In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov shares with you a simple, universal, and aggressive chess opening for Black which you can play against virtually any first move of White. It happens after the first moves 1.e4 Nc6 2.d4 e5 3.d5 Ne7, which is known as the Kennedy, Linksspringer Variation from the Nimzowitsch Defense.
Although it may seem like White has a good position because of the strong central pawns, it is Black who gets to create a quick and devastating attack on the kingside. In fact, in the most played variation White loses in just 7 moves!

Thanks for producing this recipe for black. I've been playing the Pirc with some considerable success, but it is somewhat slow and conservative. This, however, is a much more active opening. Definitely going to give it a try.

I watched this video once, didn't really memorize everything and went to try it in a casual game. First attempt - I beat an opponent rated almost 2000 (I'm only 1600), and he didn't even make opening blunders that lose on the spot. It was just too easy to keep increasing the pressure and they were eventually forced to give up their queen. I even sacrificed a bishop pretty early on for monstrous initiative too. Wow, blown away by this setup, it's no joke for white and super fun for black. Thank you so much for this video, you are easily the best openings instructor on youtube. I also recently gained 50 rating points thanks to your video on the Roussou gambit. You make learning new opening so easy, man. Wish you all the best ❤

A couple of points - after e4 Nc6; d4 e5, by far the most popular position to be reached here is 3. Nf3 leading to a Scotch. If you play the ...e5 Nimzowitsch, you must know this opening! Secondly, Igor specifies that d4 Nc6; Nf3 is likely to be played by a London player, then after 2...d6 has them playing 3. c4! As if! That London player is for sure going to play 3. Bf4. In that case black usually switches to a Pirc-like set-up but since this is quite different from the main theme, a short example would surely have been preferable.
Agreed. It’s a little too cute to conclude yes white will just respond whatever, doesn’t matter, just keep moving the Q side knight to king side.

Im a 1900 player and been addicted to this as my main opening for over a decade with decent results and extremely fun games. black always gets to attack first. I play the atrocious Nh6 tho

The key against Ng6 in general is Nf3 then h4, after then black is forced into h5, then white can follow by Bg5. In the 1.d4 variation, just go d5 early and chase the knight around, best line is for white to get a advantageous endgame after blacks e6 break.
