📖📖📖 You have no idea the impact you have on us as your community. I have always had the desire to adopt. ever since I was 13. But watching your videos, you have taught me soooooo much. I have submitted my application to become a licensed foster dad in the state of NC, planning to adopt directly from the system. I have already decided that I want to adopt an older kid from the foster care system. I thank you for sharing that option to me. I have learned soooo much from you and your experiences. I had my official home visit last week and I'm waiting to be licensed! I am doing matched adoption of 10 years old and up, hopefully of a sibling group of 2. I am single and a teacher. I've wanted to do this for years and I'm finally going to do it! I'm very excited and also a bit nervous.

Maybe you could do some videos about mentoring! I started mentoring a teen about to age out, and it's been incredible. We can't foster or adopt right now, but I couldn't do nothing. And I've found mentoring has been something I absolutely can do, and it's making an incredible impact in both our lives. It's also a great alternative for folks who are maybe more introverted who still want to help. Help is an understatement for sure.

📚 how likely is it to need a dual license that covers us for foster care as was as adoption? We are looking to adopt from foster care but with a private agency that allows us to look in other states. This agency will only license us for adoption. Is that a mistake?

We are three weeks from our matching date for a sibling group of three (8, 10, 12) and leaving our home open for their sister (17). This is the hardest part thus far. Our previous match day had us and one other family in contention and we unfortunately were not selected. Hoping for a good result this time. Love your videos, very informative.

How did it go?
@@enfant00x We were selected and have had several trips to meet the children. They are amazing and we are all very excited for this new journey. The process has taken six months but, the training and experience we gained while fostering was a big step in preparing for where we are now.

Is a kinship adoption free?
This probably varies state by state, but I would imagine in most cases it is free. You would become licensed as foster parents in most cases and actually may get financial assistance from the state.
