Wish I knew what it felt like to be a part of that drum break at the end, Knowing that at that moment, you and the rest of the drumline are the most awesome thing in the world.
i loved there show!!! regiment to me had one of the most emotional shows of the season... so did the cavies to me... and to actually see them place 3rd in GE... kinda upset me... they worked pretty hard this season... im just happy to see the cavies in the top 5... but regiment winning really made me happy... because now we can call them 2 time world champs!! im looking forward to what they both have instore for next season
It's Drum & Bugle Corps International technically, and thanks guys. This guy definitely marched brass last year. If you want just drums go watch WDL like RhythmX or SCVWDL or The Green Thunder.
ah i was there! in indiana. it was really cool. i totally thought, after quarters and semis, that BD would take it, but holy crap phantom climed BD and Cavies like a ladder. The Cavaliers are sort of my favorite, too.
that pit warmup!! I love it!! MCM played it this past year and standing ten feet in front of them was amazing. Of course it has changed a little. I believe the center marimba wrote it and lifted some of the chords and progressions from a marimba piece entitled Michi. Cavies sound and look amazing this year. very strong!
@drumiestdrummer Michael Gaines. He wrote for them for like 25 years or something like that. Unfortunately, 2011 was his last season as the Cavaliers drill writer
It sucks to perfect it but I love it so much more than how they march I just think marching like that just requires too much energy and I love the way straight leg looks
I'm no longer much of a Cavies fan, but I'm glad to see their making changes that seem to be improving their show a lot. I also wouldn't mind it if they beat BD this year. ;-)
@Superunknownful I'm not sure but at :47 they're playing the opening to the eric ewazen marimba concerto. Supposed to be in rolls but they made it a block chord exercise. Cool!
The Excels they used to use are literally the cheapest equipment you can get. They let you customize the part of your harness that was not visible through the uniform.
Yeah, I'm already a huge Cavies fan. All their musicality and form is so tight. The pit is amazing. The guard is so beastly and synced. But somehow watching all the videos of the shirtless practices, I get a bit distracted....
actually you don't have to pay four grand, they pay you, you just have to be good enough in the audition to make it and in good enough physical condition to practice 6 hours a day every day. its only ages 18-20 sadly because they don't want alcohol involved. there is also the santa clara van guard
thats funny that you got a shot of Cavalier snare tech playing through SCV's snare break from 2002. I just put up some vids of him playing in SCV's line on finals day playing that exact same solo with ralph and jim and murray walking around checkin him out. Check out my 2002 SCV vids to see what Im talkin about. nice vid by the way
@TacoOnABoat it used to be in old drumlines, the band director would have the bass drummer do cymbals too , cuz having two people do a one man job could mess up timing for both, so they gave it to basses... but here, i think its just for more dynamic figure to add to the pit.. good luck on quads dude... ima pit turned bass player myself :)
well im just a huge fan of the cavies and phantom regiment... cavies for visual and regiment for music... geometry in motion and a wall of sound... more to love... i personally did not like BD's show but its just me they still performed very well though
it's the lick from the mvmt 3 excerpt in the 09 audition packet i can play it, it's actually not that hard if you build up to it, although there is that 15:16 section (no typo lol) which is just plain odd lol
@Jiffybob47 Yes, girls can play in DCI. Cavaliers along with the Madison Scouts only allow men because they formed from the Boy Scouts, but all other corps allow boys and girls; However, trombones and all woodwinds don't participate in DCI. I guess woodwinds just don't make enough sound and trombones are too awkward and clunky to carry.
to be honest BD's show to me doesn't really cut it to win this season trust me i would know and as well as others... tomorrow at the start of world class championships should be a very exciting thing to see... but if you ask me the cavies want to win for there 60th... and i'll hold my class to that go green machine!!
Wish I knew what it felt like to be a part of that drum break at the end, Knowing that at that moment, you and the rest of the drumline are the most awesome thing in the world.

it kills it every year! definatly my favorite
Tracking backwards... WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?
It's Drum & Bugle Corps International technically, and thanks guys. This guy definitely marched brass last year. If you want just drums go watch WDL like RhythmX or SCVWDL or The Green Thunder.
at 0:40 if you cover up their feet, it looks like they are on a conveyor belt going backwards. absolutely flawless...
Man I miss this DCI! This show was such a masterpiece
ah i was there! in indiana. it was really cool. i totally thought, after quarters and semis, that BD would take it, but holy crap phantom climed BD and Cavies like a ladder.
The Cavaliers are sort of my favorite, too.

I want to audition for these guys so bad.. man 2008 was great. Samurai was an awesome show with an awesome theme
I'm digging the design on the carrier of the snare just right of the center.
They had swagger and never got it back, They've had it.
I really enjoy shows like this
I really like the Cadets too. I'm not sure why, but they just give me a good feeling. And I'm with you on the narration. :/
their line is huge!
@drumiestdrummer Michael Gaines. He wrote for them for like 25 years or something like that. Unfortunately, 2011 was his last season as the Cavaliers drill writer
It sucks to perfect it but I love it so much more than how they march
I just think marching like that just requires too much energy and I love the way straight leg looks
thats their style. just super relaxed and fun to march
I'm no longer much of a Cavies fan, but I'm glad to see their making changes that seem to be improving their show a lot. I also wouldn't mind it if they beat BD this year. ;-)
They started out as a Boy Scouts troupe and have kept the tradition of being all male ever since. Same with Madison.
two words..freakin amazing..
dammmm man I'm in the Army and i enjoy watching The Cavaliers. I wish i had the time i would definetely pay 4 grand to march Cavaliers.
I am fully aware, having marched SCV 06 and 07. I was just commenting on how amazing these guys are and the precision they display in their marching.
Thanks Precision That is the key and you guys nailed it.
The drum break is so good that it makes me angry...not out of jealousy, but just so pumped?
Cavies' pit was so baller this year.
wow thats amazing
I'm sitting here going "jesus, that's a high school?!" lol looks like a college field!! sheezus!
@Superunknownful I'm not sure but at :47 they're playing the opening to the eric ewazen marimba concerto. Supposed to be in rolls but they made it a block chord exercise. Cool!
Those carriers are dope
BO!!!! WHAT A BEAST!!!!!
Holy Shit! That was amazing.
A click on the rim of the taiko drums doesnt sound how one would think it would sound, it sounds better!
The dudes twirling around with the flags are hardcore. lol.
If you look at the sideline, he is just chillin there. Hahah
The Excels they used to use are literally the cheapest equipment you can get. They let you customize the part of your harness that was not visible through the uniform.
Damn, INTENSE!
yeah those guys are intense
青春すなー!私も入りたい!
I love what the pit is playing at :47 - 1:04
What is it? Is it part of their show?
love the snare part at 3:30!
i'm pretty sure the stuff the pit was warming up with was from the Ewazen marimba concerto
woa thats alot of work!
Yeah, I'm already a huge Cavies fan. All their musicality and form is so tight. The pit is amazing. The guard is so beastly and synced. But somehow watching all the videos of the shirtless practices, I get a bit distracted....
sick! sick!
Does anyone have the music to Ad Astra (What the pit was playing)? I always thought it was just a Mystique warm up.
huh... i never thought of that. good point though
he is originally a quad guy you can tell by his technique..
1:08 on started giving me chills
they're based off a boy scout troop. so they are keeping it all guys to stay with their boy scout background. just like Madison
Haha, that wouldn't surprise me if it was...Cavies do some crazy stuff
Yeah, and sometimes with Phantom... they're RUNNING while playing walls of sound.. holy crap.
Crown's sound is pretty good too.

I really wish my highschool band practices could be shirtless.
he's playing the finger cymbals.
I'm wondering what the field smells like when its really hot out
Drum corps in HD On your 32" plasma screen TV as your moniter
=D
@TacoOnABoat it used to be in old drumlines, the band director would have the bass drummer do cymbals too , cuz having two people do a one man job could mess up timing for both, so they gave it to basses... but here, i think its just for more dynamic figure to add to the pit.. good luck on quads dude... ima pit turned bass player myself :)
oooooo sweet!
heavy bass-turns @ the end!:P
cant wait for mad world
there sponsor is yamaha but the wooden blocks are im guessing from latin percussion
well im just a huge fan of the cavies and phantom regiment... cavies for visual and regiment for music... geometry in motion and a wall of sound... more to love... i personally did not like BD's show but its just me they still performed very well though
good stuff.
Yeah, him
sorry guys. just wondering.. is this clips are lagging/not smooth in term of visual or is that because of my internet connection?
same here
Quad 3 is my lesson teacher lol, AJ Cowall
it's the lick from the mvmt 3 excerpt in the 09 audition packet i can play it, it's actually not that hard if you build up to it, although there is that 15:16 section (no typo lol) which is just plain odd lol
It's there.
Anyone know what that like Japanese sounding wind instrument at 1:34 is?
@Jiffybob47 Yes, girls can play in DCI. Cavaliers along with the Madison Scouts only allow men because they formed from the Boy Scouts, but all other corps allow boys and girls; However, trombones and all woodwinds don't participate in DCI. anyone have sheet music for the battery on this piece?
At the end of the video, does anyone think that the center snare looks like Gary Busey's son, Jake?
i marched there last year for a contest to march in the Alamo Bowl... i feel completely unworthy...
to be honest BD's show to me doesn't really cut it to win this season trust me i would know and as well as others... tomorrow at the start of world class championships should be a very exciting thing to see... but if you ask me the cavies want to win for there 60th... and i'll hold my class to that go green machine!!
love the pit with those Japanese or Korean drumming.
whats the pit playing at the beginning?
Haha, I understand that, I mean the banished thing, who's that? FHSSnare mentioned him a while back
you didnt march there this year?
Does anyone know which high stadium is this from?
i only see 4 basses in the end?
which one of them is banished beyond?!?!?
@TheAktivision whats that supposed to mean?
@ajkeel haha so true. Didn't even think of that. Tenors=the sexiest instrument =P
4 basses? Was someone missing?
Actually, I looked again, and there are 4 basses in the other run.
wow this makes me wanna march cavvies lol
Marching Cavies would be AMAZING. But marching without any girls would kinda suck
Nice HS stadium.
Oh, and I guess the Cavies are okay too. =D
Is there some sort of good reason why not?
I'm lost, but interested...care to explain? Who are you guys talking about?
@thebinarybiscuit no, just warm up etude i believe
haha
hd is so tight!
since when did val kilner march snare for Cavvies?....
@ConklingDrums yes
SO whats the deal with the different colored harnesses?
@cl0420 its been like that for decades dude xD cavaliers started out as a boy scout group
@Papermate123123 but over all they are really good mallets
