I find it interesting that the kata is being labeled as Kyan no Chinto, when Matsumora Kosaku was the practitioner that modified it to Tomari techniques after learning it from Bushi Matsumura. Do you know the reason why they kept it to Kyan? Which branch of Shorin-Ryu does this particular kata originate from? Some of the technique variants I find pretty interesting.

Hava a look on Shorin-Ryu-Seibukan version. This is one originally how Shimabukuro Zenrio Sensei learned from Kyan Sensei. Very Similiar to this one but with different stances. This one is using more Goju-Ryu typical srances. Kyan Sensei was a Shorin-Ryu grand master.

I would like to ask you a question! :)
Chinto and Kyan No Chinto that you do are pretty the same thing ? Just asking because there you declared chinto but the video title says “kyan no chinto”, thank you if you will see this comment :)

Luca Andreani originally I learned this kata with the name “chinto” but it’s specifically named “Kyan no chinto” I was afraid that people will think Chinto as a basic kata (since it’s a basic kata for wado ryu) so I started to announce the name more formally with the name “Kyan no Chinto” thank you for the great question!

I think only the variant with 45° embusen is related to Kyan. This way to move in a fight was Kyan style.
