That is nice but we can’t forget that a coffee table serves also the purpose of putting drinks and sometimes people tend to put to much decor on it
. .Yes, I agree. I think there's a Balance, ... some Decor, but enough open space to have room to set down a Beverage, perhaps a dessert plate , for more than ONE person.
I'm older, so. this hardens back to the time when people entertained and had people over....And you had coffee and dessert in the Lounge..( living room)..And you placed a beautiful tray of beverages and dessert on your coffee table. 😊

For some, it's a practical spot for placing drinks, snacks, or books within easy reach while lounging. Its purpose evolves based on how you envision and use your living space!
A coffee table is self explanatory. It’s a place for the home owner and guests to place their coffee or other drink/ food down when sitting for conversation or maybe watching TV . It also helps anchor the sofa and chairs. A room looks incomplete without it. Just my opinion.
@davidbarnes Yes, coffee tables should be self explanatory. My reason in asking is that I see all the curated table tops & they look as though they are only to be looked upon BUT hands off, DO NOT TOUCH.
