    Heres the build video for my Brewster Buffalo kit. Fairly basic model and I didnt use any photo etch or resin parts on this kit. Tamiya paint colors are noted in the video along with my first time using Vallejo model air colors (worked well although longer drying time than Tamiya paint)

    The most fun i had with models as a kid was setting them on fire for crash landings then dripping the burning plastic on fire ant hills to simulate napalm attacks on the VC.

    Awesome work! Does anyone know why the British paint the bottom of the planes half black? I see them doing the same with their Spitfires.

      Exactly, a corsair engine would have made the bearcats style performance , but, given brewsters quality, itd probably have torn itself apart.....

    • @ScaleModelAssassin
      @ScaleModelAssassin  Před 6 lety

      Thanks, the kit came with a sheet for the masks. It was similar to the Eduard masking sheets except it wasn't pre-cut. It's got all the sections marked but you have to cut them out with a hobby knife.

      Scale Model Assassin i recently masked my tamiya ki 61 1d. From what i know only automotive tamiya models have pre cut masks

    • @ScaleModelAssassin
      @ScaleModelAssassin  Před 6 lety

      I wonder why they only do automotive pre cuts. I would be happy to pay an extra dollar if they would cut the aircraft masks for me.

      Scale Model Assassin eeh it didn't bother me, but I found that Eduard's Express masks have better adhesion. And hey, the shipping is also not a problem for me as I live in Poland and basically have 20 km to the Czech border

    Hey, I know you may not reply, because this is an old video. But I had a question about this build: did you have a problem attaching the landing gear legs after assembling the wings and the fuselage together, because in the instructions it recommends putting the legs together before attaching the wings, but that's a pain in the ass for painting. Thanks in advance.

    • @ScaleModelAssassin
      @ScaleModelAssassin  Před 2 lety +1

      Not that I can recall and if there had been a big problem, it would have stuck out in my mind. Im almost always able to save the landing gear until last without any issues, even when the instructions say otherwise.

    • @ScaleModelAssassin
      @ScaleModelAssassin  Před 4 lety

      I dont think I forgot to unmask it. I think I forgot to mask it in the first place . Im guessing I decided to skip it but I cant remember why. Back then I probably looked at it and the Tamiya DIY cut-it-yourself masks and said eff-this lol. Good catch, Id completely forgotten about that glass.

      For a 339E it is supposed to be painted over like that. The instructions tell you to do it, so Tamiya got it right. But you didn't add the window decal on the left front canopy pane on the sliding section. This replicates the little oval window the British added. It was good that Tamiya added that decal. But Tamiya did not include nor tell you to drill out the second landing light that the 339E had, and the pitot tube should be the barbed/shark fin-style. As is, the kit is incomplete if you want to make this version.

      Whats funny is the Finns actually liked this plane. It did well against the early Soviet equipment I guess. Could be the colder weather up north was more to its liking.
