    Hi, I just installed my new Clubsport shifter onto the Playseat Challenge following your instructions. It is perfect, super solid and good position. Thank you so much for the idea and for the video! Ciao from Italy.

    Thanks for uploading this video! This solution for the shifter mount really makes the PlaySeat worth it. I initially only used the GoPro mounts but I found that when I used the higher gears (particularly pushing down for 7th) the shifter would move. I ended up getting the RAM bolt too and now the shifter does not move anymore. I didn't use the 3D printed spacers and instead cut two small pieces of MDF with a thickness of 12mm to fill in the space between the shifter and GoPro mounts. Does not look nearly as clean as your solution but it does the job.

    Thank you so Much! Very simple and super effective. I was surprised about how much support was from the cheap gopro mounts alone. Ended up going with the RAM-B-149ZU ram mount, but now I wonder if it was even needed. Either way I highly recommend this setup!

    Hello. Great video and an impressive solution for a shifter. I found the mentioned ram mounts on AliExpress for just 14.68$ total including shipping + GoPro mounts for only 4,23$. Haven't bought them yet because I have a few questions for you please.
    1. The "RAM Rail Base with B Size 1" Ball" seem to come with U shaped bolt only. Which size and length of the bolts have you used to mount them to T-nuts on CSL DD? I assume I have to buy them separately right?
    2. The "RAM 1" Ball Medium Length Double Socket Arm with Diamond Base" I found on AliExpress are made of plastic and metal. Plastic ones are much cheaper but do you think they will hold everything well enough or should I go after significantly more expensive metallic ones? Also is the so called "Medium length" equals to 9,5cm?
    Really loved your video and thank you for sharing it with us. I've seen 2 other shifter mounts but yours looks just flawless. Amazing job!

    • @dabinn
      @dabinn  Před rokem +1

      I am glad the video helps.
      1. I didn't remember what size of the bolt I used, but according to the drilling template which Fanatec provided, I't should be M6 bolt and about 10mm+ of length.
      2. I suggest using metal socket arm, China replicated balls are less grip than the original RAM mount, you may need to apply more force on it.
      here is the drilling template of CSL DD:

    Do you think it's possible to amount the fanatec handbrake on the outside of the shifter? would that still be stable enough? Thank you so much for this! so far the most efficient solution I have ever seen!

    • @dabinn
      @dabinn  Před 3 lety +1

      It should be very stable, but I am not sure if it still be compact in folding position due to it's large size. (I didn't use fanatec handbrake)

      @@dabinn Regarding the Wheel Base: How do you find the stability with the PlaySeat Challenge? I am considering upgrading from a G29.
      I also added 8 tactile transducers to my PlaySeat Challenge. Each corner of my chair has 2 transducers working with Simhub software. For the back I mounted them to wood, and used some motor cycle mirror clamps to attach. For the pedals I mounted them under the pedals with wood and screws. TOTALLY worth doing.

    • @dabinn
      @dabinn  Před 4 lety

      @@rtimmins7212Is your rig still foldable after added tactile transducers?
      I feel the wheelbase arm of Playseat challenge is not steady enough. I am not sure if it was improved or not in later releases (I bought it very early). I have used it with weaker T300 and stronger CSL elite, both are fine, but not very good. So I consider not to upgrade my wheelbase again unless I have room to place a stronger rig. :D

      It's less than 19$ for GoPro and RAM mounts on AliExpress. And there is not that much DIY to be done. You can even ask your friend or neighbor to help you out. I think it's well worth it for such a sturdy and well placed shifter mount. The official metallic plank is just worthless garbage in my opinion. And 3D printed brackets for 30$+ is a wobbly piece of ... plastic.
