Mike Rowe recommended........anything by G.K.Chesterton is worth checking out.....great arrangement
Staggeringly good.
On my sixth listen. A thing of beauty and crystalline airs. It falls on the ears as delicately as the snow itself.
Mike Rowe has amazing taste in music. This is gorgeous!
As beautiful, stirring and heart-warming as Christmas itself. Thank you, Mike Rowe, for bringing this into my life!
Hauntingly beautiful. My new favorite Christmas carol. Thanks, Mike, for sharing this.
Mike Rowe will lead you to good things
There is heard a hymn when the panes are dim,
And never before or again,
When the nights are strong with a darkness long,
And the dark is alive with rain.
Never we know but in sleet and in snow,
The place where the great fires are,
That the midst of the earth is a raging mirth
And the heart of the earth a star.
And at night we win to the ancient inn
Where the child in the frost is furled,
We follow the feet where all souls meet
At the inn at the end of the world.
The gods lie dead where the leaves lie red,
For the flame of the sun is flown,
The gods lie cold where the leaves lie gold,
And a Child comes forth alone. - G. K. Chesterton, A Child of the Snows
I've listened to the whole album, and this is still my favorite. Such a haunting, unique tune, beautiful harmonies, just everything. I'm a huge fan of Chesterton, and this is a breathtaking arrangement of his poem, and an amazing find.
(Also, I don't know a thing about Mike Rowe, except that I found his post while looking for literally any Chesterton inspired songs, and that's how I got here. Very odd that so many people found this that way, but I am certainly grateful for his post!)
Mike Rowe led me to this. Such excellent taste in music! This is absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks for this reference, Mike Rowe. Beautiful.
That is absolutely heavenly. The harmony is so tight, so interwoven that it is as if it is one voice. Thank you.
