My in laws are a BPL family ...am a software engineer earning handsomely ,my wife got to know about my exact salary , she informed her parents and then boom ...i was bombarded with a case package of maintenance and dowry demand...with a demand of 60K per month as maintenance....
I thought courts would understand her game play...alas...i was awoken to the sad practical reality...now am maintaining their entire family...with the interim maintenance since last 2 years...she is assured that at worst if she loses the dowry and other cases she would be let off with some moral science gyan...but maintenance is anyhow assured...

First of all 6 lakh income is tax free and because of 12L you have to pay according to 15% on 12L instead of 30% on 18L

Husband's responsibility to maintain wife but wife has no responsibility by law , dawry is illegal but maintenance and alimony should be moral and legal responsibility. Courts are actually confused, on one day they say wife is not the property of husband and another day says husband have to maintain the wife.
