Hopefully when you welded your 4 link brackets, it didn't make the rear end out of square, Usually you weld those with the narrowing jig on it so the heat doesn't move it. Good luck. Looks great.
Yes, After you finish all of your welding on your rearend housing. You should ask the person who narrowed the rearend for you to run his rearend jig in through it to make sure it didnt tweak the housing. I know of a person who's narrowed rearend housing needed to replace one of the axle bearings after every two race weekends after someone had done some extensive welding on the housing. The alignment was so off on one axle bearing end he needed a deadblow hammer to beat the axle each time he removed and installed the one axle. When chassis builders build a rearend housing the bearing ends are the last things welded on the housing with a rearend jig.
Just sayin' for others info, you should have really welded for about 1" or so, then stopped and let it cool down. Then weld the opposite/opposed side to help counter any warpage that might have occurred. Welding for extended periods as you did on this rear end can cause bad warpage to happen. Hopefully everything is OK. Rear ends are very touching when it comes to warping from welding.
Great video. I'm build a 1st gen s10 and was researching back halfing it.
I hope you realize the back half is supposed to go inside the stock frame rails you've got it setting way too low ... you should also box in the frame up underneath the cab .... Also you'll want to loosen the cab when you go to mount the roll cage so you can raise the cab and be able to weld completely around the roll bars you want the roll bars to be almost touching the roof for maximum head clearance ....
Why didn’t you set the main hoop all the way to the back of the cab? And it also looks like your about my size and the front pillar bars could be a lot farther forward so they are not in your way getting in the out. Actually you’re probably not going to fit in it comfortably. Wish I would’ve see this earlier I would have sent you some pics of mine. Mine it tight to the back of the cab and up to the top of the roof. Front bar are barely seen with the doors open. I love it your building it yourself though and I hope you can still fit in it when your done! Good luck
I really feel like your heart is in the right place lil bro..you could have used some guidence on the back half..but hey kuddos for digging in and doing it..
Love the work man
