It was obviously my mistake as I forgot to engage handbrake or put the vehicle in gear before getting out to check the traffic in the queue. But the reaction from the local taxi driver was so strong that it turned into a fight even when I was ready to pay him for his damages. Some local truck drivers and fellow travellers understood the situation and mediated to get it sorted on the spot.

You are such an experienced driver and small mistake like not putting hand breaks (due to habit of automatic) can create such a scene. Shows roads are truly unforgiving when they decide. More than money it's also the mental stress due to whole situation.

The maximum liability to pay under such situations is only Rs. 2000/- nothing more. The impacted vehicle owner cannot claim to you to repair the damage.
Your stating this as if it's a fact. Where did you get this maximum liability from?
Bro his number plate is yellow, meaning he is taxi driver, he can't pay the liability from his pocket, the denter can charge him thousands more. Also you can see his is ladakhi, he is as outsider as you are in Kashmir. You are alone u just managed gather people and not pay him his dues despite your fault.
@@zahirladakh His number plate is yellow means he is using it for taxi as informed by you so he is using it to earn money and when you earn money from business there are certain loses that you may occur and you need to be prepared for that. Such people put a very negative impact on the tourists that come there. And tourism is the only source of income in that area. Do this more and see the effects after 10 years.

He also said sorry but the taxi driver was adamant on taking ID to loot Dinesh. The taxi dickey was already damaged a little before the accident.

That car in which you have rammed( unintentionally) is his bread and butter and I don’t think it is wrong to ask for ID so that he can fix it from a proper service centre which would have costed him more than 3k for sure. Ladakhi people has always welcomed tourists with open heart but the response has been opposite in most of the cases.

Bro if you check your footage carefully the Xylo taxi before you already had a dent and when you stopped right behind it the driver came out watching you in suspicion. I think he had planned well before to create a scene with anyone to recover the cost of his already dented car. Your mistake of touching his car gave him a excuse to create that scene with you. Anyways you handled the situation well.
So let me be clear and correct me if I'm wrong so, basically what you're saying is the taxi driver knew that he would not put the hand brakes on and the car would slide and hit his car(THE TAXI) 🤣
