My favorite risers are ones that work !! The highest failure rate for me was with the ones from nerdgearz, couple of them right out of the box were doa. Have some ubit risers still going strong and even still have the first risers I ever bought running on one rig.
I guess the more you have the more problems you will have...... Great info !!!

    @Red Panda Mining Hi there.
What does your experience say about the time it usually takes for a bad riser to fail?
Also, how do they usually stop working? Did you ever have a bad riser damaging a gpu or the rest of the hardware?

I did some mining in 2018, and then I figured it is only the risers with 6-pin PCIe power connectors which I wanted to use. I didn't buy any risers with SATA or MOLEX connectors, stayed away from them. Only PCIe power connectors, nothing else, just to make sure there is no components prone to heating due their low power capacity. The risers I used were 006C, and the newer version having added 2 LEDs on the riser, their version is 009S I think.

My motherboard is the ASUS X570 ROG CROSSHAIR VIII, MOST OF YA'LL Know how high end and expensive it is. as soon as power came on it caught fire melting my PCIE X1 slot. I wish there was a way to hold them accountable for my and Im sure a lot of peoples damages. AS I was just typing this Im going to contact Amazon (WE all know its a waist of time) but ask them to hold the sellers to a higher standard of their products especially in the tech space cheap or out dated material should"t be used that can cause people to thousands of dollars. luckily I was there to stop it My daily driver thats also morphing into a rig cost me $3300 or more. I know most of the people on here have way more money in it .If it would have taken a couple minutes to malfuction. I would have walk away till I realized my entire home burned down. If anyone wants and interested about me trying to confront this problem Amazon. let me know I will record it or something. I highly doubt anyone even read all this muchless gives a $h!t about I tell amazon but I will try and get them to do something to fix a $380 MOBO WHhich now have the minIifng boom anyprices on everything electronic. graphics cards from 20 years ago with 256mb MEM COST a couple hundred. and my board is listed at almost $600 ne doesnt think these Risers are not that big of a deal I am sure a few people might believe it also or I am throwed off 51/50 lmao sorry about long comment RED but it just happened and Im going to be scared to leave them running alone. That second last riser you referred to as "ubit" appears to have all switching conversion for +3V3 meanwhile all the old ones + your newest addition have dodgy converter that is patched up by by a linear regulator which provide clean +3V3 but are very inefficient and heat up more.
I would say the "ubit" one is the best.

what is the mistake i am doing??
tried on 2 different mother boards and different processors but no success..

  • @thebeebeescryptomining4422

My fav risers were the unpowered grey ribbon cable ones, in a milk carton. It meant my GPU's were mining BTC.
The blue and red PCB style risers only seem to mine poopcoins :joy:

you say you are a small miner, i suppose if you compare your self to the Mining Farms od 1000+ rigs then yes. unfortunately those ppl don't care about sharing their knowledge or experience with us. This makes you qualified to say "in my experience" instead of "this is not advice" because your experience is tested and refined so in a way you are a teacher to us who have 1-10 rigs. I have 1 rig and the info you share helps a lot, helps me bypass mistakes. Thank you.

Hey Panda, I have a 12 card miner with the asus b250 mining expert that has an issue. I keep getting restarts and it's always because a card 'falls off the bus'. Think I should replace the risers? It's all nvidia and I don't believe it's any bad gpus.

def check risers, and those little pcie 1x adapters that go into the motherboard. Its most likely the issue in most cases!

That middle one the 007 one is my favorite. I think I only have 5ish or so of them.
    I have
PCE164P-N04 Ver008S (white and red) : I don't like the 6 pin location but I like the sliding locks
N03 Ver006c (black and red): Again sliding connector with the one 6 pin
N03 Ver006c (dark blue and light blue): Dont really like this one that much. Little tab thing doesn't lock to great. Pci has a weird push tab thing
164p-N03 Ver7 and 164p-no7 ver7(dark blue and light blue) : These ones have my favorite locking tab. They're different but pretty much the same

Would anyone here experience their rigs freezing because of VER008S risers? Ever since I’ve moved my 1660 to an 008 riser it kept freezing after about 3-4hours. I’ve now replaced it with a 009S riser and it’s stable so far for 12hrs now.
