    If you heat the chest on AI Iron Man with a blow dryer for about 30 seconds, you can easily pop out the arc reactor with a small, flat screwdriver. Then paint it whatever color you want and pop it back in.

  • @alandoane9168
    @alandoane9168 Před 2 lety +5

    I love that Hasbro gave us a near-perfect Steve Ditko mid-1960s Iron Man. I am baffled that they paired it with a 1970s Charles Bronson looking Tuska/Colan style Tony Stark head, but I am using it for a kitbashed Death Wish Paul Kersey, so my Ditko shelf and my kitbash shelf both benefit from this release.

      Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Why did they gives us the 70’s head on the 60’s armor?

  • @WiGgYof09
    @WiGgYof09 Před 2 lety +3

    It should be noted that the body on this release is a new mold compared to the 80th and AI releases. The torso is actually a new sculpt as is the waist. It's less ripped than the 80th version and the belt buckle like thing on the waist is a different shape.
    Maybe if Hasbro just reused the full body sculpt and gave us 3 heads (horns, no horns, and unmasked) it would seem like a better figure. Also, if we never had the AI Ironman it would seem like a better figure.

    Dave thank you for making these videos. Whenever I need a break from everything, I'm always so glad to come back to this community and support it any way I can with the patreon and liking every video. I appreciate you getting the new stuff coming out even if you plan on selling them. It's not something you have to do, but it really feels like you're going the extra mile for us fans. I for one can get down with any sort of content you share with us. I'm getting to the point in my collecting game where I have to be more selective of price/space on the shelf, so I understand the feeling of only wanting to pick up stuff you'll appreciate long term.

    I've got the Tony Stark AI figure. I picked him up for $9.99. Unfortunately, he's back up to $19.99. He serves his role well though and makes for a great 70's into the 80's Iron Man. I've got mine facing off against MODOK.

    I think it's a good-looking figure and accomplishes it goal successfully but I already have 80th Anniversary and that's the design that comes to mind when I think of classic Ironman. Like you, I'd sooner buy A.I. Ironman as it's the same buck as the 80th-version.((I'm thinking of putting the Rhodey head from the Deluxe WarMachine on it since he was wearing hat armor around Secret Wars.))

    I love the 20th anniversary Ironman and even though the figure does give me Steve Ditko vibes, I am still happy with the 80 years, AI, Stealth, Silver Centurion, and Modular Ironman for my Ironman armory, Also the 80 years Tony Stark and Stealth Ironman Tony Stark head sculpt are the best head sculpts in my opinion.

  • @D21BeastReviews
    @D21BeastReviews Před 2 lety

    I completely agree with you, Dave. I find the Iron Man and Hulk from this wave completely skippable. Especially if one’s been collecting for a few years now. I plan to get Cap. I never found the 80th Anniversary figure in the wild and wasn’t willing to pay inflated secondary market prices. I’m really hoping Toad ends up being a knockout of unique engineering to make up for all of these repaints/retools.

    The thing that bothers me. That I haven't heard anyone address. Is the fact that this is supposed to be a 20th Anniversary tribute to ToyBiz. Yet they released a fin head Iron Man instead of a shell head. I honestly thought that this release would be A.I. Tony. With a different paint scheme, and head sculpt. We'd get a either a Gold/Red, or a Yellow/Red. Then maybe a Stealth exclusive like the original Wally release.
    Mind you I want a fin head IM. But he shouldn't be a TB anniversary figure. If memory serves TB never even did a fin head in the Legends series.
    Also I don't know what is up with the head sculpts. But whomever the lip lover is. Please just stop letting them do the sculpts. They look weird. I'd heard a name thrown around, but it escapes me now. But just stop please! Hulk & Tony are odd. Sue Storm is horrible. Also that new Doc Ock sculpt looks like it could be the same person. It's a regression. It took Hasbro so long to start really getting things right. Please don't piss it away.

  • @TheShadowchiefstudio
    @TheShadowchiefstudio Před 2 lety

    I like the head, but it's really not my image of Tony. Invincible Iron Man, 80th and Stealth suit, heck even AI Iron Man's Tony Stark head (If it got a non-holo Rerelease in the future) matches how I think of Tony Stark.
    Like you said about the head, it's what I like to call the "Please report to HR, Mr Stark" headsculpt
    Not essential like Cap or even Hulk, but I welcome a new addition to the Hall of Armor, minus the head

    @k4m1l83 Před 2 lety

    I thnik it's a neat figure but I got 80th anniversary which is for me the best figure of iron man in this scale. Comic colours on 20th one are good but gold fits more for me and I love his new Tony Stark head reminds me of comic Demon in a bottle. Only thing it's not okay is the unmasked head it sits I think a little to tall on neck but maybe it's just me. Smoke effects are good but unnecessary. But translucent blast effects are cool. And new iron man helmet of model 2 from comics is good new add we didn't have before. But sadly i gotta say it's weakest figure of this wave hulk and cap are ten times better and I bet Toad will be great too.

    I get it. I think the figure is getting a bad rap though just because it’s undesirable and the price hike. Would Hasbro been better off repainting the 80th and giving us the unmasked head as well as a diorama piece? Probably.
    And conversely, 20th Cap I feel is getting g too much of a pass for not including a regular shield option.

    I'm going to solve this "mystery" for you, Scooby Doo Dave... The reason it feels "cheap" for a "$30 figure" in hand and out of the packaging... Is BECAUSE it IS, in fact, a cheap repaint of a figure we've ALREADY gotten nearly 5 times or so at this point.
    Hasbro is, AS USUAL, milking the HELL out of that cow (Hulk anyone?!), using the SAME figure, with swiped Ironheart parts effects and a couple of new heads (maybe...?), and EVER SO slightly different paint... THEN slapping a $30 price tag on it and passing it as "all wonderfully new and original"!! However, in reality... NO. No, it's NOT ANY of those things. It's overpriced & glorified re-use. Period.
    You should be as pissed and cranked about THIS Iron Man as you were about having to pay $20 for the retro 2099 Spider-Man figure (aside from the breaking part, obviously...).
    Anyway, there you go, buddy! Mystery solved, and unlike Hasbro... There's NO up charge.🤣
    It's really NO mystery at all... 🤔🙄😑
    As for the Iron underwear lines... THAT'S EXACTLY the argument AND purpose for filling IN the quilt lines on... Yep! Shocker... YOUR words, brother, and it definitely applies! 😉
    Overall, while it's basically a decent figure... And I certainly appreciate the nod/throwback to the original Iron Man figure & packaging... I'm NOT buying it (Hulk either!), as I have the 80th, the 2020, & the A.I. versions of this mold, and several others such as "Silver Centurion", Modular, Holographic (which I gave the holographic A.I. Stark head), and several others for my "Hall of Armor" Iron Man suits.
    I never liked or wanted this version, myself, but hey, lots of collectors have that love for it, and the desire to have it in THEIR collections, so I'll be happy for them, and at the same time, happy for my wallet! 😁😁😁
    I really only have an interest in the Cap and the Toad (If they'll EVER quit dragging it out, teasing it, and then sticking their heads back up their asses for months at a time), assuming they're planning to put him out THIS year...🤔🙄🤣

  • @markphillipsphotography2992

    I think I chose this figure for all the reasons you dislike it! I didn't like the shade of gold on the 80 year, or the shape of the helmet, and I really like the sleazy 70s look of Stark, so will display him holding his helmet in the crook of his arm. There's something more whimsical about the tight-fitting yellow armour, because it doesn't look mechanical, so my brain is always wondering how the hell it works, all the while resisting any solid conclusions, because those aren't fun.
    However, I will be displaying him at a distance from my female - and prettier male - figures.

    I would have bought the 80th a long time ago if I didn't know I would have had to break him open and put him together the right way. Hasbro is literally selling a broken figure at that point.

    Gotta agree for the most part on this figure.
    POSITIVES: The helmet-Been wanting this version helmet for a long time; Colors-In sych with the AI figure so that I can USE that AI body with this new mask (and dump the figure's body!); I DO like the gold look, but comic-wise, its always been yellow and red.
    NEGATIVES: Hip disks-WHY ARE THEY NOT ON HERE??; Charles Bronson/Creep Head-UGH, yea agree...NOT being used on my shelf/figure; Smoke effects-WHAAAA??? When and where have we routinely seen 'smoke' effects from repulsors or boot jets?? Blast effects, sure.
    PEEVES: C'mon Hasbro!!! Why not a 'uni-beam' effect instead...or a better Tony Stark head...or an Iron-Man-collapsed-costume-in-a-briefcase accessory? If you didn't want to put on the hip disks, why not make them 'hand-held accessories like he did in the comics to use them for...whatever purpose he used them with on the comics. How about that armor era's 'Rocket Skates'?? Those would've been cool as Hell as an attachment to the peg holes in the feet! I'd half expected a martini glass and a liquor bottle as accessories for him knowing that era's Stark as well! FOR THE PRICE OF THIS THING, I'd expected at least the previously mentioned Iron-Man-collapsed-costume-in-a-briefcase accessory!
    Dave, nice review. You may have went a bit rough towards the figure...but in this case, for the PRICE of this figure and the off-mark content herein, I'd consider it warranted.

Granted Hulk has pickle lips and Ironman's Tony Stank head sculpt is Charles Bronson from "Death Wish". Imo 20th Anniv. Captain America is on the money. Let's just hope Toad doesn't disappoint.
