A bunch of dwarves got lost in a 'sector' of Azeroth that we've NEVER heard of! Sounds like set-up for future content to me!

"Should probably have been designated as classified" is fantastic flavour text for somehting that talks about the very thing that was spoiled by some files accidentally not being encrypted. It's a great reference!
I was thinking that too! I think it's very intentional.
Also something else that everyone seems to be missing is that based on trailers, thw Dragon Isles were not connected to the super continent prior to the sundering. This is amazingly huge for Azerothian Geography because prior we've been led to believe that all known lands were connected pre sundering, yet despite places like the northern end of the Eastern Kingdoms being pushed away past the Dragon Isles, they were not part of the major landmass.
Actually, in one of the books, I think chronicles, it's refers to Kalemdor (mega continent) as the largest continent on Azeroth. So while not specifically mentioned, you can't be the largest without other continents.
@@joshcal7370 valid, but still I want to know how quelthelas got where it did passing by the Isles lol
@@Sagewinds I heard something that the dragon isles moves around. Not sure where I heard it or if it’s true.
@@joshcal7370 I vaguely remember that from one of the dev interviews I believe but I don't really trust those as cannon info
or much like maps of the earth, the drawn maps are not exactly perfect to scale...kinda like how Hawaii or Alaska may appear on right off the coast of CA on some maps of the US
A bit unrelated, but I really love that Uldaman's getting a new wing based on us going through a door we never bothered to look through before.
It was really fun to discover ancient ruins and chambers under a desert in vanilla, and it's fun and kinda realistic to discover we didn't fully explore them and it turned out there was a massive extra part - Egyptian tombs that were thought fully explored for decades have had entire extra segments discovered thanks to advances in radar imaging, and I love ancient lost civilisation stuff.
Honestly, much as people don't like cosmic stuff, I'd love to discover some Black Empire ruins one day from before the Titans came to Azeroth - or even another of the forces. Maybe before the Old Gods came there was a small Life outpost or something.
Maybe this lost civilization, or ”hererics”, are corrupted by Old Gods and are rebuilding the Black Empire underground somewhere.
Hence the big worry of the Titans.
I believe there might actually be hollow sections of Azeroth as occasionally in the Blingtron 5000 gifts you occasionally get items and codes messages that references it.
I would love a subterranean zone. Like expanding Maraudon. So much you can do with subterranean nature and elements.
I've always wondered how the ships sailing between Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms never hit any of the islands they've jammed into the middle until the expansions were released. It seems like they're intent on keeping us contained in that small area, or other planets and planes of existence, rather than expanding on the outer sides of the original continents.
lore wise the ships naturally sail around the islands our maps just get updated.
Indeed. I once had a crack at flying across, as based on the maps the gaps between the various islands might just be manageable, at a stretch. It didn't work but from a pure distance point of view it could have done.
Feel like WoW could do a really good 'Lost Civilization' style expansion where you are some exploration vanguard. A starting port City that upgrades thought out the expansion as well as new towns and outposts springing up, with AQ War Effort / Profession style event at max level that sends you off into 2-3 of these big unexplored hostile zones for resources and to discover what happened to the people and if any remain, with a solid story and world driven patch content and pacing to boot. Would probably need more resources than WoW gets anymore though to actually deliver the content though. Would also serve as a good way to re-imagine and reinvent Archaeology.
As the story progresses, I hope dwarves come out to lead the Alliance narrative. I'm really tired of Humans in warcraft. sometimes it seems that no other race exists in Alliance.
Or at least in leadership positions
@@aramere3650 there are only humans in the Alliance. Regular humans, short humans, tiny humans, pointy ear humans, wolf humans etc.
@@Fugitive292 which is why I always chose horde
@@Fugitive292 other Alliance races don't get as much screen time as humans and that's main problem, they can't show their differences if they don't have even a chance.
Yup! I‘d be all for that!
Yogg-Saron's survival was not being teased. His voice line was a repeat of the past. The mobs he spawned were called echoes. He himself refers to his body as a corpse when he dies, and warns his corpse will curse the land. What was being teased is Yogg-Saron spawning echoes, like Y'shaarj did with the Sha.
Ah yes, the god of death, dead
@@NoConsequenc3 He is the God of Death because he made the Curse of Flesh that turned the immortal creations of the Titans into mortals that wither and die. He brought aging and death into our world. That does not make him immune to destruction.
He himself declared himself a corpse in his dying breath. Blizzard has called them dead several times.
That said, they are Outsiders. Their bodies may have died on Azeroth, but they are not gone. Like a slain elemental or demon, they have returned to their home realm, to respawn there, in the Void.
@@NoConsequenc3 Self named, god of death.
When he mentioned the "Society of Ancient Dwarves" my mind quickly jumped off to a Dwarf expansion with vast underground zones/cities. That would be so epic.

Now I wonder if the sword, might have been a global stab at some thing more unique, now.
True. Did Sargeras happen to stab Azeroth in Silithus, or is there something underneath the grounds of the zone? I know there could be potential retcon within the stab in the future, but hopefully it doesn't retcon Sargeras' ideology.
part of me thinks Sargeras was in a way "arming" azeroth when she wakes up for whatever He and the Jailor saw coming
What sword?
Hold on.........wasnt it so, that Arthur became king in the legend, after pulling out the sword, excalibur out of a stone? Maybe we revive him in Avaloren and he pulls it out......
@@andyr4451 I don't trust blizzard to think something like that, though I gotta say, it's kinda silly, but that's exactly the kind of thing that works in woW i think
Averloren recalls me to both Athel Loren and Averlorn in Warhammer, that are both the two most sacred forests for the elves in the setting. Damn even Lorien in the Tolkien world is an elven forest.
And if we go Sylvan Elf in Warcraft it is probably going to be something related to the Night Elves. Or are they finally giving the High Elves a home? No it doesn't seem the current Blizzard is going in that direction.
I think Avaloren seems to be a reference to the back side of the planet, so I wouldn't be surprised if we go there in a future expansion. BUT, if they just give us a Northrend or Pandaria style continent, they'd be making a big mistake. Something like the other side of the world needs a continent Eastern Kingdoms size at least.
Avaloren appears to be a reference to Avalon based upon simply reading the same; the mythological land of plenty from the ancient Celts.
Could Avaloren just be Pandaria? I don't know when exactly these notes are supposed to have been written, so maybe it was pre-sundering, but Pandaria fits the bill pretty perfectly if the timeline works, given it was a hidden land obscured by magic and inhabited by what Titans would probably think of as heretics with their lack of Titan-worship
Isn't there a note from a previous expansion (was it mechagon?) about an underground war going on between "dwarfs/gnomes" and a nerubian like race? Could that been connected to Khaz Algor? Makes sense that it might be connected.
Oh fuck that's the secret Blingtron war right? It would be insane if they referenced that
Ayoooo
Torghast but the layers are negative
An entire expansion devoted to fleshing out old, actual WoW lore would be great. Azjol-Nerub is a fine place to start...League of Explorers, a beefed-up archeology system wedded to tools from all existing professions just for said exploring would be fabulous.
Azjol-Nerub would make a fine addition to the Horde.
I for one welcome Our 8 Limbed Friends.
Note how the tablet says that the Earthen of Khaz Algar haven't completely succumbed to the curse of flesh like actual dwarves.
Also, we **still** don't know where trolls and goblins came from, though Uldir implies trolls have a titanforged origin, there's hints that they're related to drogbar and the goblins are supposedly a keeper experiment.
I think they all come from dwarves if I remember from an old video about the troll empire back in BFA
I think it would be cool if Avaloren was setting up for the back of Azeroth. I could see it having a titan complex on it, though Uldorus would have been better for that. That would also explain the mist around the continent and why no one has ever returned.
When it references a fissure it makes me wonder if this is the Rift of Aln or whatever its called underneath the Maelstrom that divides the material plane from the Emerald Dream and the Twisting Nether, now this was in the Book Stormrage which I don't believe is cannon or if it is never remember it being mentioned in lore. However in that book Furion finds that the Rift connects all realms or something like that to azeroths heart and Nzoth and Saragaras at the time where both trying to exploit it. It's been a hot minute since I read that one but I do remember that being a plot point.
deepholm is underneath the maelstrom
Stormrage is canon, but some things in it have been downplayed.
I spilled my milk over that Britta filter with Yogg tentacles in it.
Dawn of the Aspects is an amazing book. All of the books about dragon lore are highly recommended reading for any warcraft player, fan, or simply anyone who loves fantasy reading. You learn so much about the history of all of the dragonflights, their aspects, and key members of each flight.
It's all the old gods. They need to use the dwarves to infiltrate. They failed before but now they have a diamond dwarf.
no.
I'm 100% here for Hollow Azeroth! Where do I sign up for this Cult?
Xanadoom?
If they now where to give us a ful new underground zone, I'm guessing it will be massive, considering that the entire expansion revolves around riding dragons. Would have to be really big to allow players to fly down there.
What if the Dwarves that go into the fissure find a new Old God, a small one or an egg that never developed, or was damaged in some way when it landed on the planet. And with this discovery they see it as their duty to protect Azeroth from this threat so they stay and seal the fissure up to lock it away. This could be a way to introduce a friendly, allied aspect of the void.
of all the books i found in the dungeon, "edicts of the prime designate" and "progress report: uldorus" were better juicy lorebits for me. excited to see what you will say of those!
I think theres a barrier of time on half of the globe. The dwarfs hit it when they were digging, and the ships sailed into it when they were sailing. Whatever is behind it, is beyond time and space itself and it swaths. Kinda like an 8 kinda like infinite. But a natural infinite. Not like nether. But void ;)
I'm honestly excited for Dragonflight, and that's a feeling I haven't had for WoW for quite a few expansions. Here's hoping it doesn't disappoint.
Yogg's gotta be around still, he laughs at you when your raid wipes to the Jailer.
I could be wrong but I remember reading in chronicles that the vrykul with the cursed children(ancient humans) settled in the area that is the Arthai Highlands now.
Years ago I remember seeing a description within the LORE stories of a battle at sea and damaged ships disappearing into the distance sea heading south of the South Western side of Kalimdor.
I thought one day there might have been some explanation...
As for The Dragon Isles, cant wait to explore and discover the LORE 😆
avaloren is kinda close to algalon, that story of the ships never returning reminds me of the start of the bg strand of the ancients, when you arrive in a bay with all these destroyed ships and you have to siege the titan strong hold to take the titan artifact. makes me wonder if it could have been an early depiction of avaloren, I believe this bg was removed from game and cant help but think it was because they want something more cannon with it. Cool concept huge titan defense structure containing a Titan relic/artifact. Maybe that's why Odin wants to get there so bad?
That would be a total blizz move.
They absolutely nail dragon flying. Then send us underground where we can't fly for the rest of the expansion.
Good stuff! I always thought the Maelstrom was the inside of Azeroth and we saw some of that in Cata right? That entire concept of what's inside Azeroth is an excellent playground for content though for sure.
Where's the Neburians burrowing underground while this is taking place.
Out-there speculation: Avaloren is a place so influenced by the Old Gods that even Titan Keepers can fall to the curse of flesh. None ever return because they're welcomed as part of the new race by the "heretics".
I really dont wanna go underground again deepholm was a pain, I also dont want to go underwater either that vash water zone was just irritating. So let whatever goes on under ground/water be spewed forth onto the surface lol :D
An underworld expansion for WoW would be awesome. Azeroth having different spheres and levels beneath the surface opens up so much potential.
Same goes for Avaloren, especially if its a continent.
I personally never liked it that Azeroth should only have one continent. Why restrict potential and story in such an unnecessary way. No other fantasy universe does that, because its counter productive. Its downright non-sensical.
In my opinion it could be good if Avaloren only represents a part of a new continent. Like Europe or India are part of Eurasia.
This way Blizzard doesn't have to put in a whole continent at once, but can add to its size and number of regions in patches but also whole new expansions if they so choose.
I think having one or two more continents on Azeroth next to shattered Kalimdor would be nice. Three is a good number. All good things come in threes.
The brita with Yogg'saron tentacles was priceless. ^^
A new location, like a continent, even a smaller one, would be really cool.
But, if they did add one it would most likely be similar to Dragon Isles or Broken Isles in size instead of like Northrend.
Here is one way to make your "hollow Azeroth" idea work.
The Old Gods, in the past, at the height of their power, burrowed throughout the planet, like mycellium.
This would have been before the Titans created the well of eternity.
Then when the Titans halted their efforts to corrupt the planet they just stayed underground.
Here in this realm of their own making they would spread, and wait, bidding their time until the surface became vulnerable.
This would also mean that every Old God that players defeated was just a puppet of the real enormous Old God.
Think of how large the well of eternity was. An Old God used to be there.
This could also mean that Khaz Algar is a safe location to enter this forgotten realm.
What wonders, and horrors, await us?
What if they use these new dwarves to construct the Thing that finally takes down the BBEG, in the end. Assuming he’s right on some stuff. That would neat.
I'm picturing the deep roads in dragon age.
We could be getting Avaloren and Khaz Algar in the same content patch, similar to Nazjatar+Mechagon. That would be massive. Either way Dragonflight has potential to tell a solid story.
No one returns alive huh? Just like the Maw where we could come and go as we please.
There's a fissure in the world..."
Yeah....a giant ass sword driven deep into it by Sargeras kind of has that effect.
They should call it "Middle-Azeroth."
If they use Dragon Age: Inquistions dlc "The Descent" as inspiration for visuals, I'm all in
azjol needs to still become a zone. i want all canceled zones to become a thing they literally dont even need to tie into the current lore. like islands dont witth anything other than azerite some of them are from the old wars when the horde were invaders
Hollow Azeroth.. it remembers me Dungeons & Dragons' Mystara Hollow World. Maybe some influence? :)
My favorite race is the dwarves, dark iron specifically, really hope we see some ancient cool new dwarves!
Ladies and gentleman I give you the center of the Earth...
Edit: I think the flavor text of the book is literally a joke by blizzard referencing the fact that "dragon isles underground" was meant to be encrypted or "classified" till 10.1
How would the globe not be mapped out at this point, back in Legion we had access to a SPACE SHIP FFS.
Zovaal also mentions things being in cycles
Hollow earth could be cool, but give us an age of discovery, sailing off into the unknown. The groundwork for it is already done.
A dwarf race? Sounds like a horde allied race opportunity
dident the anub spider race create that hollow onder northrend ?
Anyone curious as to whether or not Khaz Algar could be connected or tied to Azjol Nerub? Maybe they're physically connected enough to be warring kingdoms.
They could connect it if the underground zone is more like a continent than just a small zone like Deepholm
what i believe is when 10.000 years ago the light that was burning to the sky was the azeroth the earths core and when they closed it all the power came in to the earth and that's why we have more and more free will and that's how we so strong or something like that at least
Evil mirror heretic Azaroth would be fascinating...
"This is all Brann Bronzebeard and a bunch of archaeologists..."
You know what would be really cool? If they added a profession in game to go along with this! So players can play the game to learn more about the lore. Man, that would be cool!
Anyone else wonder if Maldraxxas was the cut Ashoka Nerub zone but finished?
Lol the brita filter had a old god tentacle
I'm starting to think that the Titans created Galakrond while tinkering with infused waters to control beings of flesh
I wonder if the fissure has something the do with the fissure the blingtron messages described
they should bring back Archaeology and tell this story through tablets and re-forged artefacts
Could Avalorn just be the Dragon Isles zzzz
Playing as a Dwarf since Vanilla, its about time "we" got some love/limelight! Always bloody hoomans! Bring on some "proper" lore! 🙂
thats a long time /played
blizzard : let put another big world
oh, you mean another island ?
Love some good titan lore again. This expansion feels like WoW again
Wow artists take on a hollow Azeroth? We had deepholm, which was pretty spectacular at its time and haven't seen its like since
Ancient Dwarfs Willingly cut themselves off from the surface to avoid the dragons killing them off. Old Dwarfs have become hyper advanced compared to the surface races. Bad guy dragons of Dragonflight find a way to old dwarfs home. Tell old dwarfs about evil surface races teaming up with dragons, say they have the same enemies. Old dwarfs team up with spooky dragons throughout dragonlands. Ends with them trying to escape on old dwarf space ship, we stop them and take the ship, ends with us going to space and being attacked by void baddies.
Maybe an Underground expansion?
you referenced the book in reference to tirna nock or something
Humans going the wrong way from northrend. Then back the right way to Lorderon …. It’s daft. No. Not that.
I've already read all audiobooks available on audible multiple times and await the new exploring azeroth book. Coming soon. Put me on ur team lmao. I'm at the point idk what to do with all this information
Bran is the name of the Fisher King in some myths btw.
This is a big tin foil hat, but in one of the WotLK classic trailers, the voice over says, "All will serve the one true king", which why not exactly the title for Arthur, it does seem somewhat fitting. (Arthurs being the Once and Future King) Probably nothing, but a potential cool tidbit.
You know what? Let's keep this bit of Explorers and Colonists next expansion, find new territories and friends to recruit into the Horde.
.....
I guess the Alliance can be there to, maybe in the corner somewhere.
Also Playable Nerubians and Druids of the Flame when?
I thought they already did hollow azeroth with deepholm?
Odynn hates them?
I think I like these guys already.
Please no backside of Azeroth....
If only there was a sword in a stone that's impossible to move.
Sure itd not just the Rune Dwarves in Storm Peaks Northrend?
Love coming back to this video in 11.0 😂
WoW x Warhammer 40k crossover confirmed.
Khaz Algan = Votann
Next faction is lizard dwarves
Lol did you sneak in a clip from the original Dragon age?
Cant wait to see all that lore get thrown out the window in between patches!
I'm just tired of the "add some previously unknown context to story archs we already know" tactic. It's like Blizzard literally doesn't know how to continue stories without doing this.
dawn of aspects is amazing, had it for years
Honest;y this kind of speculation is alot more interesting to me the 'MOAR DRAGONS' XD
I absolutely loathe that I pay for youtube premium to not have to deal with ads, yet yourself and many other content creators put them in your actual video, at least time stamp them so that we can still skip them rather then having to flick through it to find where you actually start talking about what we came here to watch.
Should probably not put the spoiler in the freaking title... C'mon man
As the Alliance has basically Blood Elves now I want the Horde to get some cool darkish Dwarven race!
I love dwarf lore. A ready i like warhammer Dawi better. Wow ones u don’t hear much about except like any flesh beings just being cursed.
Azeroth x Made in Abyss incoming
Yo I am telling you! This is gonna be a new patch zone with a raid it must be! 10.1 maybe?
its weird when no one cares about trying to explore azeroth by sea. Like maybe the kul tirans? idk it's WoW universe so I guess no character cares about discovery on their world.
Bro I've been reading Dawn of the Aspects and it's so good
