We are extremely delighted to welcome the extraordinary classical guitarist, Jorge Caballero to the Siccas Guitars studio in Karlsruhe. He plays works by Andres Segovia, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, A movement of Antonin Dvorak's "From the New World" Symphony, Isaac Albeniz and Dale Kavanagh.

I have no words. Playing the first movement of Dvorak’s symphony, I didn’t even know that you could do that on CG. Mind considered blown.
I haven't gotten there yet in the video, but isn't Kazuhito Yamashita's arrangement? If that's the case and the first movement blew your mind, you might want to check Yamashita's recording: he plays the whole thing, including the final Allegro...

@@ynschannel_ it doesn't sound that good.....go listen to real classical music for a year and then come back and listen to some guy trying to play a symphony on a little twangy guitar and tell me your opinion.
The characteristic of his playing is that the performer's own personality does not come out more than necessary. That makes it even more expressive of the worldview of the piece. This allows the audience to immerse themselves in the piece. I think he is one of the rare performers who can make the piece itself sound beyond the dimension of being able to play this song with a guitar. Thanks .

Caballero has been playing Yamashita's arrangements for years now, and it's still always great to hear them. I don't think he captures the same outright intensity and fire that Yamashita brings, but then, perhaps no one does. The Mussorgsky and Dvorak have always been the most successful of Yamashita's large-scale arrangement work to me. These transcriptions are too difficult to ever be really accessible for most players, and too...unorthodox?? to probably ever catch the interest of many professionals and maybe the broader public, yet, IMO they have added quite a lot to the richness of the guitar repertoire, and perhaps opened some eyes and ears as to what you can pull out of a solo guitar from a technique perspective.
Finally somebody who is not obsessed by virtuosity, but who really serves music....great job, Jorge!

This is great, both the concert and the channel in general, but why do people in classical guitar world continue to call Castelnuovo-Tedesco only "Tedesco"? I get it's faster to write and tell, but Castelnuovo is also part of the composer' surname!

The transcription from the New World must be based on the one by Kazuhito Yamashita, a genius Japanese classical guitarist. When I first him play all the 4 movements on the guitar I got very excited about his performance. Here in JORGE CABALLERO's interpretation is rather soft and natural. Yamashita's performance was the one with breathtaking. I am very much appreciating that Cabellero is challenging not only this symphony but also Pictures at an exhibition also based on Yamashita's transcription. I would rather want to listen your version of another classical famous pieces. For me Yamashita's excellent transcriptions and his godlike performances eclipse long-awaited Caballero's awesome challenges.
