I've always been very fond of the Tatra's designs, so quirky but flowing, its some that a 2CV would want to grow up to become :D That engine sounds so sweet and didn't know the V-8s were only 3ltr. engines (?), hm, could you/would you turbo that? I've watched a bunch of videos of these amazing cars over the years and am still blown away by them. This one is a beauty and would love to see an update on it! This is a postwar variant of T87, headlights integrated in the body with "new" light T603 OHV aircooled V8 engine. Although modestly tuned to lower power setting than was used in succesor, the T603, still capable to do 160 km/h thanks to a relatively low weight and very good aerodynamics. From 2545 cm3 produce 75HP, which was at the end of 40' still not bad but also not something special. Very good was fuel consumption, in comparison with similar size and speed capable cars. They often needed at least 100 to 150 HP for the same performance. Original OHC V8 from prewar T87 has the same power but from old 2968 cm3 90° aircooled V8. Both engines are interesting, old one is OHC (from 30'!!!) and has 2 huge cooling fans in ducts under engine. Newer one (with older OHV pushrod steering) use also 2 smaller fans at the end of engine but with underpressure (suction) working principle, they have worser efficiency than those fans with positive pressure, but temperature control is more easily done with flap.

Oh my God, poor transmission. The intermediate throttle can downshift, but upshifting requires two clutch presses, like 2, clutch, neutral, clutch, 3. I guess nobody told him, it was ear-splitting. :-)
das ist der echte und wahre Vorläufer vom Porsche 911 und auch vom VW Käfer bzw. sind alle 3 Autos unmittelbar miteinander verbandelt. Kann mir aber mal bitte jemand erklären, warum der Tatra87 bis zum Diplomat zwei Tachos hatte. O.k. in dem Video hier sind sie ja gerade ausgebaut. War das nur so ein Gimmick von Tatra, damit der Beifahrer auch mit gucken konnte...oder was war dahinter der Sinn? 😉 PS: nach genauen hinsehen erkenne ich aber, dass das hier aber kein direkter Tatra87 Baujahr 1939 mehr ist, sondern schon ein sozialistischer Tatra Diplomat von 1948 mit eingelassenen Scheinwerfern und quasi neuer Front und neuer Kofferraumklappe !! Da gefiel mir die alte Variante aber x mal besser 🙄
@@xl83 Danke für die schnelle Antwort😊 ...aber das Berliner Oldtimer Zentrum hat erst vor ein paar Tagen einen Scheunenfund Bj. 39 aus der USA gekauft, wo tatsächlich noch original 2 Tachos verbaut waren. Des Rätsels Lösung ist aber schon gefunden, warum das so mal kurzfristig so war. Das hing damals mit der links / rechts Umstellung im Straßenverkehr, nach der Okkupation durch die Wehrmacht zusammen....und so ist das Oldtimer Zentrum zufällig an so einen Wagen aus dieser Zeit gekommen....und ich dachte gestern noch irrtümlicherweise, dass auch der Diplomat noch 2 Tachos hatte.

Ein Tatra 600 ist es aber auch nicht, weil der hier ja noch 3 Frontscheinwerfer hat. Deshalb kann es nur einer der ersten Tatra Diplomat sein :)

@@3d-marabu Ist halt 50er Jahre Design. Das alte Design im Stil des Art Deco wäre für die 50er outdated. Der Tatra 600 hat ja eine ähnliche Front.

@@3d-marabu Es ist gut möglich dass das Fahrzeug einen Unfall vor langer Zeit hatte und man das dann so umbaute.
