    What's up hillbillies today. I'm going to showing you how to grow your all superintended. I was in a five-gallon bucket.
    It's an extremely fast process of sitting here and what I'm trying to grow anything and sweet potato that I had, which is in natural light and just starting to sprout one day. That got me on the idea of growing sweet potatoes, sweet potatoes, and potatoes. You can continuously eat. They're a great source of food.
    This is a very easy way to grow up and because they're a five-gallon bucket and you could bring some and glow them through the winter time. So, you got this called the street fit of slip. Every single node and joint will actually produce a sweet potato vine.
    Super simple guys, again in under five minutes, that was all the labor that was required to actually get you and your family, a bountiful harvest of sweet piddle. We'll show you what that looks like when we harvest them here in a few months until that guys like subscribe, check out the other stuff and we'll see you next time.

During winter I put them indoor but the root rice aphids came in too with them or with other plants from outside and keep.sprsying them with all kinds of spray neem oil with soap water solution, but doesn't work. Their population decrease but I still see them around... I tried amonia bleach also 3 % hydrogen peroxide. Their population become lesser and lesser. I hope sooner or.later they are gone. Can't wait for the summer to bring them.out to remove the flying aphids gin the house. They attacked all my plant, kalamansi, snake plants they live inside the soil.., oregano... my sweet potato died too due to rice root aphids..

    You can plant extra sweet potatoes next to the chicken coop. The chickens fertilize the sweet potatoes, and you can feed the greens to the chickens as they grow. Then at the end of the year you harvest the sweet potatoes and the chicken meat.

      The sweet potatoes are great! Being that you're in London and have access to tons of foreign markets, you make be able to find TONS of potatoes that aren't available here. You could grow like 20 different kinds and see what works/tastes best for your climate! FYI, sweet potatoes are tropical only plants, so the first frost WILL kill them. Keep an eye if you're planning on growing through winter.

      Today a friend and I were just discussing using 9 buckets, Planting 3 at a time, after some growth, going to try to grow 3 more after 1 month, then another 3 after than. 1 Month later, the first 3 buckets should have yeilded 15-30 sweet potatos to last a month. Then replant. Not sure if it'll work, but then we'd always have one set of 3 buckets coming into harvest.

If it's possilbe to divert AC unit condensation, or grey water from a sink, those can be used to water raised beds. Most important part is keeping everything moist. if you can spend $20-50 on tubes and pipes, you could probably make something that self waters.

    • @hillbilly-homestead
      @hillbilly-homestead  Před rokem +2

      I am not sure about that specific product as I have no direct experience with it. HOWEVER, I know usually the growing tower kind of systems usually are tough for root vegetables to grow. I know some soil based towers you can get carrots and radishes, but aquaponics/aeroponics style systems often produces really small roots. (which is the parts we want to eat).
      I know there are tons of patio gardeners using these container pots with success. I helped my friend setup his garden as he has limited space. amzn.to/3qTKfNP.
      For watering you can try these globes. Since you're in a desert environment, they get water directly to the roots where it's needed, w/o drying out. Its also easy to see if/when you need to rewater. amzn.to/3LslbqL

    While pretty much anything will serve as a ground-cover to reduce evaporation of water, left-over bags of gardening/potting soil are a very effective and cheap way to accomplish the task and prevent weeds from springing up alongside your crops.
    Personally though, I would avoid placing freshly rooted/repotted plants in direct sunlight, at least for the first few days, especially if laziness is a determining factor in your gardening approach. You won't have to water as much or as regularly, and partial shade is a more natural habitat for most young plants.

      YES!!!!! Grass lawns are actually the most harvested crop in the united states. If you could get your hands on that mulch it'd be a good source of mulch. Some cities also require you to bag it so you could get their starw and compost or mulch it for free. Just beware of chemicals if you don't know the source. (I looked into it alot trying to figure out how to convert grass clippings to alcohol to run in flexfuel engines. Long story short, it's possible, but not economical)

I figure a bamboo trellis between bananas would make for better use of the land. I understand that it is 120 to 140 days to harvest for these and peanuts. I’m concerned with food security also. I can grow the yams better then I can rice and corn

      Absolutely! Sweet potatoes are also largely typhoon resistant. I know its some of the only crops that can be grown on islands consistently. You may be southern enough that you can grow all year round. If you don't get a frost, you cant just keep growing and growing and growing. About 1month before you harvest, i'd cut a section and put it water so it can start forming roots.
