    Lyrics:
For clear space and soundess of mind
I've let you play me for some time
One can only receive and retain
But the lies you recite for your gain
So you rely on my faith in your kind
Or rather continue to pretend that I'm blind
You say I made your life a living hell
And yet still let me pay you when I fell
How is it you're feeling so uneasy?
How is it that I feel fine?
Life reveals what is dealt through seasons
    Circle comes around each time
I've been blessed with eyes to see this
Behind the unwhole truth you hide
Bite to remind the bitten, bigger
    Mouth repaying tenfold wide
    I'm above
    Over you I'm standing above
    Claiming unconditional love
    Above
Try to keep bad blood in the past
Never thought a chance, a chance it would last
I have strength enough, enough to forgive
I desire peace where I live
I've been blessed with eyes to see this
Behind the unwhole truth you hide
Bite to remind the bitten, bigger
    Mouth repaying tenfold wide
How is it you're feeling so uneasy?
How is it that I feel fine?
Life reveals what is dealt through seasons
    Circle comes around each time
    I'm above
    Over you I'm standing above
    Claiming unconditional love
    Above
    I'm above
    Over you I'm standing above
    Claiming unconditional love
    Above
    I'm above
    Over you I'm standing above
    Claiming unconditional love

Born & raised in SeaTown, I was fortunate to see everyone from
Mother Love Bone, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Mud Honey,
SuperSuckers, Melvins, Screaming Trees, Candlebox, Temple of the Dog,
Alice in Chains in the late 80's thru mid 90's and this show, Mad
Seasons, standing just left of center balcony level. watching many
different band members from different bands descend down into their own
abyss and prisons, weakening physically, emotionally, and vocally, but
this was a very special night and show whereas a mutual appreciation
between band and audience grew as the night progressed, and you could
see a light on in Layne that i hadn't seen in some earlier AIC shows. It
was truly a magically time to be alive, and to witness one of Rock's
all time greats taken too soon from us. Enjoy and if you are suffering
and dealing with addiction or mental health, talk to someone, be
proactive and know there is hope and a better way to live!

Amazing you were there and experienced that wonderful era. Unfortunately I was born in '93. I don't really feel connected to these times in almost every way. Through music like this I try to live those days a bit in my own way. I wish I had lived those days as a mid-20'er. Layne intrigues me so much. Also Chris Cornell, Andy wood and Eddie Vedder to name a few, but none like Layne. I truly wish I could've met him. Those were the days in my opinion, small smoke filled venues, no telephones, far more pure and connected. Also Candlebox rules by the way, Really awesome you've seen so many of them. The downfall of many of them as you said, is a part of what intrigues me as well. It has something pure, real an mystique about it. Those guys were the real deal and felt life in a heavy, real way.
Once again, awesome to hear your story! cheers!

    • @dgranite50
      @dgranite50 Před 4 lety +6

@@ryano460 thanks for commenting , just go out and see as much as you can in the present because these might be those kind of days for you in the future. None of us knew to what level things would elevate to for these once small Seattle bar bands.
There's currently a huge opioid epidemic along with other drugs but even back in the late 80s and into the 90s heroin was very prevalent in Seattle so combine the instant rockstar persona, big bank accounts and endless drugs/alcohol it was a recipe for disaster. Being a small, big city it wasn't strange to kick it and get high with some of these guys. back in the day including Layne.

He’s at the top of the list for me. His Hendrix inspired riffs and sound is amazing. What I was getting at is because he is in an early 90’s grunge band he is often overlooked for his technicality and what not. I love his style and just wish it was more appreciated. Everybody wanks on about Nirvana. Pearl jam shits all over nirvana and so does Alice In Chains.

Part of the reason he was happier was because it was short lived. It was a novel experience singing with other people and finding success performing live and releasing an album while Alice claimed they couldn’t tour cause of his addiction. It was partly done out of spite I think.

Yeah, its probably a lot more fun when you're just creating and doing what you love with your friends. Esp when there's no pressure from the executives and fanbase like there is with a huge successful band like Alice In Chains. I'm sure Layne had the same feeling with AIC before they got big.. creating with your bandmates.. dirt poor but doing it because you genuinely love to create music. Crazy how when bands do get successful, that's what inevitably drives the life out of the band and destroys the band. Success, pressure, money, and drug abuse.
