For the potato salad, it is best to have your ingredients fridge température BEFORE adding the ingredients. If it is hot, the mayo breaks down and it is dry.

Good to know! Yes hot potatoes absorb everything! I always let potatoes cool a bit before adding butter. Hadn’t thought about it with potato salad.

The skewers: could you not just put the chicken, pebers and pineapple in a bag pour the marinade over and shake it around so everything is coated. Then spread on a baking sheet in a single layer. The same taste none of the bother of using the skewers.

I made a version of the bread from part 1. My husband loved it. It wasn't exactly that recipe, I used what I had in my fridge to try to clean some stuff out. Husband thought it was yummy. I had left over french bread from a family party, the spread was butter, pepper jack cheese, garlic, pickled jalapeño from my garden, and spices. Thanks for the inspiration to use up my abundance of jalapeño from this summer.

Great vid and recipes for sure!! First, let me say, those who have so much to say about how you don't follow recipes exactly need to back up & chill. Your kitchen, YOUR RULES!! That is part of the FUN of cooking, tweaking recipes to suit your family's tastes. There may simply be an ingredient(s) you don't like or you want to add more. I mean, I hate eggs (esp hard boiled). My potato salad has NO eggs, pickles, pickle juice, mustard, bacon or celery. I cut my potatoes small, add mayo, ranch dressing, seasoning, apples, onions and peppers (all cut very small pieces). Simple, but SO DEEE-LICOUS!! So, YOU GO, KEEP IT REAL and make it YOUR OWN, like you always do. Hugz Arlene 😁

We have have the same issue with skewers. So my husband takes all the ingredients for skewers and cooks it in a cast iron skillet on the grill (or on the range if doing in doors). Just keep stirring it frequently while cooking till done. Taste just as good and now wasted time on putting together the skewers.

You can use the teriyaki marinade to boneless skinless chicken breast or flank steak for 12-24 hours then grill whole- delicious. I chop my onions and peppers and cook in aluminum foil with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Slice the meat thin and serve on Hawaiian rolls! YUM!!
Also try egyptian koshari to eat your lentils. I serve it on rice, spaghetti and macaroni noodles all together. You will probably have all the ingredients in your pantry.

I like to add a little milk to my Mayo when making tater salad. It thins out the Mayo and makes more of a sauce. I also chill my taters before dressing them. Hot potatoes will absorb all of the liquid and make your potato salad dry. I also like to add some pickle or peppercini juice 😉

I always add dill pickle juice to my mayo to thin it out slightly in both my potato & macaroni salads. Cooling the potatoes is key to keeping it moist. Also I add the slightly diluted mayo and let it set for a couple of hours before adding the rest of the ingredients. Can add some undiluted mayo at this time.

My thoughts on following recipes. How many of us have had to come up with recipe measurements for friends and family for recipes we just make, without measuring. I think measurements are mostly suggestions. Even In baking there is some margin of variation for some ingredients. I think this is how pioneer woman cooks. She makes a recipe and comes up with the best measurements she can. Just my few cents. 😁
🥔🥗AND since I missed the potato salad portion of the video, I need to go back and watch that now. For potato salad, I make mine from a America’s Test Kitchen episode I saw years ago. I sprinkle yellow mustard and dill pickle juice over the hot, drained potato pieces on a cookie sheet (I cut mine smaller before cooking). I put the sheet in the fridge to chill. Then I make the rest of the sauce mayo, onion, chopped dill pickle, celery, salt pepper, etc. some times add sour cream if I’m feeling it. Add the sauce to the cooked potatoes, maybe some chopped boiled eggs. The hot potatoes marinating and soaking up the mustard and pickle flavor is awesome.

I hate skewers for their time consuming issues as well, so my husband found these kabob grilling baskets, they are long and skinny you toss your vegetables, fruit, meat whatever in your sauce, then spray these baskets with oil, pop your food in them and grill...... best non skewer, way to grill, and when your done pop the baskets in a 5 gallon bucket with hot soapy water to soak, use a kitchen brush to clean......easy peasy....lemon squeasy!!!

While I do try to follow a recipe exactly, sometimes I do make substitutes b/c I lack a specific ingredient or I don't care for a particular food item... keep up the great videos, Christine 🤗🌻

I love your celebrity recipe videos, and your other cooking videos too. The biggest reason I hesitate to make celeb recipes is because I think they ask for more money and time and higher calories. Would you be able to do a comparison on celeb verses your frugal fit versions? I would love to see the price and calorie breakdowns. Also let’s be real, cheesecake calories don’t count and pork chops were a fabulously easy and normal recipe. Thanks and keep being amazing.

I’ve made that cheesy jalapeño French bread with olives 4 times since you posted the last Pioneer Woman’s recipe video. Soooooo good. And yes Ma’am, Whataburger and H‑E‑B…..if you know, you know! Favorite burger place. Hands down.
