Billy, at the height of F125 shifter karting 1990-1999, here in America I contested all of the Southern California series having only one leg. I lost my left leg in a helicopter crash. I was working as a Hollywood Stuntman at the time. Of all the formulas I drove, F-Contential, F-Atlantic, it was driving shifters I found to be more brutal and technical to drive smooth and fast. As an amateur driver, I won 11 out of 12 races. as a Pro 3 out of 7. my first full year. After that, I moved to the longer tracks which Myself and my Teammate Gene Sigal dominated. As an amputee, the biggest issue I had was keeping my butt planted in the back of the seat under hard braking. I still had my right leg so I welded the master cylinder onto the right frame rail. As for a throttle Dave Miller at DMC Racing Anaheim, CA fabricated a paddle that covered the backside of my wheel from 9 to 6as if the wheel was a clock. It worked magnificently. Dave does master quality work. Billy, If you want to drive, seriously, that will to do so, can only come from a burning desire within you. As an amateur driver, I used a fold-up trailer and a Honda Accord to pull my kart to each race. 99% of the time I went all by myself. I had nobody to help me unload, set up the Easy-Up or to help me tune. I wanted to compete so bad I was there to learn. My motivation was my driving force. Billy, without the inner fire to succeed and win...to believe in yourself you will become frustrated and quit driving. But think about what you can accomplish with that energy put to good use. If you want to talk I can relate to what you are going through better than most. I am also a motor builder and have built 13 land speed records GP Bikes and contested Moto GP as a builder for John Hopkins. If you need someone to help you make sense out of all you/we are going through and uplift the minds of other handicap individuals who want to race competitively here's my number, Steve Solo 949-391-0229 We can also start a school for handicapped individuals who want to learn how to drive competitively....to pay for our racing. You are lucky to have survived your crash, as was I. Perhaps we were both put on this earth to raise awareness showing amputees can compete and win against able-body people. Call me and let's change the world.!

June 24 2019 I met in an accident. A taxi driver did a U-turn and almost end my existence. Even up to this day I don't remember the accident happening at all. I woke up in the hospital feeling a lot of pain and I was trying to figure out if I fell off my bicycle or my motorcycle.when the visiting hours came I later found out what took place while I was heading back home on my motorcycle. I didn't know that three days had past and I can't remember anything that my family members said that I told them, they said that the first day when they came to see me I was saying that I need to pay my rent. I can't believe I could have died and all that was on my mind was to pay my rent which is due on the 25th of each month. I am much better now but my scars are very much visible and I've accepted that I have a few scars but I also have my life still. BILLY MONGER I truly admire your determination, mindset and will power. I thought the same thing .... how is it possible that a car stopped in the middle of the track is not reported in some fucking way????? I can't believe it😤
there was like 2 or 3 seconds between the carlin car stopping and Billy crashing into it so it all happened in like 4 seconds or so and even in f1 they have like 5 sec delay between the incident and the flag. Such guts, character and determination to have such a nasty accident and to be back racing again. Such an inspiration to me. Not all super heroes wear capes.
Here’s a grown man trying not to cry this is incredible Billy’s a HERO 🙌
Billy while in hospital after the crash talking to one of the nurses. “ Oh well, at least i wont ever again have to worry bout smelly feet”. 😂
This was so funny I forgot to laugh
Aaaaaah, what a beautiful sense of humour, Billy.
How did you think that was funny?
Not funny
ah shit, here comes another reply section fight
What a champ ❤️
yes
ohh yes Wish him the very best
Me too.
Me wish you all the best in all your endeavours. What a roll model Billie, you inspire me!
why? Netflix is for the retarded sjw blm fucktards... This kid deserves wayyyy better he is the definition of a warrior!
And still with a smile on his face, you're an inspiration my man, you've brought tears to my eyes. I need to be more appreciative, my whole outlook has changed. I cannot thank you enough, thank you...
Yup, if we think our life is bad all we gotta do is watch this! He's an amazing young man!
What an unbelievable young man, nothing but respect.
This isn't a feelgood story, this is an epos of dedication, the true embodiment of a sportsman, but also a story about a down to earth kid and his loving family.
And I'm not crying, you are!
This lad is going to be an absolute machine when he is fully used to it all. His determination and winning mentality is unreal.
I was thinking the same! Wait till he really gets used to it and technology gets better, NOTHING will stop him!
Billy’s like I crashed lost my legs let’s get back to racing. What an amazing attitude and spirit. Go on you billy. Your attitude will make you do amazing things. Found this video on a fluke glad I watched.
What an unbelievable story!
I wish this young talent the power he needs to come back into the great sport... you have a lot of fans! Don‘t forget this!
Many greetings from Germany!
This is amazing! I really hope people see this!
Thanks for sharing!
yeaaahh man
cool story bro...
I have no words man, that was beautiful.
Props to you, your family and anyone that came your way and played their role that has helped you becoming the man you are!
Take care, and WOT!!

Lewis Hamilton has found himself a new fan what a caring dude and what a story young man has an awesome outlook on life
I don’t know how to begin to explain the amount of respect I have for Billy. An incredible incredible guy!
Stories and personalities like his, make you appreciate every single thing that we have as something sure. Amazing video!!
Niki Lauda didn't often take time to talk to people, that says a lot about this young man. You're an inspiration, all the best and I would love to see you in F1
Lauda
My respect skyrocketed for Lewis when he started taking photos of him at the ceremonies, when he first got back in a car, when he first got the letter at the hospital. They are amazing guys, both Lewis and Billy
yep Lewis is an amazing and humble man
Your just a kid and omg your more of an inspiration than 95% of anyone alive today
3rd time watching this and it still makes me cry, such an inspiration
I watched it and then immediately rewatched it!
@@mamavswild It's just the way he was the one telling the doctor it's ok, unbelievable courage from him
On my second viewing
A kid on the outside, *the* warrior on the inside. Heartfelt respect and best wishes from Germany. You'd give me a reason to watch F1 again.
The parents and sister are legends. Like, how lucky could this kid get to have family like this? It’s crazy. I’m not even related to him or know him and I’m proud of him and his family. Like holy crap. Family’s like this only come once very blue moon. This is true family.
This popped up on my feed and I am so glad I watched it (big racing fan here). What an absolutely incredible story of an even more incredible young man.
What an inspiration this young guy is and he’s back👏👏⭐️
With all the hype in F1 about being ‘inclusive’ and ‘we race as one’ this should be a no brainer. Billy needs to RACE!
PLEASE SHARE THIS.
why just because him been disable, F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport you either there because you the best of the best or your last name is Stroll
@@vmaik04 stroll... it gotta be troll mispelled... 😉😂🤣
vmaik04 your either there because your rich or there because your da’s rich. They don’t give a fuck unless you have money, I love F1 and most of the drivers but you can’t be a driver unless you pay to be one.
leetlebob you got to have the super licence points to make it to f1

This kid has a good heart and is wise far beyond his years. When my father was stricken with cancer I eventually became his arms and legs, but he remained, as always, my strength. He will always be my hero.
I'm so grateful that you're alive and you do live your passion further on 💖
For someone of Billys age hes very mature and determined to get bacl ro racing doing what hes loved all his life fair play to him hope he achieves many things going forward
I saw the crash at Donington Park and followed every single part of the story through social media and up until the first race back and I have to say what an inspiration you are to millions of people! Keep that spirit alive and I hope that one day we will see you on the F1 grid ❤️ #BillyWizz
I believe he will be.
I know I'm gonna see Billy race in F1 soon... God bless you Billy!
Such a beautiful young lad even after the accident his personality shines , your an amazing inspiration lad 💕
As a father of two myself, I can not put into words how proud he must be. Not a religious person, but I see a gift from God when I see one. Absolutely insane story and amazing man.
Your truly inspiring to me and many others. 💪💯👍👌
I’ve seen Billy on the F1 shows and never knew his story. I’m glad I watched this documentary. He’s an incredible young man and showed such strength. Honestly cannot believe how he took everything in his stride. Great support from his family, motorsport and it’s supporters. To the 15 people who gave this video a thumbs down, you should be ashamed of yourselves
Way to go Billy ! Your straight up the strongest man Ive ever seen. You changed history buddy !
what an amazing story, the maturity of Billy's outlook, Mr & Mrs Monger, you have done yourself very proud with your son!!! what an inspiration to everyone. Well done Billy, keep up the great work.
Winning doesn’t show the true metal of a man. Loosing something shows the true strength of a person. This kid is made of steel, what a legend.
dude i cannot stress enough the amount of times I was impressed by his tone and like the overall way he was handling things...very good mindset at such a early age with do wonders in the long run
Whether he races again or not, it's clear this young man has the guts and personality to ensure he lives an amazing life all the same.
crying my eyes out right now. played college hockey and due to too many concussions, doctors won’t let me touch the ice anymore. so glad bill got to recover and continue doing what he loves. I will always be involved in hockey, just not in the way I was ever expecting :) life is great and there’s always something to look forward to. even when times seem very hopeless
I dont get It! No yellow flag, no radio telling the drivers about a stationary car at the cirquit??
Billy is a winner! And I Wish him all the well!!
Dont really have time for that in 5second of time
Immobile car on track is red flag no matter what
Who is disliking this, what is there to dislike.
Well, there are people that disapprove of dangerous sports like this, especially for minors. You can see many things in this doc. What I see is an example of perseverance, a loving family and playing the cards life has dealt you. Respect!
was wondering too! such an inspiration!
The other teams and drivers who lost to this legend
What turns me off about it is as a child he’s not allowed to make any decisions for himself but his parents put him in a car and now he’s crippled.
@@whiteknob7944 His parents didn't force him to race, they allowed him to follow his passion. What would you do, wrap your kids in cotton wool to keep yourself happy while depriving them of an interesting life? They've obviously done a lot right to raise such an inspirational young man. You mate, have no idea.
9 months after losing both of his legs..not only has he been able to get the rules changed but he's already back driving on the tracks...what an absolute warrior
What an admirable young man! His mindset is excellent! Just shows it’s how you view your situation. It can make you or break you!
Life gave you a MASSIVE lemon and you made a bucket of lemonade. God bless you.
In Australia I had never heard of this story so glad it came on my feed to watch. What an amazing story what an incredible human at such a young age. Being a parent but a kid at heart I feel I could relate to both the parents and billy . I’m still on wow good luck with everything in life champ
As a fellow Aussie I agree I am so happy to have seen this fine young mans story! Keep pushing forward Billy
What an amazingly brave, strong, determined & lovely young man. He encouraged himself with wisdom way beyond his years.
Wow what a guy. So much respect for the lad! Listening to him on the high performance podcast 🙌🏼🐐✊🏼
Wow, I’m at a loss. This video just came up on my feed. I stopped watching most motor sports around 2016, except for Supercross, motocross and mx gp in Europe. I had no idea about you or your accident Billy. It seems that you are a rare breed young man. With the trauma you sustained, never allowing it to depress you or to deter you from your goals is just amazing. I’ve tried to raise my son to keep striving for his goals as well, no matter what obstacles are put in front of him. After watching this video with him, I see the expression on his face, and I feel he finally sees what overcoming adversity looks like. Thank you for this, your drive has touched another young mans life. Even though you probably would never meet, you have turned on something in my son that nothing can extinguish. God bless you for that.
I'm quite old and I don't have the mental capacity of this kid. Watching this just gets me teary, I just got to get my shit right
Your such an inspiration, never give up keep going you’ve got this and God bless you and your family.
Billy monger.... my lord you are a dead set legend!!! You have touched many people through your story. I love racing but you have it in your spirit. Many more people will have drive to learn through difference by hearing your story. You are an inspiration brother and I sincerely hope to meet you one day
well done billy as someone in a wheelchair with spinabifida and stenosis had a laminoctemey c1 to c5 to help with cramps and muscle spasms and pain as well,i lost my right leg above the knee and cant stand up due to weakness in left leg and no balance,i miss walking soooo much im 54 years old and lost my walking ablility at 48 years old ,and lost my leg 4 years ago due to blood clot and sepsis shock, good luck billy and keep walking lad keep going
I can't imagine what losing only one limb could do. Nevermind two legs. I had heard about this story as it happened and instantly connected it to Zanardi's crash at Nurburgring. All the best to him and hope he can continue to race in any circumstance. Kid had and still has talent.
We stub our toes we all think it's the end of the world this dude lost legs and didn't cry of pain. Such a brave kid
This story is so wholesome!!
Such an inspirational story he never gave up on his dreams
I wanna see another part of this. Brilliant kid, wish him all the best!!!!!
That was such a nice moment seeing niki and monger meeting each over one how lost his legs and one how suffered burns. RIP niki lauda and
Get well soon billy glad ur back winning again :)))
Who else was smiling, heart racing a bit and a small tear watching him rock that track for the first time since the incident? What an amazing story of perseverance and drive... Gorgeous lad is going places in life and won't fail at anything he seeks out to do
Billy your story brought tears to my eyes you are incredible 💗💗💗
I’m 57 and this lad is an inspiration to me, so all you youngsters out there should take a good look at billy and be inspired from this incredible young man. God bless ya mate and I’m a huge fan of yours even before the accident, now I feel even more of a fan. I sincerely hope you reach your goals, if anyone can do it, it’s Billy Monger.
Wow he achieved all that in less than one year! Such an inspiration!
Your a legend man. I had a full knee replacement due to cancer and I was very close to losing that leg. Fought cancer 6 times and it was terrible but I couldn’t imagine what you’ve gone through dude your an inspiration. Hope your doing good and that Ill get to see you in F1 someday in the future !
But I kinda related to this video alot. Before I got diagnosed with cancer for the first time I had some friends but didn’t get much attention. But once I got sick, basically everyone was always asking how I was doing and I was kinda known as just the kid who has cancer. Having people there has been nice but I just wish I was treated like I was before I got sick, and I bet you feel that too.
I can’t believe this remarkable young man was back in a race car in under a year from such an accident. Billy Monger you aren’t disabled, you are a race car driver. Amazing. The sky is the limit.
Well said 👏🏼👏🏼
The Force is strong in that one.
I hope its not only The Force, but The F1 !
what i dont understand is why wasnt any flags waved?
there was an immobile car on the track, and not one flag. they failed this boy so badly.
I thought the same thing .... how is it possible that a car stopped in the middle of the track is not reported in some fucking way?????
I can't believe it😤
Exactly !!
there was like 2 or 3 seconds between the carlin car stopping and Billy crashing into it so it all happened in like 4 seconds or so and even in f1 they have like 5 sec delay between the incident and the flag. Amd this happened in a smaller occasion so it was just the unfortunate circumstances that the poor boy lost his legs.
@@adamgungl7454 Omg😵😱🥶🥶
5 seconds delay sound like a huge time.
I'm not an F1 expert but if you consider the speed of those cars a delay of a few seconds can mean a disaster..😱.
I really hope you are wrong my friend...
@@alexsiliano3978 even if the flags were waved by the Martians. The drivers need to see the flags, and react. Let’s say all that happens in 2 seconds. He would’ve had either Jerome the car away from the crash, potentially causing another bigger crash, or trying to stop the car enough to not meet him. It was an unlucky situation, and was extremely unlucky :/
What an inspirational young man, well done on having such a positive attitude and a big shout out to your family, you’re all bloody brilliant x
He is such an awesome young man. So brave so strong. He is so wise when it comes to some of the things he says as far as after the crash. I'm so happy that he has had all that support his family his fans and his racing community. I am in awe of how strong he is mentally and physically he is a go-getter for sure
It's sad, we live in a world of social media where 137 people dislike this video
Yeah, on May 1st, 2021 291 people really need to go thru something tough in life so they can understand how hard this was for Billy & maybe change the direction their thumbs are pointing.
Now there is 324 people that don't like it they don't deserve to live !
You guys do know that bots dislike videos right
Ya I know but not all of them are bots people need to go through tough times to understand how hard it is but u have to keep going no matter what because u can't succeed standing still
But tens of thousands liked it!! There’s always going to be ass holes, ya know?
Damn YT and their algorithm, it's 3am and my eyes are filled. Sir, we need more stories like yours, a family that comes together in full support of their own, and a young man who didn't give up and go looking for a safe place. Wishing you all the best!!
Yo it's 3am for me now 😢
Its 5:20am and was supposed to be sleeping 90 min ago 😁
3:15am on my end I have to bring my son to the kindergarten in 5 hours. But this documentation about him makes me thinking about if I will give him the same support Billy got.
Happy to have had this show up in my feed. What a courageous young man. My mama heart went out to his mama. I could see her relief and just simply the huge pride she felt. I pray Billy and his family are greatly blessed every day forward.
I have watched this 3 times and it makes me so emotional, love his determination and resolve, his parents are so supportive and a very genuine film , this kid must have gone to hell and back to suffer this terrible loss at such a young age , let’s hope his career keeps moving forward no person deserves it more , big shout out to his Mum and Dad , fantastic parents
That's enough to make a grown man cry
you're my hero Billy.
i have a condition called Elhers Danlos Syndrom. its a condition that makes my whole body less strong, so muscles, skin en organs are a lot more weak than 'normal' people and that makes racing karts really hard because my energy level is very low(because of the less power in my muscles). But im racing in Rotax Senior class and i love it. i keep fighting every time i get on track to get better and better. I knew that this documantery was online but never wanted to look at it because i thougt i maybe get emotional. But now i watched it and never skipped a second, and yes i got emotional but jesus man, what a man you are. There is so much spirit in you. It motivates me so much to get everyting out of my, not only on the track, but also in life. There are so much lovely things you can do with a handicap but that doesnt make it less fun.
I wanted to say you're a huge inspitration to me as a racer but also as a person, and many others with me.
cheers Billy and keep drivin!
Billy, don't be a hero.!
17 years old? You're amazing Billy, you're an inspiration to me.
Really puts things in perspective for ya doesn’t it. Billy you’re an awesome person with a bright future ahead of you, we’re all rooting for you and wishing you the best of luck.
This needs to be put on Netflix for the world to see. Fuck, did it make me cry ?
The world can see it here. For free. So...better platform.
I broke my back in 90 and got back to walking with calipers and crutches after a couple of years I classed myself as hampered not disabled.
Fantastic what you've achieved Billy, with a fantastic family and friends around you.
Keep striving.
