@@peace4myheart True, but how realistic would it be to send dozens of enemies or infected at them every time the scene changes? How many times did you respawn while playing because you died? Show Joel and Ellie can't respawn if they die. Same reason why they gave Ellie a rifle on the show instead of a bow. More realistic. More believable when she has to defend herself if she has a gun, but the bow works for the game. See what I'm saying?
From this ep Joel sees Ellie as his daughter... Ep1 Joel to Sarah: "C'mon baby girl, I'm gonna get you" Ep8 Joel to Ellie: "It's ok, baby girl. I've got you"
What got me the most was that they had Ellie being the one to save herself. Just like Rick on "The Walking Dead", she had a moment where she fully channeled her savage side. It was when she grabbed the cleaver. Any shred of innocence that remained from the past 7 episodes has just been annihilated right along with David. I did notice as well that Joel looked as though he was trying to be careful on how he approached Ellie. He didn't call out her name like anybody else would have. I think he saw by how she was walking and how disheveled she looked that something really bad just happened and Ellie was not ok. He made sure to approach her carefully and quickly so he could restrain her and help her calm down. Trauma has been Joel's constant companion for 20 years, whether he suffered it or inflicted it. He knows what it looks like. Joel's face after he says, "babygirl" showed that he realized Ellie was now him.
Another great episode. The most savage of the series so far. Ellie has to save herself, but Joel manages to drag himself up from near death to survive and go find her. Great performances all around.
39:02 Doesn’t seem like “chip on her shoulder” means what you think it means. The phrase refers to resentment. Ms. Ramsey had no reason to resent a man who voiced a character a decade ago. 😂😂 The actress was 9 when the game came out & it sounds like she hadn’t played it. She didn’t have the emotional investment in it that some viewers do.
I really hope in season 2 Ellie gets her bow. Would make sense, if little Bella goes on a murder tour, then this must be done quietly, because in close combat little Ellie has hardly a chance. Against several not at all.
Yes but It makes perfect sense that Ellie has a gun in the show. Nobody could hold a bow as long as Ellie in the game. A bow like the one she uses has a draw weight of 20-30 lbs. She holds it with 2 fingers. It usually takes about 10 seconds to fire. In the game she stands there for several minutes with a drawn bow.. No 14 year old girl would be able to do that. I like that they pay attention to these details in the show.
@@drangduewel First, only the player determines how long the bow spans. If you need 30 minutes, that's your problem. Secondly, she can also use a compound bow. Every 10-year-old can stretch and shoot it. I was archery when I was 12. A bit exhausting but absolutely doable.
The adaptations made will not translate well in bringing TLOUS2 to the big screen. Gameplay, and missing spores carry the game far more than the story and characters. There are crucial scenes that will be left out. Bet on it.
No, I think episode 9 is the last one... pretty damn sure in fact. I think it will be a longer final episode though! Sad to see this coming to an end, but oh well... season 2 IS coming, so it isn't goodbye forever I guess.
What happened is the first episode was supposed to end with Joel throwing the kid into the fire. They ended up combining episode 1 and 2 to extend the runtime of the premiere, but they meant they could only have a 9 episode season. If I had one complaint, it's the short episodes. HBO shows should be 50 minutes to an hour, minimum, per episode. Most of this season, the eps were 45-50 minutes with the finale being the shortest at 43 minutes of runtime.
Fun fact: Joel was easily recovered because he ate the first guy he killed, then used his energy to kille the other two, then ate them both so he had energy to travel to Silver Lake. 🥩🥩
This episode showed us what Marlene meant when she said she knew what Joel was "Capable of." Even at 10% he's more dangerous than most people at 100%
This is what "video game" Joel is.

I find it darkly humorous that Ellie ends up killing the original Joel here...
..And that "It's okay baby girl, I've got you' gave me chills.
Troy probably loved that lol.
Welcome to Pastor David's Church and Steak House, I would suggest a nice vegetarian dish
😂😂😂😂

Ep1
Joel to Sarah: "C'mon baby girl, I'm gonna get you"
Ep8
Joel to Ellie: "It's ok, baby girl. I've got you"
🥲
Props to Scott Shepherd who played David in this episode, his understated tone and demeanor made the character even more creepy.
The casting is spot on. He did David justice. I like this James more than the videogame one.
Ellie: "Hey James, your voice sounds kind of familiar."

This episode was so fucking good, the guy who played David did such a good job, I actually found him a bit more unsettling than game David
49:02 The knife is a cleaver. It’s used to chop through bone and big chunks of meat.
HAhaha, that doorbell at the end xD
Watch it be a guy named David lol
@@lordfoul6259 that would be something. 🤣
when Joel says baby girl just gets me every time
"I got you baby girl" 😭💕

39:17 “Chip on her shoulder”?!!!! About what? It’s clear that they got along very well.
Fantastic reaction ma ❤Keep it up and best wishes Kunja 🥰
Oh Got - looking towards Season 2 reactions.
was that the Friends "fuck you" sign I just saw? lmao
Awesome reaction this was the most disturbing part of the game and they nailed it perfectly and we got to see Ellie kill Joel in a way lol

@@TheGoodDeacon There is only one scene where the spores in part 2 would be important and that would be because of Nora. And that's it.
Best episode yet, This is too dope!
Thank you, Aishwarya! 🩸 #IndianCalypso #TheLastOfUs #TLOU #TheLastOfUsHBO

I heard the finale episode 9 is like just 43 minutes
