AN armless drag queen is storming Newcastle’s drag scene with her act as a masturbating T-Rex. Sophie Harris has thrombocytopenia absent radius - also known as TAR syndrome - a rare congenital disorder which meant she was born without forearms. The 26-year-old has found confidence and acceptance by performing as a drag artist inspired by the famous - and armless - Greek statue. Sophie saw her first drag show on holiday in Turkey when she was ten-years-old and instantly fell in love with their flamboyance. She initially held back from the scene until she learned more about female bodied and transgender drag queens and decided to create her own drag persona, Venus Dimilo.

I think the bond between the brother and sister is amazing. My sister has TAR syndrome but is only missing her radius. I love seeing the disorder get some spotlight and attention since it is so rare. People need to see more examples of people with TAR just living their lives and seeing how capable they are.
Oh and I LOVE the T-rex thing because we all joke constantly about her being a Trex lol. It was an inside joke that was started by her.

I'm noticing a trend - everytime I watch a video, whether it's following drag queens, CZcams celebrities, people with lots of plastic surgery, people who do cosplay - whatever the niche, the bullying always only occurs ONLINE. Every single video I watch, these people say no one critiques them to their face. It's almost like the internet is loaded with cowards who dehumanize people's choices and project hatred outward into the world. Honestly, the internet has equally made possible a world of difference, and a world of hateful attitudes. Obviously hate existed before, and has always existed, but now it's so easy to target those who are different and attack. It's a real shame.
That said, free speech is important, but education is more so. Life is hard, let's teach people that no one has it easy, and that everyone is just trying to get by without killing themselves (and if lucky, by loving their short time alive).

Hmm. I knew about drag kings but I didn't know there were female drag queens. Interesting how an initially underground community can co-opt and transform the fashion of one half of the mainstream to the point that when it comes full circle that it's solely identified with that subculture so that it's jarring when it's adopted by the people who initiated the inspiration.
I've seen her perform a couple of times and I know her through mutual friends and she is so amazing. If you ever go to a Klub Kids show (or any show in Newcastle) and Sophie/Venus is on the bill you are in for a treat.

No, you can do drag as any gender or body :)
If you look up the definition of drag, it means to cross dress or dress as the opposite sex. So she would have to dress in male/masculine clothing to technically be in drag. So it would make sense to be called a Bio Queen, because it's not drag if you're a woman dressing as a woman. I think in our society today we like to add multiple meaning to words in order to be more fluid, if anything drag is seen more as a type of style than the actual meaning of the word these days. But out of respect for eachother it's not hard to call or refer to people as they wish to be referred to. Lets all learn to be respectful but also understand the technical. If she wants to be called a Drag Queen go ahead and call her one out of mutual respect for another human being, but if you want to argue the technicalities of it than that would be an incorrect term for her.
Lesbians and bi/not straight women often relate to drag because they feel a disconnect from womanhood due to facing homophobia throughout their lives (and the fact that so much of what society tells you makes a woman 'womanly' is centered around what men find attractive means that lesbians often feel doublely disconnected because they feel zero attraction towards men), bioqueens became a thing because women who weren't straight wanted a way to feel empowered by their womanhood again, and expressing yourself in an ultra feminine way in a counterculture setting is a good way to do that
