Actually according to Ollivander "only two wands with the same core, same length were Ever created" Voldy stated "they are in fact, twins. We can wound each other, slightly maim but not kill the other " Harry's wand *in the scene vs Voldy while Hagrid was knocked out on his motorbike while carrying Harry in the passage seat* senses it's master was in danger, than automatically used the spell to repel voldy's spell.. yes wands are sentient as stated by Ollivander "depending on its core has a binding magical contract with each of it's respective owner's." ..
Severus Snape(Snivelily) as the marauders called him loved Lily even more than a friend(yet she didn't see him that way) he even was Lily Evans first real friend at Hogwarts. Petunia Evans was jealous cause she wanted to attend Hogwarts however "the Book of Admissions and the Quil of Acceptance" didn't find any magical properties for her to attend the school..
This made Petunia bitter for years, and she legit wanted to go😢..
Saying her parents were proud when Lily received her letters," wonderful isn't it,to have a witch in the family." .but she thought she was strange(like Harry) just so abnormal..a freak she always chanted or spat her sister(Lily never rubbed it in her face and tried to be more accepting of her)
Snape, was a guy who loved Shakespearen books and poetry.. that's why in the hidden or alternate scene he tried to apologize to Harry using poetry using the phrase "Murkswood,Aphedale,Wolfsbane,.." meaning "I'm sorry for the death of your mother." And Harry never, til this day understand what it meant..
You can find the scene in comment section on CZcams..
Voldy however, you wonder why he wasn't seen as much(first off,he was blown apart by the counter curse Lily Evans put on Harry.." to protect him after evil for over 18 years (powerful nasty protection spell) see what happened to Professor Quirl.. he couldn't touch Harry..
Voldy stated " it was an act of love" see when dear sweat Lily Potter gave her life for her only son,she provided the Ultimate protection.. I couldn't touch him...!" Something I should've forseen but didn't..
Now he can cause of some weird spell(wizard brew) him and Wormtail used to create Voldy a new "body" (goblet of fire) "blood of my blood" btws both Harry and Voldy are descendants of the original 3 brothers who had the deathly hallows(both of them are half bloods, similar to professor Snape) who is the half blood prince ..

I just loved that too! :) I found they were REALLY underutilized in the movies, they were a great at that stuff in the books, they should have had more stuff in the movies. In 5 being a thorn in Umbridge's side until they blew out of there spectacularly... And they shouldn't have skipped Peeves The Poltergeist, it was so great when the twins' parting shot was to instruct him to give her hell, the first instruction he ever followed, LOL!

I liked Hedwig's death more in the movie. The filmmakers realized that Hedwig dying trapped in a cage and being a helpless meat shield for Harry was a pretty cruel way to go. Harry instead setting her free only to have her choose to defend him was solid.

For me, I found Fred’s death to hit the hardest. He and George had this whole plan to run a joke shop, and to have that ruined because of his death, I can’t even imagine how George felt. He lost his twin. His best friend. They were practically inseparable throughout the entire series. Plus the fact that we basically grow up with them as characters. I heard that after the battle of hogwarts, George went on to running the joke shop by himself (and Ron would sometimes come in to help). Also that he named his child Fred after his twin. Likely one of the most heartbreaking deaths beside Snapes.

But Fred dying was just inexcusable. Everytime I re read the books, I cry at his death because of the reasons you mentioned. They were so integral in the books.

Those are real things people go through irl, so we sympathize. But a "love potion" is a fictional thing in a fictional world doesn't have an alegory, so i don't have any sympathy for his character, i mean can we really say that "oh i wish he knew what love, friendship, sacrifice are?" Cz he would never know that, cz they are alien to him, only he wants ultimate power and fears death immensly. Oh god, i just love his arc as a villain. Journey Teale Před 4 měsíci +18

    • StarCrysisOC
      StarCrysisOC Před 4 měsíci +9

@Journey TealeI immediately thought that as I was watching the video. Enslaving them was the only way to contain their true power or something

    • Vixx Celacea
Vixx Celacea Před 4 měsíci +10

I'm extra sure that's exactly why house elf culture is trained to want to be subjugated or not really think much of it provided they are treated relatively well. There are real world parallels in cases of slavery/servitude in which someone adjusts and becomes close with the family/master and doesn't want to leave even if they are freed. It's actually apart of training when dealing with real life cases of slavery today as a form of stockholm syndrom. It's a well known problem.
If I remember in the books correctly, Hermione was frustrated that the house elves of Hogwarts didn't seem that interested in being freed, or at least some of them weren't because they were treated nice enough.
I think lots of older wizards and witches knew very well how powerful house elves were, but developed them into being subservient and bound to their masters. They are absolutely OP in their connection to magic and use of it.

Someone's probably already said this, but the reason Bill and Fleur got married then was actually to give a little light to people before the storm and because it was then or potentially never. The books even discuss how Arthur and Molly got married in a similarly quick fashion during the last war with Voldemort because they didn't know how long they were going to live fighting in the Order against the Death Eaters. Similarly, LOTS of people were getting hitched during the WW eras before they got deployed for the same reasons.

@Dilberthigh They shouldn't have to be ashamed that they're getting married at a time when things are darker. And they didn't even have a big wedding, they just have a lot of family and friends. And the Burrow was considered safe until the Minister of Magic was murdered that night. There's no reason why they shouldn't have been allowed to celebrate and enjoy life when they can carve out a bit of joy.

    • Dilberthigh
      Dilberthigh Před 3 měsíci

As for the Locket thing: Regulus, Serius' brother, was a follower of Voldemort until he wasn't anymore. I don't think Regulus knew that there were 7 Horocruxes. He just thought there was the one and he was so smart for figuring it out. He wanted Lord Voldemort to know he was the one who bested him. He used Kreature to get it and that is how the locket got into Grimmauld Place where Mundungus was able to find it and then sell it to Umbridge. Others have mentioned it as well: the reason Ron was so grumpy was because he was wearing the locket! It makes you depressed and magnifies your insecurities...

    • Owen Perrin
Owen Perrin Před 4 měsíci +18

And the only reason Umbridge even got the locket was because Kreacher lacked the capacity to destroy a horcrux, due to those being nearly indestructible

    • CharTypePlays
      CharTypePlays Před 4 měsíci +30

Yeah, if everything had gone according to Regulus's plan, Voldemort would have died when he tried to kill Harry. No one else had ever made more than one Horcrux. He ordered Kreacher to destroy the locket, thinking that would make Voldemort mortal. His plan failed because a) the Horcrux was enchanted to be indestructible and b) Voldemort had other Horcruxes.

As for the "secretive" will of Dumbledore. He knew the ministry would comb through every single word of it and had to encode the instructions in order to keep their "find-and-destroy-the-horocrux"-plan hidden from Voldemort. He only put the sword into his will to hint at that they will need to find the sword in order to kill a horocrux. He never actually meant to just give it to Harry. Especially because the sword had to be earned rather than be given.

    1. The broom thing was explained in the book. Everyone knows Harry's good with flying on a broom so they figured putting him on one would be too predictable and he would become an obvious target since Voldemort would expect the real Harry to be on a broom
    2. The sword wasn't missing since the first movie, it was in Dumbledore's office for years. When he left it to Harry, I think the ministry took it for examination? But it was still in Hogwarts, now in Snape's office, till some kids tried to steal it and so he hid it away but actually he hid away a fake one and left the real one for Harry to find (correct me if I'm wrong I don't exactly remember how it got swapped)
    3. RAB didn't leave the fake locket hoping to trick Voldemort! In fact he left a note in it essentially saying "this is fake, I have the real one and I'll destroy it asap" as a way to show the finger to Voldemort and saying "hah! I figured out your secret!" But of course he never succeeded and was eventually killed.
Sorry for being *that* HP nerd 😅😂

It's been a bit since I read the book, but if I remember correctly, Dumbledore instructed Snape to switch out the swords on Dumbledore's death and hide it away until it was needed (they discussed it when they made the plan for Snape to kill Dumbledore in order to break the ownership lineage of the wand.) The fake was sent to Bellatrix's vault. When the kids were brought to the mansion with it in tow and Bellatrix tortured Hermione, one of the things she asked repeatedly was how they stole the sword from her vault.

The fact that the series starts off light-hearted and progressively gets darker, more complex and more grown-up was a huge factor behind its sucess. Where most series would stay stagnant and wait for the next batch of kids to be old enough to read it, this one chose to grow with its audience, and in so doing, retained them all the way to the end. Same with the films.
Also, the 'guy we've never seen before' is Mundungus Fletcher. He is a counterfeit dealer and gets mentioned several times in the books (he keeps getting referenced all throughout the series, starting from the first or second book, IIRC, when Mr. Weasley says the Ministry had to fine him, or something along those lines). This is where the movies' cuts affect the experience - in the little details.
Still, the DH movies are a massive improvement over that limp disappointment of a final book, and rank among the best in the series for me - especially Part 2, which realises the Battle of Hogwarts quite spectacularly.

The movies look good, but literally every critique he had of the story not making sense was answered in the books. Why wasn't Harry on a broom? Because he's the best flyer. That's what Voldy would expect. Why is Ron moody? Because he wore the locket more than anyone and was getting manipulated by Voldy's soul bits. They just left so much storytelling out of the movies that it's just like, "And this happens now."

  • Helen ♡
    Helen ♡ Před 4 měsíci +501

The reason Harry travels with Hagrid is that he is, as you said, the least experienced, which means its least expected that the real Harry Potter would go with Hagrid. Also in the first movie Hagrid brings Harry in the same motorcycle to the dursleys to keep him protected and he is doing it again one last time, as if to complete the circle. How well thought out!

    • ayameisastar
      ayameisastar Před 4 měsíci +40

Also Hagrid is half giant. Giants have natural resistance to spells and curses (I can’t remember exactly but their skin is thick or something?) Unlike the others Hargrid can take a few hits before he’s out so even if he can’t use magic he has a fast motorcycle and a natural shield and that’s all Harry needs to get to the Weasley house (until Voldemort attacks of course)

I still think Hedwig's death is the saddest in any of the films 🦉

I remember being really pissed at Hedwigs death being glanced over so much. It's a really big thing in the book, she was loyal and deserved more than a "oh, guess that happened . . . anyway"

Yes in the movie Hedwig got killed trying to protect Harry and was the reason Voldemort knew which Harry was the real Harry. In the books she was killed right as they took off and Harry wasn’t identified by the death eaters until much later when he used Expelliarmus which is like his signature spell.
There’s a theory that it was Snape who killed Hedwig in order to keep Harry from being identified as the true Harry, to protect him. It makes a lot of sense and is just yet another reason to both love and hate Snape because he killed Hedwig but he also might’ve saved Harry in the process.

Yeah, no. No sane person loves Snape. He treated kids like shit. I have no issues with him loving Lily, unlike some people, as I know all too well you can't help who you love and that not everyone has multiple "loves." But how he treated Neville and others was not okay. And he wasn't always a double agent, so the fact that he chose to be a Death Eater speaks of who he is.

In the book, all the decoy Harrys were given stuffed owls in cages to further sell the ruse. There was no actual need to kill Hedwig. If that is something that Snape did then it just makes him an even worse person.

@English at Heart Yeah. Snape may be one of my favorite character in these books, but he is a bad person. He treats kids like trash and probably killed any love for potion for some of them. The only reason he betrayed Voldemort is because he wants to avenge Lily, not because he realized that Voldemort's ideas are evil. So his work as a double agent may have been admirable, but he is still a bad person that did a good thing, not a good person. I'm still not over the fact that Harry named one of his kid after him.

@Desmond Gentle You think people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between a live bird and a stuffed one if they came close enough? When Hedwig was killed her cage fell out of the motorcycle and Harry barely managed to catch it. Surely this caused a living bird to move around and maybe even screech a little. And it was a battle so bumping around out of place was just bound to happen a lot more. These are definitely things the death eaters would have been looking for to determine the real Harry. Was it absolutely necessary? No, maybe not. But it _definitely_ seems like an extreme Snape would’ve been more than willing to go to to accomplish his mission. The only thing that mattered was getting Harry out of there alive and the owl could’ve been an obstacle so he eliminated it.

I think these movies should've included more Dobby! Dobby's death was heart shattering in the books! In the movie it was sad, he seemed so innocent and unassuming! In the books he was a hero!

The reason that they killed off Hedwig and Dobby was to symbolise the end of childhood innocence, which is a gut punch on so many levels! 👊😭💔

Internally screaming while watching this because Harry wasn't on a broom on purpose (and it worked), the point of the wedding was to have a moment to escape the constant worrying, and RAB switched out the lockets because he planned to destroy the original.

The fact that Harry was an excellent flyer and Hagrid is the weakest at wizardry is exactly why he was put in Hagrid's sidecar for the trip to Grimmauld Place, it was so that the Death Eaters would investigate all the Harrys on brooms first, likely starting with whoever they deemed to most powerful and capable of protecting the real Harry, so they started with Mad-Eye, and a lot of people believe Hedwig was killed by Snape in order to protect the real Harry's identity. And no questions were asked to Nymphadora because they were determining whether anyone was a Death Eater, disguised with Polyjuice Potion, Tonks is a Metamorphmagus, and you can't use spells or potions to turn into a Metamorphmagus. These movies were so good, but had the potential to be some much better if they just included a few more important moments and information and cut the dumb dancing and the majority of the brooding scenes. >.

In the books Hagrid has some spell resistance and way more fighting skill than in the movies. Harry riding with him makes more sense there. If they saw harry riding a broom they would recognize him pretty quick.
