    I know you've said this before, but it is really great to hear that not all the best sounding flutists play on solid yellow gold, white gold, and platinum flutes. Even silver isn't the best if it isn't "sterling" .
    Sorry for the frequent comments. I'm just excited for you finding your flute voice. You inspire me to find my own.

    Copper is STUNNING just as a metal -- I feel the same way as you. It's more beautiful than gold, hands down. If only it didn't tarnish! And it's lovely that you feel better on that metal. :-)

      If the copper flute tarnish, how can we avoid tarnishing it or recover from a tarnish status. I am asking because i am planning to buy it.

    • @joejoejoe532
      @joejoejoe532 Před 3 měsíci

      @@meld5542 Rose gold does not tarnish as the copper is part of an alloy and is not pure copper in itself.
      The copper used in Trevor James's copper alloy flute (the only reputable copper flute I know of that isn't a gold alloy) is about 85% copper with other components, with similar composition to brass but with more copper proportionally. In those case, they use a lacquer coating similar to that used on brass instruments to avoid tarnish.

    Hey Joanna! Always enjoyed your content. Have you looked into Yamaha Alto flutes (it's copper alloy as well). And additionally, there is a limited edition C flute from Yamaha that's made from the same copper alloy of the alto released years ago, model no: YFL-411SLGB. Thought you might be interested to look into it.

    I've been pondering the difference in resonance of various metals and wood for flutes. I noticed in a comparison between silver, gold and wood, the gold appeared to step back toward wood in sound quality. Researching it, Boehm chose silver as the best metal. That said, another source claims there is little difference in tone when various metals are compared, but some players may be biased toward gold causing them to think it is the best metal. I wish I could try them all!

    • @JustAnotherFlutist
