I did that before with my mk2 fiesta I overtook a bus and rattled the engine as it had lost a lot of oil somewhere and oil light didnt come on, had someone ask me what I've done and that its mental. Since then got a little more power and now it's completely useless at accelerating on a damp day 3rd gear from 30 just slightly accelerating will spin. A lot of fun though.

@@whoisfyp should've elaborated what I did before I guess.... launched after talking to someone about the car. Except I did that after the engine started rattling when overtaking a bus, although I'm kinda surprised it lasted the rest of the week, then swapped the block from a mondeo to st170 which got a little bit more power.

There Were A Few Variants Of The Tomcat There Were ,2.0 N/A & 2.0 Turbo Then The Facelift 220`s Had A Different Engine That Were Variable Valve Timing So Also In 2.0 N/A & 2.0 Turbo . Loved Mine Back In The Day Post Head Gasket ;) it Loved Braking Drive Shafts In Half Although Turning The Boost Up Contributed

It's hard to get 300hp from a k20, not impossible but hard. Best bang for buck NA power is K24 block K20 head. My best friend made 287 from his K24 frank engine. But if you want to keep the k20 then high compression forged pistons (like 12.5:1, stronger rods, stronger valvetrain (supertech is really good), cams (skunk 2, toda, drag cartel etc), around 750cc injectors (I think 1000 is a lot for NA unless it's a drag engine or something), good inlet manifold (skunk 2 ultra street or RRC are good, or ITB's if you can afford them), around 74mm throttle body (if you go too big it's not as responsive and will hurt the power at low rpm), 3 inch exhaust system from manifold to the back and ported head perhaps. But remember it's not all about peak numbers like a lot of people think, it's area under the curve. A peaky engine that only comes on strong towards the end will lose to a car that's stronger across the rest of the band and slightly weaker up top. I know someone with a fully built NA K20 and it's not as quick and my friend's K24 because the K24 has torque which you just can't get from a K20, and the K24 has a stock bottom end, just supertech valvetrain.

Got a 100 myself with a 1.8 Rover K series turbo engine.

Personally prefer the Rover K series. It's almost half the weight of the k20 engine. It suits the car better due to less weight over the front wheels. It's a much easier conversion as well haha.
What a little beast that thing is though.
K20 as a package is only 35kg more than a Rover K 🤷♂️
I used to have a 1.8 K Turbo Metro and choose this any day.
