      hall of fame
      FAME is the main word (as RnR means just music for this one)
      Skinny Puppy and Ministry are awesome, but not famous....
      so... NIN will get it, SP and Ministry will not

    2021 chiming in. Man... that is some humble respect when he says Skinny Puppy should be inducted.

    I never seem NIN as industrial...for me they transcend that, really.

    When I listen to NIN, it always reminds me on bands like Alien Sex Fiend or Christian Death, especially the older stuff like Pretty Hate machine.

    al jourgenson's music didnt so sound so industrial in the beginning either. nice share. filter's short bus album is still awesome.

      Well,
      depends:
      I think that "Twitch" LP pretty much had the raw industrial sound mixed with wave elements. But the rock component wasn't there at this time.

    Nothing against NIN - like them.
    But I can understand that Skinny Puppy and Ministry definitely deserve it!

  • @georgestetson5572
    @georgestetson5572 Před 2 lety +1

    The rock hall of fame is just a popularity contest especially now that they air it on TV it’s about who’s going to bring in ratings not who deserves it

    Ministry & NIN should get in 1st...maybe Skinny Puppy down the road but the Industrial stratosphere was cemented by Al Jourgensen & his cronies like Paul Barker...Reznor was like their prodigy & Skinny Puppy also got a boost from Uncle Al (Rabies LP)...along with Filter & Marilyn Manson & the obvious catalysts like Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, Kraftwerk, Foetus, Front Line Assembly, Thrill Kill Kult & rest of WAX TRAX RECORDS Family, RnR Hall Of Fame should dedicate an entire WING or maybe a mini-Mansion to the Industrial Goth Rock Arts!!!

    • @aramchek
      @aramchek Před 5 lety +1

      Fuck that, trent reznor basically is just a pale imitation of Ogre and totally ripped off some SP songs in the beginning, which he admitted to a few times.
      NIN is a pop version of industrial rock.

  • @alexandrebyte

    hall of fame
    FAME is the main word (as RnR means just music for this one)
    Skinny Puppy and Ministry are awesome, but not as famous as NIN, see how many records they have sold and how many followers in spotify and social networks.... and they have lots of cool songs and lots of shitty songs, they are not as solid and constant as NIN
    so... NIN will get it, SP and Ministry will not

    • @myflatlineconstruct
      @myflatlineconstruct Před 2 lety +1

      Is inspiring commercial success the measure? I have appreciation of Trent but the whole industrial movement was to overturn the statues quo. It is punk rock.
      Trent will never be true industrial. He would even admit. His music uses the same instrumentation but focuses on inner struggle. Industrial wanted to change the world.

  • @mdc3227
    @mdc3227 Před 3 lety

    I love Skinny Puppy, but they pale in comparison to the mainstream and critical success that Trent had with Nine Inch Nails. There aren't many bands in the world that have done more to elevate a genre of music than NIN did with rock in the early-late 90's and few that have inspired so many other AAA artists.

    • @myflatlineconstruct
      @myflatlineconstruct Před 2 lety +1

      Is that what we should do? Inspire other AAA artists?
      Or maybe they should be scary. Scary to the point that people take notice what the songs are about. Skinny Puppy are punk rock. They have something to say beyond inner turmoil that Trent's music focuses on.
      Not that one is better than the other, just different, and one sells records.
