dynamite which is an upbeat disco pop song was released during covid in hopes of raising people's spirits during difficult times. From their rap I really like Joke, Cypher (all of them), DDaeng, daechwita (by one of the members alter ego-august d) and all august d songs. You seem to like RM, he is the leader and rightfully raps like a boss.
And on top of this they have been asked to speak at the united nations multiple times for their positive messages, met with POTUS Biden to talk about hate crimes, made donations for BLM. John Cena said it best, even if you don't like their music you should be able to respect them for their work and message.

Something I learned just yesterday about JungKook, who was 13 or 14 when he became a trainee and 15 when they debuted, is that although he was given the title of Main Vocalist, he never sang before signing on with Big Hit (other than auditioning, I assume). Suga told us that on his program Suchwita. He had never rapped or danced, but he was on the dance line from the beginning and rapped in their earlier songs. Just wanted to pass that in because the fact that he hadn’t sung before was news to me.
