The demonstration at the beginning is so f**king rad. The combination of a modern-looking machine with a prominent display of analog chaos, the final sound after being routed through the bevvy of pedals...it's so damn cool, and coincidentally (purposefully?) evocative of the visuals of the game that follows.
Thanks so so much! That means a lot to me! I worked really hard on this one haha
It's not gonna be too much longer till someone hires you to write the score for their game 😊😁. You both got some good brains up in them noggins!
Haha thanks so much! It might be sooner than you think 😉 maybe I’m working on it right now
@@emilyharpist right meow?! I knew it!
@@emilyharpist Immediate purchase when it comes out. I hope on GoG as well.
Me, here assuming that you've done scores to multiple games and this is just what you do. Love the low fi you put out on Spotify. This is probably 50% of the reason I've spent too much on synths and pedals in the past 3 weeks.
@@loganfox3134I’ve worked on the music for multiple films but not any games (that are out yet)!!
That four track four pedal reverb wash was insane! So much interesting sound everywhere. Like being in a very stooky cave
Thanks Aaron! It was so cool haha
The shapes that the tape makes as it folds always fascinates me. Like bubbles, so similar but always slightly different
It looks alive kinda, sounds like it too. So much meow, so good
yeah but do you trust it? I think Emily nailed it, I didn't trust these things the first time I saw them. I've seen tapes chewed into mush from angry tape recorders that knew the truth!
@@ClayMann well they do need regular servicing but good instruments do eventually need servicing. In my case I was looking at one and chose the Strymon Volante instead as it sounded pretty close. The best tapes I’ve seen have removable tape cartridges so when one’s done to death you just change it over
What an interesting beep boop machine! :3
Seeing the four outputs going into the four different delay pedals was awesome :D
It was so much fun! Thanks so much
The magic music worm
😂 😂
Now this is epic
stooky indeed
U so gooby goofer
I just love how Russ lost his sh!t when you said "it sounds like HVAC"! I adore you two, I'll never stop watching, you're a fount of awesomesauce!
😂😂😂
Tape echo units are both neat and scary considering how fragile the tape is, also the track you made sounds like it should be in that game, amazing!
It's good to hear you play again, Emily! The endless tape delay is a cool, oldskool effect. I usede to have a 4-channel Echoplex. Be blessed, lady!
4 channel echoplex sounds too good to be true. Wonder if that's where this took inspiration, and then took it even further. I'd go even more nuts for a multichannel echorec
ah man that tape delay sounds so lush and gorgeously wide on headphones. really perfect for harp, guitar, or even keys.
I would honestly love to hear this thing on keys!
That EF-X3 not only sounds cool, but it’s so nice to watch. Could be ASMR just watching it and hearing it operate.
Great vid!
When tape echoes become sentient they will use our intestines as tapes
Emily Hopkins basically making people love harp and all the stuff that goes behind it
Instantly recognisable sound of the Typhon- love it! And the Tape Echo! And the harpist!
The typhon is sooo good! I was looking for something like a quicker and more simple M32/DFAM alternative and it’s perfect!
@@emilyharpist I like the Typhon so much I have two of them. You can actually get them to interact!
That glitch pedal made my neck hair raise. Crazy
so moody! i love the bitcrusher effect it matches the aesthetic super well! great job Emily!
I absolutely loved the track you produced - and seeing your content alongside others with the Echo Fix shows how truly wonderful it is. Again, your track was really beautiful. I could see it becoming a full-length song. Fantastic work!
The Echo Fix has inspired me to mess around with creating a multi-tap delay with a wide stereo spread on my ZOIA. Obviously nowhere near as beautiful, but it was a fun patch to put together!
Thanks Brice! Would really love to hear that ZOIA patch, I bet it sounds awesome!
I love the wall of delay sound! I’m going to have to try that with the pedals I have.
Thanks so much! Definitely try it out if you can, it’s so amazing!
Can't ever go wrong with wall of delays. I mean, you subjectively can, but for me I love any amount of too many delays at once. Too many cooks? Sure, I can trust that sentiment...
but too many delays??
BLASPHEMY!!!
4:07 that foot pedal connection thing threw me the hell off like bro this ain't a physics class you got no right to be that complicated
😂 I’m sorry!!
I'm pretty sure that if I ever had one of these I'd just turn it on and watch the little wiggly guy do his dance and forget to plug in any instruments. I'd invite people over to come hang out and watch the little guy go, and we'd have such great times waiting to see what it did next and yet it would always find a way to surprise us. One day, I'd forget it's not really a squiggly snake and try to feed it crickets (for tone) and that's when disaster would strike, so I must wish the theoretical Efrim the Echo-Fix EF-X3 a sweet and peaceful rest in clouds of warm warbly wash.
Should we use warm character delays during cold months and switch to our clean delays for the summer? How do I match my pedals to the weather?
As a huge fan of delay, stereo panning, and hvac noises, I literally could not be happier :)))))
It's warm character delay weather!! Haha thanks so much Noyd, you are the BEST!
Now This is EPIC™
I just found your channel today and you have inspired me to play music again. Your music and content is awesome!
Thanks so much!
I really enjoy your compositions in general , but every time you play with Joe on drums it's another level.
JOE IS SO GOOD me and him need to make an album together
@@emilyharpist*YES*
And totally agree!
@@emilyharpist yus ma'am please
She got that neapolitan cut ✂️ 😂 songs were great btw! I'm digging this series.
Oh hey this the EchoFix version of the tape delay Brian Setzer uses!!
ik nothing about music and i never know what emily is talking about but i cant stop binging this channel. it makes fun sounds and i just listen
I've got a Roland RE-301 tape echo. the whole tape/tape head setup looks almost exactly like the Echo Fix (presumably because they based this on those old Rolands). I've never used it like this with an additional delay pedal after. It doesn't have the individual tape-head outputs though. That's a really cool feature. It does have the ability to split the direct/echo into two different outputs which isn't the same at all, but could help to add a lot more variety if you used two different pedals. It also has the sound-on-sound feature that you can use as a looper which is fun to play with. I'll have to experiment with using some pedals like this. Looks like a lot of fun. Cool video!!!
Thats so awesome! I've always wanted to try the Roland tape echos, this one was actually my first one! It also has a built in reverb and chorus that have separate outputs as well!
@@emilyharpist It’s very similar to the RE301 then. It also has the chorus and reverb. They’re so fun to use. Very organic sounding and quite versatile in their simplicity
What a fun video. Never would have thought to delay a delay. The music you made was as always amazing and a great use of the 4 outputs on the tape echo.
God the sounds in this video are all so cool. I find myself coming back to hear the awesome delays and synth echos over and over
Emily afared of " That 70's Tech taking over, and 2023 AI is Ok!?" Love you Emily and Russ your laugh and Emily's Imagination! What a pare🙏🫶🌸🤘🍔
😂
my favorite thing is hearing Russ cracking up in the background lol
The four delay pedals going through the EF-X3 are giving me this white noise kind of effect where my brain feels like it's being enveloped by the sound. Very cool! I could listen to it on loop for a while.
Besides a wonderful and charming music, each video on this channel carries such enormous amount of cuteness, that many kitten and puppy compilations rarely does. Thank you so much for your content!
Thank you so much!
Aww man I'm so jealous of your studio! That tape echo machine looks so awesome - I use a D'luxe Replicator from T-Rex with my guitar, which is awesome, but I'm on my last tape right now and it's unclear if they're going to be making any more :(
Awesome soundtrack tho, well done as always, Emily!
This was incredible! I really like the vibe for the game that you added! I should definitely try to do something like this when I stream. just a bit of a challenge. I won't have any pedals or tape echo to work with, but that's a challenge unto itself! Very cool and delightful!
Thank you SO much! 🥰 ♥️ 🎶 it’s so fun to do! I definitely recommend it haha
I for one welcome our tape echo overlords. May the wise EF-X4 grace our mix and deliver us from our dryest signal. 🙇🏽

All Praise the Tape Echooooo
Amen.
@@tylerevans1700 🙏🏽 echo that

Those things are bonkers. I think I saw Andy review it. Hope all is well! Always funny and interesting! ♥️🌎🌏🌍🌞🇨🇦
I always see if on Andy's shelf but I've never seen him review it! He recently made a demo on their spring reverb pedal which is AMAZING!
thats not tape its a worm
it's a tapeworm
I’m taking this thing to the doctor
What a cool machine, and sending the four outputs into four different delays is a crazy idea and sounds awesome 👍👍🙌🙌🙌🙌
Thanks so much! The separate tape heads out are honestly incredible!
This is some mad genius stuff right here!
Thanks so much Sean! Burger incoming!!!
@@emilyharpist WOOHOO!
These videos have doubled as a way for me to hear some awesome music and find new games to play, whoever is curating the games has great taste!
Well done. Funny, fun to watch, thoughtful, lovely :)
Sweet sounds, game looks good. I'd call that a win-win!
This is my favorite CZcams series at the moment. Love the creativity and use of so many different pedals. More than that, I bought a game from the last one and can just play that while I wait for the next episode.
Wow thank you so much! I really appreciate it! Which game did you get? Are you enjoying it? I need to finally play all of those games from that video!
@@emilyharpist Carrion! Went on sale right after the video 😂
Haha no way! I need to pick it up!!!@@ethanpschwartz
That Echo Fix delay is awesome! Amazing sounds as always!
Thanks so much!
Love what you do and I agree having used a Roland 301 and a 201 tape echo back in the day, I had no end of trouble with the tape. That said the 301 was magic when it didn't wow and flutter.
Im jealous of all your gear... especially this cool tape echo! absolutely killed the score though! really cool running the delays into more delays!
This stuff is amazing, the multiple delay breaks the sound barrier. And on a harp no less. Divine
Thanks so much!
Wow this is the most effects pedal. That quad delay of the tape heads sounded great
[TECHMOAN/LMNC INTENSIFIES]
the four channel echo out to different delays was pretty rad - I want to do that on my Subharmonicon now... but I need echo and delay modules still...
That would be so cool to hear! If you ever end up doing it, let me know!
Sounds so sick on headphones. I'd love to run some drums through all those pedals. Great stuff! New sub
That sounded awesome, and it always makes me happy to see the Typhon, that's a proper beast of a box!
Typhon is INCREDIBLE! I recently got it as a gift from Dreadbox, and honestly it's such a good alternative to the M32/DFAM combo i usually use! I need more stuff like that in my studio!
@@emilyharpist sheesh, just stoke my GAS some more, like I Reallyyy need any more of it... 😆
Makes me def wanna look more into the Typhon tho, I've always liked all of the Dreadbox stuff I've seen, yet haven't had to opportunity to play with any yet. I'd really love to jump on the dreadB-traim next time they have a diy version of something, anything really..
This almost curbs my gas at more realistic levels cause Im so in love with that tape echo except I doubt it'll ever be attainable for me, at least not anytime soon/even closely within 10 years... A boy can dream tho..
Loved the vid, as always. This is one of my faves tho, that vidja game music you made touched my soul, and did unspeakable things to it. Awesome
I’m gonna love this channel
Regular gear channel: plugs a guitar into a tape echo pedal.
Emily Hopkins' channel: plugs the four outputs of a tape echo INTO... FOUR DIFFERENT DELAY PEDALS!
😂😂😂
Ooh! Real VU meter! I have an old Sansui amplifier (and TEAC tape deck) with VU meters. Feel the real! Good grief, you're so creative. I love it!!!
Holy shit that sounds amazing!
Fantastic work.
Cool pedal collection if you achieve nothing else with this channel that's definitely something to be proud of.
Holy crap, I've owned everything from Klempt Echolette to Roland Space Echo but that thing looks like a total beast,I want 1!
Fascinating. I know this kind of skill doesn't just happen over night.
P.S Thanks Joe
Thanks so much, Joe!!@@kalb_rec9308
I love this series!
Thanks so much! It's a TON of fun!
That tape echo is so pretty! I was surprised at how good all the delays sounded together. I figured it would have been a jumbled mess. Your soundtrack blew away the HVAC track.
Thanks so much! I was really surprised that all those delays worked out as well -- I think it really helped that all of the delay pedals had such a different character from one another!
Sounds so cool!
😮 I would be going crazy using this echo
did not expect to be this impressed and satisfied after listening to a wide stereo field today. like true level or some shit idk it gets to you
I love the jiji print!
I love tape echo, so fun to watch
I still ponder on the Byzantine Empire from time to time.
Also, thanks for the matchbook you sent, hope you got the stickers I mailed back.
Those drums were sick. As was everything. I'm a mega huge tape echo nerd fan boi, and that was the coolest tape echo I've seen, bar none. Also prob the coolest use of it that could exist.
I could have missed it, but have you ever played with a Binson Echorec? My dream machine, in addition to this guy now, so I'll truly have my lifelong echofix satisfied. 💜
Ephemeral Galactic Sawce as expected, amazing work guys!!!
Holy shit that game track was fantastic, the pedal slow delay isolated adds to the creepy factor
Well, now I'm heading down the tape echo rabbit hole. Thanks!
awesome soundtrack, fits so well
Thanks so much!
I love seeing the typhon in videos.
What are effect pedals? I've looked it up but i still don't understand. Your music sounds lovely by the way!
You plug your instrument into them and it changes the sound in a ton of different ways! Some of them are simple like distortion but others get really wild!
Tape echos can only become sentient if you load them up with Müller-Fokker tape.
😂 good to know!
(as always) Nice sounds, Emily. Quite interesting machine. I'd also freak out with the tape doing that thing 😁 It's the 80s kind of trauma 😂
As for the game, at first it reminded me of the old "Another World". When listening to the original soundtrack, it also sounds like Flashback. I love that sound design mixed with some nice synths. The only thing missing is that drums and harp 😉
A real tape delay……god I’m old! Way to go Emily, you sound awesome.
Thanks so much!!
Dang, I can listen to that tone all day. You should record a lofi or synthwave album using that setup.... Smooth...
...and all that sounds like this
(*lovely music plays*)
😌👌✨🎶💖
I love it!
That is quite cool
I have my grandads WEM Watkins Copicat tape echo from the early 70’s, and it’s the greatest bit of kit that I own. There’s just something about analog tape echo that itches part of my brain
I don't know anything about pedals but I like you attitude and you make some cool music.
I feel like you and David Hilowitz would make a great collab and make some great pieces together and talk about your methods of how you put your own pieces together
congrats on all the recent boom of success... Awesome...
I like this channel a whole bunch 😊
What a stooky video as per usual...
With the Tape echo, can you reuse the tape, or do you have to put in a new tape?
Ahhhh stooky, thank you so much@@ScorobeSlavinpoop
the squiggly tape loop in all tape echo machines.... is indeed sentient, just try replacing one on an old space echo and you will become familiar with their fickle moods very quickly. takes a lot of patience but is ultimately rewarding to commune with the tape organism
I need a 3 hr loop of the stuff you start playing at 2:41 to fall asleep to every night
Amazing 📼
John Cage RIP, would love that machine. I am so old it brings back flashbacks to mix tapes gone wild.
he really would have
That is so rad. I'm jealous af lol. I've only seen that in my amp/fx simulator. 🔥
totaly awesome !
That wall of delay was such a cool effect
watching these videos makes me want to start playing again
It's making me think, imagine a 'harp' or small 5 or 7 string lyre. but the strings are a kind of taut tape / tape loop. And when you pluck it, it causes the audio on that tape to play, or be gated through for a short while, maybe the lower tape strings play a longer segment too; like seconds for the lowest notes, down to 100ms or so for the highest. Maybe something more old school like those ancient wire recorders technology would work better than 'tape'.
