- Myself and Simon take a Mazda Bongo Campervan up to one of the remotest parts of Scotland, have a wander, a few beers, cook some amazing Steaks, play poker to see who sleeps in the roof. Next morning kayak up a Loch and Wild Camp in a fantastic Bay. Cook some freshly Harvested Mussels and Crabs. Have a few wee drams and enjoy the Scenery and wildlife that the Area has to offer. Enjoy the trip, Many Thanks for watching.
Lovely video. Up here in scotland we have so many beautiful and interesting places to visit and wild camp responsibly and i hope you continue to enjoy your adventures. Thanks for posting it.
John Smith thanks for commenting, it’s an area myself and Simon have visited for the past 5yrs just after Easter holidays, always a great trip. I always try and promote leave no trace on all my trips. Thanks for watching I always try to get up Scotland as much as I can beautiful part of the world ATB Steve 😃👍

deputy dog Thank you 😃👍
Excellent Steve. Captured the trip well and in spirit - some stunning views and time-lapse too. Makes me want to go right now! atb Stephen
Stephen Turnock thanks for the great comment, glad I inspired you out to go to Scotland. We have been doing a similar trip at Easter to knoydart for the past few years, truly is unspoilt wilderness in some parts 👍
Awesome vid! Just a question.. How is that Itiwit/Tribord Decathlon kayak holding up? Thinking about getting me one as well. Think it`s sturdy and fast enough? thanks
Thomas Hofmeester thanks for liking the Vid. The Itiwit is a great Kyak for the money, us two and all our gear no problem. I recommend it. 👍😃
Somebody somewhere blew a fantastic smoke-ring. Its shadow crosses half way up the mountain on the right at 14.48.
That's got to be a first!
Great vid too.
Pete Timbrell Well spotted, never noticed that until you pointed it out. Definite first 😃👍

beautyful area
Thanks for watching I yes I agree :)
I know this video was posted a long time ago but is there any chance you could post a gps location of where you started your trip? I am planning a canoe trip with my oldest daughter and this seems pretty good.
Wow Steve, I'd almost forgotten how beautiful Scotland is. As always a magic camping spot. Yes, I'm a paddler as well as a motorcycle rider; I think we are all the same folk really, folks who appreciate the outdoors. Thanks! Btw, your leave no trace ethos doesn't go unnoticed. Subscribed.
Potski's Corner Thanks for taking the time out to watch and Subscribe glad you have enjoyed them. Yes definitely like minded.
I’d love to know where that loch is, being of limited mobility, and having to wild camp & kayak where I can reach by car.
Please?!
It’s called Loch Hourn but don’t tell everybody 🤫
brillant stuff mate atb tom
Thanks much appreciated :)
Drovers inn :) great Mac n cheese
Wonder how long until the Drovers gets the "Kings House" refurbishment? Sorry, only Range Rovers allowed....cnuts
@ 1:10 - my dads uncle was an engineer at Dunkirk, and commando at Normandy. The monument there always moves me.
Anthony Hulse I agree it is a very special monument.
just found your channel and a cracking channel it is atb
Chuffed you found me Roy boy, fantastic comment very much appreciated keep tuned in more to follow :)

What a great vidio been there myself walking across the hills to that well famed village and pub just bought myself a touring canoe so as a friend says to me why carry a heavy rucksack when you can ride inside it anyway a nice bit of entertainment and something to dream about in the future kev
Thanks Kev, yes I’m dreaming about freedom again. 👍
Its Loch Hourn? Fantastic video!
Hi Steve, watched this one a couple of times, intrigued with the mussels...take you have been there a few times and placed the ropes in for the mussels...noticed the orange markers. That’s a ambition of mine being a shell fish lover but finding wild mussels nowadays is very hard as most are harvested ...any hints on where to find them.
Cheers Drew
Drew, if you get off the beaten track away from where most of the people go you should be able to find mussels quire easily. Look under piers, jettys, rocky outcrops and the horrible rocky beaches that are covered with loads of seaweed at low tide, pull it back and you should find all types of shellfish. Don't take mussels from anywhere other than clean flowing water, they are filter feeders and will suck up any toxins in the water.
nice one Steve I enjoy that never been to Scotland beautiful
Phillip Payne get yourself up there, beautiful part of the world.
WOW!!
Looks amazing steve me and the other half love scotland go on kayak camping trips regular and love wild remote places. Where is this as we are planning our next now and both really want to go there
Chris Dawson Hi thanks for watching, hope you’ve liked and subbed 😉👍 yes Scotland is fantastic. Great for Kayaking trips. The area is the Knoydart peninsular. Loch Hourn enjoy you won’t be disappointed 😃👍
Steve, great video, we have a small campervan and try to find the most remote spots possible but within easy access of the water to put in the canoes or the small inflatable boat we use, can you tell me where the place is where you parked the van please, looks an ideal base for us to nip off from👍😀
Ian Jackson sent you a message Ian 👍
@steve butler
love the video. as soon as the van was parked up i recognised the area, i actually live about 50 miles north of the area. also i have worked in that glen and stayed in the big mansion type house across from the jetty. beautiful glen and scenery. just an awesome video dude and brought back memories from the winters i spent there working in the freezing cold. is that the only kayaking adventure through scotland you have done?
Lewis Coles Hi thanks for watching and commenting it is a gorgeous part of Scotland. Me and Simon have visited regularly for past few years. Not last year as I walked the great glen way with others. Kayaked twice in the Loch now that was the only vid I’ve done of it tho. Glad you enjoyed it ATB Steve😃👍
GT vid buddy, which lodge did you stay at? Lovely looking part of Scotland 👍👍🇬🇧
Fraser Connell Thanks for watching, Lodge ?
Sorry,I wrongly thought you'd stayed at a lodge/bunkhouse ,thingy.Btw, which part of Scotland did you stay? It looked really nice buddy.👍
Fraser Connell I have done on other trips, but this one is in the area of Knoydart really remote. Love it
Where’s spot u park van like go there with family cheers
Mate, what's the name of the loch you launched the kayak?
Loch Hourn but don’t tell everybody 🤫
@@stevebutler7156 ha ha, I won't, I have to have steak every time me and Mrs go camping cos of you!!!🤣🤣
@@jameswalton8532 you can’t beat a good Steak 🥩 outdoors med rate of course enjoy 😃👍🥩
A wee dram in bonnie Scotland ,, how many ticks did u have , atb Gaz
Gazoutdoors Canny beat a wee dram... 0 ticks on this one but on a previous trip to similar location I got one in the crease of my knee. Thought it was a jab off some bramble at first. Two days later back home I found it whilst having a shower. Not the most memorable experience they are horrible little critters. So always now try and remember to took my pants in socks when going through long grass 😉👍
the crabs were a bit small were they not?
Stephen Cotterill you’re right, we won’t bother the poor brutes again!
14:45 Wow Stunning Guys
always like a good time lapse those dark clouds reminded me of a hand reaching across the mountain when it finished thanks for that David. :)
Loch Hourne is beautiful eh!
George Lamb it truly is a beautiful part of the world 👍👍
Via loch quoich
Steve. Great views of Scotland... I feel you didn't really enjoy your company. Give the man credit. He seemed a team player to me. Live n Let live. That's the key. Enjoyed the post all the same. Peace ✌
Dodgy bodger ! Me and Si get on really well it’s just our Banter Lol. It was an amazing trip just cocked up on a few things partly my fault glad you enjoyed it 😃👍
Dodgy bodger ! We do have our “moments” but we wouldn’t keep going back for more if we didn’t get on. Glad you enjoyed the vid. 👍🏻

@@stevebutler7156 thanks
Can you park at that slipway with a blue badge?
I’ve no idea Gary I know it says no parking I think. Sorry pal
@@stevebutler7156 Is there space without obstructing other traffic mate? That’s law in Scotland wae blue badge.
@@thewanderingbooler I think you should be ok if it’s a smaller car and you get it pulled in. You are supposed to park in a car park further in and check in at the lodge. The guy who runs it will give you the best advice I’m sure👍
@@stevebutler7156 thanks for your help mate. I wasn’t sure there was anybody at the parking place. I’m sure he’ll be very helpful as I couldn’t walk that distance. Thanks again.
Hey teacher...leave those crabs alone
Dude! You have to tell me where that bothy is in the first few moments. Set infront of that snowy peak.
Amazing video. Thanks for posting it! Even if it was 4 years back! I'm looking forward to getting back out to visit and explore scootland again.
Hi It’s an Old Pub called the Drovers, hundreds of years old and reputedly Haunted. You can stay the night. Awesome place. 👍
Why wouldn't you tell us where you are? As a novice I'd appreciate some advice on where to go
stupossibleify Think about it logically why not ? All the best wild camping spots I have found, it’s more of an adventure that way. Plus if I publicly gave out exacting gps locations it wouldn’t be wild anymore. When I was starting out I watched loads of people and from what I’d viewed I went onto google earth and tried to work out there spots. Bust as said before you can’t beat finding your own little patch. Hope you understand where I’m coming from. Thanks for watching and enjoy your future adventures ATB Steve 😃👍
@@stevebutler7156 thanks for your help
Nice trip I’d be a bit concerned about such a cheap canoe but the modern inflatables are good & very practical....food packs are also good I use them..is it beautiful or desolate I’m a fan of empty spaces but I’m thinking this isn’t as good as desolate Thailand...it looks (I was there in Scotland I’m a Scott) it looks like end of the world Mars etc....empty with views not paradise...
Your knives are both embarrassing there secondary bevels & serrated sections are laughably used to sell rubbish..marketing knows no limits when someone doesn’t know BASICS...the whole trip is quite inspiring I must do this...thanks for your efforts...really appreciate it..
It’s a Kyak not a Canoe and at £250 wasn’t particularly cheap. I’ve been to Thailand and yes it’s paradise in parts and hell in others. If the knife was good for Bear Grylls it was good enough for me at the time. I have invested in another one now tho. Thanks for watching glad we inspired 👍
did you really shove crabs into boiling water alive
Why wont you say where you are?
trueblue Keeps wild places wild my friend thanks for watching 👍
@@stevebutler7156 Sorry - of course - - daft question lol - - thank you -
Great video mate but one suggestion... dispatch the crabs with a knife in the back of the head. Boiling them isn't an instant death, despite what your mate says. I'm a diver and catch stuff like that all the time. Best to dispatch humanely. Great video though mate!
Thanks for the tip, I used to be a chef about 20 yrs ago, and thinking about it another way is to put them in plain cold water first. I wonder what Bear Grylls would do ??? Thanks for watching ATB Steve
Yes it wasn't good to see Crab #1 clinging to the lip of the pan.
Best to dispatch humanely. Its not human.
my other cars a mazda bongo
Great vehicle I was going to buy one..
Mamaมาม่า
how terribly rude to interupt a good knife presentation video by interjecting a plastic bear gryhlls boyscout survival knife into the equasions and ruining your friends highly intellectual presentation!!
i noticed you werent putn yer back into paddling back much either had a killer whale pod been on yer starboard afts im sure youd have suddenly found the required effort!!
its a very beautiful region now marred spoiled by 2 northern nobbers!!
plonked smack bang in the middles of it!!
food started to wane as it progressed through the trip started out fine with 2x sirloin steaks then into a bit of dodgy seafood foraging then onto pot noodles n artificial powders then a dubious cocktail of a breakfast at the end that by both of yer expressions didnt look convincing enough that you were enjoying it as a ideal breakfast!!?
the music choice was superb however and the scudding clouds over those hills was amazing the colors are fantastic whenever the sun comes out in scotland
what time of year was this?
im guessing by steves reluctances to shed the hood off his rab duvet jkt that it must have been a scottish high summer period late sept but more realistically march to april may!?
you made me laugh when you looked at that beinne and said not going up there were not equipped for it!
it only had a light dusting of snow your a northern man wimp!!
steve take him in hand will ya!!
toughen him up a bit drag him behinds the boat immersed in his keks up the loch for a bit introduce him to a bit of wim hof method cold weather conditioning
early morning swim in the loch heavy breathing afters prob coming from that cave!! i reckon thats a secret emtrance to hypoborea those beasts bones didnt look to appetising except to a wild beast i wonder what was using that cave there a wild cat or something?
very beautiful area
great video those bongos are surprisingly well organised inside for a small camper van
theyre idea sized for small trackways single lane passing places you dont really needs a big one!!
grear idea to hire a van bye the way you cannot beat it
in this type of an area keeps you flexible to go anywhere and setup move on if weathers bad stay warm dry comfortable
great video
im surprised yer mate hasnt yet stabbed ya!!
with his knife!!!
yet?
:):):)!!!
david john Huxtable Wow, I congratulate you on your Keyboard warrior skills. Maybe improve your grammar and the use of a full stop. Northern Nobber well that’s a new one 😂😂😂. Obviously a Southerner. Are you from Warmington by the way ?? Yes the food did go downhill because one of us left it in the Van, but hey we managed just. Thanks for watching us, you obviously watched it all. You do realise that’s 32:17 minutes of your life you have devoted to me I’m Steve by the way your are never going to get back. It was filmed at Easter still cold at night. I look forward to viewing some of your work, but be assured whenever I comment on another fellow CZcamsr it’s always positive. Probably because I appreciate the time and effort that goes into making them. ATB Steve
steve butler yes a lot of work time & effort went into that 32mins worth that i shall never ever get back again!!
i dont do chanels i live my life in the moment so do it here n now so therefore not the opportunity to view any or much of my work sadly im afraid i am still stunned that you could call this work!! but hey ho each to their own in my books if you put yself up on a public forum then expect a wide range of varying different commentarys back in returns it goes with the territory if yer thin skinned dont put it up!? yes i am a southerner far south n west so not a true southerner more celtic in origins cornwall n devon me anzums
and my commentary is only as biased as the uncivilised northerners would be towards us southerners!!! here in the sunny south!!
but as im not in uk any longer it really doesnt matter!! :)
packing enough food in to last in these remote areas can be a real headache it takes a bit of adv planning as its no good trying to resupply once there you get ripped off or they havent got what you want etc
unless you reach an overpriced scottish touristy town!
a menu plan and bulk buy before you go top up with fresh produce as you go is best but easy to say diff to do as it takes real effort to stay sustained for longer periods of time in these wilder remoter areas
is quite surprising how much food n drink you can get through in 1day with a healthy appetite?
i noticed the glenmorangie disapeared fairly quick!!
so i guess its more a question of posessing the correct priorities!!!!
:)
id swap that bottle of amber water of life fluids out in a heartbeat for some real carbs protein type of sustenances!!
luckily the kayak can take a shedloads of supplies so should be not many real excuses for leaving anything much by way of food back in the van!!?
it would be a diff story if you phys had to carry it
day to day
best way is to post supplies to yself at predetermined post offices to be picked up send back the old stuff load up with the new!!
if on foot
but way you organised it was pretty good
but its usually pretty costly
for camper hire a car would equally suffice
for amount of time you spend in a camper
anyways
the main thing is that it moves
gets yer stuff from a to b
and you dont get mechanical or other problems
boat or kayak is still best way to move about to gain land accesses in the highlands!
anyway its nice to know ive tikkd off 2 northerners for the day!! as an out n out debnshur born s westerner! pirates me luvr me anzum i be pirate stock!! har har
ooo arr!
pieces of 8 pieces of 8!
thats me parrot!!
bye the way youtube and any social media doesnt generally demand or use any punctuations as it is a temporary form of communication equivalent to electronically created ephemera so it is often overlooked? not engaged in by contributors
nobody was trying to be a keyboard warrior
or a troll
my real name adress and rdv time place can all be readily supplied?
i can see ive possibly upset you in some way
wheras that was not my original intention?
so peace out bro ok?
stop that northern aggressive instincts us devon folks are dead friendly!!
:)
we makes a good crayme tea with scuns n strawberry jam weth et me luvr me anzums!
weme means ume no harm!!
:)
me luvver?

you 2 northern savages!! :)

david john Huxtable Cheers Sheldon.
Flick knives are illegal that knife flicked open fast.
Paul Fitzpatrick
Just for the record it’s not a flick knife but it does have assisted opening.
Cheers
If a flick knife is what we colonials would call a switchblade, then this would not qualify, because the blade swings out instead of shooting straight out of the handle. BTW, great video.
