I have read so many negative comments on this thread. Most of the people writing them have no idea how sustainable forestry works . Take out the old big trees to use as a sustainable organic resource to give space for the younger trees to grow for the next 50 or 100 years. They will absorb carbon dioxide in that time to prevent the myth of global warming. This is not analogous with the destruction of the Amazon to grow soya for the vegans to eat, nor for the production of palm oil in Indonesia. The timber from that single tree will produce furniture for your house, your floor boards, doors and more. The pieces not acceptable for the sawmill will be chipped to make the cardboard boxes for the cheap shit you buy from Amazon produced by slave labour in the Third World. Some of it may well be processed into the paper you wipe your fat sanctimonious arse with after you have witnessed the end of a great example of a renewable resource. Trees are very important. Personally I have felled thousands of them. All were used for construction, paper products, green fuel and more. On the other hand I have planted even more young saplings of which I shall never see the benefits of because I shall be dead by then. It is the legacy that those yet unborn shall inherit and I hope they shall continue the heritage of the unknown men and women who planted the trees I have felled. It was interesting to see the man who felled this particular tree prayed to it first, looking at his technique , poor saw work and unnecessary use of wedges he probably needed Divine intervention. Do yourself a favour for the world,go and plant a tree for us all. Even better try planting hundreds every day like I used to be able to do. And then if you like you can criticise well managed sustainable green renewable resources. Until then dry your crocodile tears with a Kleenex made from a tree.

All trees die. Having said that, they have a new life if they are incorporated and used in every day life, where their strength and beauty are appreciated, and at least in Japan, possibly revered. I think it a beautiful thing to give it new life.

It may not do things to the individual for some days, but it is the same meet ye shall have, since they exists to serve its purpose, before the tree cutter was born. It is painful, it is also not recommendable, the costs of flood and numerous casualties in the waters, at land and at the mountains, are to be attributed to cutting them and their place of residence.

I don’t have an issue with this tree being felled because it is obvious that the trees here are being managed properly. The forest is not being clearcut or chosen at random. They are cut for a specific project in mind as to just cutting for the sake of the wood 🙏

Wood is a beautiful and natural resource that if treated correctly is renewable. This man showed massive respect to this tree, blessing it before he cuts it down as he understands the importance of the tree and its purpose in life. This tree may have been felled in order to produce some significant cultural or spiritual item using traditional methods. In doing so, that is, in making things out of wood that are of good quality and last a life time we preserve the the carbon store, a means of locking up CO2 from the atmosphere. In nature when trees die and rot down, they release their stored carbon. with the addition emissions from humans, this leads to greatly increased CO2 lvs in the atmosphere resulting in CC. Managing forests like this need to be seen as an economically viable productive means of producing resources that are required by everyday people in a way that is continuous into the future with little to no impact on the surrounding natural environment, its fauna and flora including the air, water and soil. That is why you would cut down a 210 yr old tree.

It doesn't do much good to honor the tree and the forest if you don't have the foresight and skill to keep from ruining the resource you are trying to harvest. Not only did he kill an old master of the forest but he damaged such an amount of the tree that he was already reducing it's potential use on the shrine that needs the timber.

Japanese are the reason so many African and South American forests are decimated. Japanese cut valuable trees down and use it for plywood as they do not like the pattern normal trees leave on cement. No one is more wasteful except the Chinese who are the main reason for global warming, wild animals going exticnct.

Trees are like people thay have a life span and once they reach their limit they start to deterioate. It is better to harvest said tree rather than letting it take up space from newer trees that need all the sun and nutrients the older tree is using. Trees are a renewable resource.

      Reflecting your thought process:
The authorities (parasite bankers and politicians) look at you like this:
When you are born: you are a population increase. While you're in school: the workforce of the future. Your family: consumption unit. Your lifestyle: ecological footprint.
If you also have a garden, you are a polluter. You are a human resource of working age and a taxpayer.
In retirement, you are a burden on the budget.
In official documents written in Bikkfa, you are a resident and a citizen. They haven't taken HUMANS into account for centuries.

Because the top of the tree it HARD, it broke the tree top 1/3 of the tree off. This is a huge loss of timber.
When the tree falls correctly , the bottom slips off the stump, and the tree lays down. In this example the top of the tree top crashed hard causing tree to shatter.
