I saw her play this live in a small venue before I'd ever watched videos of her performances. The breakdown she does where the song ends on the album was just thrilling - no one really had a sense of where the song was going, but everyone was part of this tremendous rising action built on those lush, gorgeous vocal loops. When she brought the drums back in the whole room lost it, strangers cheering and dancing together. One of the most memorable concert experiences I've ever had.

Maybe it's cool to add that Grimes uses a vocal pedal (BOSS VE-20) that multiplies her voice as a choir (different notes for each voice and all), and that's probably how she sings that second part - but sometimes she may sing along a pre-recorded voice, I don't discard that. Regarding the samples, she activates each one each time, if you listen to her first performances you'll see her fucking up some samples and then it becomes clear how it works hehe.
